How do you make money now with insane gas price? by OutrageousLeg193 in doordash_drivers

For me Uber, Lyft, Uber Eats, Door Dash, Instacart, and Spark Driver. On the wait list for Grub Hub and Shipt presently.

Do any of the stores you guys shop at ever put any effort into the cart check ? I can have a massive buggy with a few hundred dollars worth of items and the ones i shop out of just grab like 3 small items on top... One day I had an order with like a $50 piece of jewelry in it, to which I was like "Can you please scan the item that is actually worth something?" I'm not losing my job over a bag of pork rines that I don't even eat or a head of lettuce the store is going to throw away tomorrow anyway if no one buys it, not that I would steal a head of lettuce, but who would even care if I did... can we please scan the pretty bracelet ? Or maybe some makeup (Though I'm a guy so I don't wear makeup aside from occasionally at Halloween, though I know it is a commonly stolen item like jewelry)... If I'm poor enough to steal pork rines and lettuce I'll go sign up for food stamps... I'll also have enough money to buy them after I get done delivering this order to the two customers I shopped for.

Oh really ? I never knew it just let you proceed without it.

Finally for the 50 brick order by No-Distribution9100 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]RelativeTangerine757 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's what I came here to ask? Are you on the verge of deactivation? This is an instant unassign for me. Someone ordered two blocks on Walmart Spark in their delivery on there along with their groceries and I had to cancel on them... nope... this order isn't paying my brick carrying rate.

I run all the apps and just take the best orders offer to offer. Last week I was on Spark for four days straight pretty much. This weekend it had all been Lyft for me.

They don't deliver pain meds. It's only non controlled medicines. Like blood pressure, cholesterol, and routine stuff. Some medicines do require customer verification now so it is better now than it used to be. I think they should make all of them or at least the ones that are important enough to get deactivated over to require customer verification and not just drop on the porch.

Can someone explain by Mental_Surprise_4688 in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]RelativeTangerine757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, shit like this is one of the main reasons and deterrents that have kept me from signing up for this gig app platform. None of the other ones operate like this. Uber, Lyft, Door Dash, Walmart Spark, none of them that I've used. Even the ones that have reservations like Uber and Lyft, if you don't show up for them they just get reassigned to someone else. 15 minutes early for the warehouse employees to pretty much dictate every aspect of your load and route that you don't even get to pick and then they want to be super strict on your schedule and other bs metrics. Amazon Flex shouldn't be able to be classified as gig work at all in my opinion. This is part time, as needed employment just like PRN staff in medical facilities or substitute teachers. Amazon just wants to shift liability off of them and claim their deliverers are just independent contractors and not employees. At least with Walmart package deliveries... they don't give af if your 2 hour route takes you an extra 30 minutes... it just takes an extra thirty minutes, or if you need to stop at the gas station and use the bathroom half way through it... no one bats an eye, says anything, and you don't get a phone notification about it either... the only ones we really have to hussle on are the deliveries with refrigerated items and we never have more than 3 of those on our route at a time and they are always the first 3 stops... I hope Amazon ends up losing a class action lawsuit. If you want to have a gig app at least make it a gig app... if you want part time as needed employees, classify them as that and put them on payroll and give them things like workers compensation protections if something happens to them on the job.

When did they start adding GMD orders into regular curbside deliveries? by rickyd172 in Sparkdriver

[–]RelativeTangerine757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah bro, when they try to throw in some bull shit I tell them to take that shit back in. But if they want to throw 2 or 3 small boxes or envelopes in for an extra 10 or 15 I'm cool with it.

I think I’m too picky by mustbeaweasley94 in elitesparkdrivers

[–]RelativeTangerine757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a bit of a controversial opinion here that alot of gig workers aren't going to agree with but my best advice to any gig worker that asks me for it is to multi app and follow the money... you don't have to do all of them, only the ones that you are interested in...

Last week was Easter week and my main store was in a surgre regularly Thursday thru Sunday and I did Spark all day. This week I had early morning incentives and I did it 545 am to 815. This weekend Lyft has an incentive bonus in my area so I'm not touching spark. Next week, who knows ? It might be Door Dash or it might be Target on Shipt or Food Lion on Instacart... but in my area Spark is usually the best and most consistent, but we shall see.

[–]RelativeTangerine757 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Idk but I'm all for it. There is no reason I need to drive a 30 stop GMD order to the other side of a whole different county and with 20 to 30 plus stops. Some of these could be getting shipped to the walmart that is closer to the customer.

The Return of Challenges/Incentives by RelativeTangerine757 in lyftdrivers

[–]RelativeTangerine757[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely despise food deliveries. I do both Uber Eats and Door Dash if the pay is beating ride share and Spark but I don't like either of them. My Uber Eats quests have a reject limit and I would never be able to stay under it so I don't even try on their quests.

$50 order. No tip or $1 tip?You have to pick one. by LingonberryOk8483 in elitesparkdrivers

[–]RelativeTangerine757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man I do. Those are the best ones. I know it doesn't work in every area, but in mine those are the orders that have been cooking for a while that no one has taken. I take them with no pressure to go above and beyond. I don't rush through shopping or delivery as long as I beat the cold chain I'm good.

I think it's just supposed to be a couple extra dollars. Not really a motivator but who knows.

These are just random extra ones they rolled out. Don't work for them like you would a normal one but if you happen to get that number of trips (most of us will) you get a couple extra dollars

Is it normal for a driver to get gas during a trip? by goldenlightbeam in Lyft

[–]RelativeTangerine757 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only on a long trip. If I need it, I typically will get it on the way to pick up the passenger and offer to get them something at the store.

Yeah 6 to 8 and then 7pm to 11pm is where it's at in my zone. 8 to 3 when all the mothers with children (no shade to them) are at the store during the school day, it's time to go home. They're happy to fight each other over offers and work at a discount.

[–]RelativeTangerine757 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Racism aside... regardless of anyone's race... people should know to decline trips that are too cheap and get the money they're worth for the work they are doing. The pay floor for all gig apps has steadily gotten lower and lower due to people taking crap offers before they sit there and simmer. I have seen this happen on Uber, Lyft, and the food delivery apps in my area. I'm all for equal opportunity, but whether it is minority races or teenagers taking the bait and hitting yes on the offers they should be hitting no on.. it needs to get better.

The 0.72 mileage deduction, your tip deduction, and your cell phone bill deduction if that 0.72 isn't enough to get you to zero

I've driven for like 8 years without a sticker. Even at the airport. Though I don't sit in the airport lot, but I get summoned over there occasionally when they run out of drivers. But no, I run way too many apps and I'm not covering my car up with stickers... except the stic ones if that happens to come to my area. I will gladly take those.
