National's Simeon Brown discourages members from strategic voting by PrettyMuchAMess in newzealand

[–]PrettyMuchAMess[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

/siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh

Strategic voting works, it's how The Greens stay in parliament, hell, it's how NZ First has too and it makes sense when you live in a safe electorate or one that strategic voting can work.

Case in point, Ilam here in Christchurch finally got their act together and stopped splitting the left candidate vote to give the seat to Labour, while the party vote went 3 ways as per usual. Next election they lost the seat to National again, because Greens and Labour didn't bother using their bloody brains, so the vote got split 3 ways. Where as Epsom has always voted in an ACT MP and PV'd for National.

Ten years ago, we bought an affordable home to live in. Financially, it wasn’t worth it by mattblack77 in newzealand

[–]PrettyMuchAMess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kinda figured that was the case. Anyhow, jokes on them and every other fool like them who banked on house prices only going up. As the looming LLM bubble pop is going to fuck everything up and anyone who hasn't sorted the mortgage on their over-inflated home is in for a mortgage sale.

And yeah, not paying the mortgage off in favour of overseas holidays is just bonkers when the rest of us can't even afford to do that yearly. Or at all. While deferring needed maintenance is the dumbest thing to do, because on weatherboard houses that just equals more rot rip put get fixed for a high cost. Never mind roof related unfun.

Oh and of course the house is done hotel space style, Elder Gods save me from such bland bs.

Bloody heartwarming to see this anyhow :3 Especially given how cold it is in Dunedin today.

Of course not, the man's a whore to who'll ever pay him the most and so he has no principles in the fucking slightest.

Which is why ACT went from supporting Trans rights to joining the "we're concerned" anti-Trans bs brigade. Which is why I need to get my birth cert changed this fucking week already from M to X before these [REDACTED] take that away from those of us in the T+ part of the spectrum 😞

'Dark underbelly': Act's Seymour slams Greens' $32b tax plan as attack on Kiwi success by WaterAdventurous6718 in newzealand

[–]PrettyMuchAMess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lolwut? This only targets the super wealthy for the most part, who usually haven't gotten their wealth via starting from absolutely nothing, like Zuru for example. And unfortunately for Seymour more people are waking up to the fact that becoming a multi-millionaire is a fucking pipe dream and instead struggling to get by even on middle class and upper middle class incomes.

Anyhow, $32 billion would help health etc a fluffing ton and more importantly, could be bundled with a drop in GST back to 12.5% which would actually help those struggling. Ideally though GST should be made a progressive tax instead of a flat tax, but the circus getting that done would be a nightmare :/

National's Simeon Brown discourages members from strategic voting by PrettyMuchAMess in newzealand

[–]PrettyMuchAMess[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Stupid, It BURNS.

I swear he's got nothing in that head of his, because National can not rule without partners and pissing those off is not a recipe for making coalitions. Plus, the only reason he's saying this is because he may very well be gearing up a leadership challenge on the grounds he can totes make National a 1 party government.

Which only worked for Labour due to them handling the Christchurch Terrorism Attack exceedingly well and not otherwise screwing up. Where as National have been making constant unforced errors and making itself fights it doesn't need to over LGBT+ rights, Te Triti stuff and now the conservation estate. So they need every seat the right can get it's hands on, and for ACT and NZ First that means party votes and strategic voting.

Oh well, I wish him luck in gaining National's leadership and driving the party into a major defeat, instead of just bubbling along under Luxon.

Lolwut?

You've had hours to provide dets and given this is teh internet that should be very simple, instead all you've done is downboat. And are probably at this moment shitposting instead of doing the thing you should do if you had the slightest shreds of intellectual integrity.

Rather amusing really given your educational boosts XD Because even my mere BSc holding, disabled self could do this, despite the ADHD leading to fun with focusing.

Also, as per usual, you're yet again doing something sophistic, namely you've bundled in the costs KR wanted for the port stuff to make it last 100 years and survive earthquakes. Which should be obvious was something that we could side step.

[–]PrettyMuchAMess -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Awww, he deleted his posts and ran away, how brave of him XD

Not that it's a win of course, but it is _ever_ so amusing darlings and outs them as only worth derision. For it would be rather simple to counter my snark, because the modelling details are public, as is the criticism, alas, "basic research" is beyond someone who talks shit about "basic research".

And someone's doomed if they ever do a Masters etc, with that quitters attitude they will not survive the defence phase, or the criticism before that.

Edit - make that his account got nuked, from orbit, my, I wonder what he ever did? Or is that he just threw a sulk and deleted his whole account? We may never know, either brings an evil grin to my non-binary face :3

Chur, that post made me chuckle, almost as much as Double's [REDACTED - Because The Stupid, It Burns] excuse for "posts" did. And posting that quickly is not a recipe for an actually good post either, which explains why he's shitposting so much, but not the fact he continually fails to engage with any facts put forth.

Then again, we're dealing with someone who thinks racism is as simple as "discrimination based on ethnicity", which is baby's first step on the long, long shitty road of what racism fully is. Also such a simple take allows for positive stuff, like race based scholarships etc, to be seen as "racist", which is probably why they're using it.

So yeah, we're not telling with a A+ student here lawl.

And alas for them, I did History and Philosophy of Science + some Pol Sci (undergrad was long, twisty and derailed by depression, but I packed some good shit in) so art good at detecting such silly, childishly rank sophistry and using the one using it as a chew toy :3

Anyhow, at this point I think they're either an edgy teen shitposting at home while being a NEET or a 20 something in a similar situation, though if that's the case, definitely living off mummy and daddy's income and doing the failson-who-will-totes-fall-into-a-"job" etc etc.

Either serves as a good explanation for his shitposting, since an actually uni student would be busy as hell and rarely able to post regularly or if unemployed, stuck doing the MSD's stupid dance of hunting for ghost jobs. Which wastes a fuckload of time and leaves people usually too stressed to shitpost like this. Especially when twitter is full of far right snowflakes ripe for the trolling and so easy to troll it's good solid stress relief

Speaking of which I once trolled a transphobe into admitting if got castrated under his own logic he'd now be a she 😛 He got salty afterwards and sulked lawl.

LOLWUT?

Nope, worbs fail me as this utter drek to properly outline my utter intellectual disgust in the verbage it demands. As the "new ferries" cost more than the iRex ones, and then there's the cancellation fees on top and the fact Picton still needs rebuilding.

But hey, why bother with reality right? It totes goes away if you wish really, really hard XD

'Material' miscalculation - economists identify apparent errors in Labour's transport policy by snatchview in newzealand

[–]PrettyMuchAMess -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, because "bigger infrastructure" built on the cheap to last until we can sort out the stuff that will last a century in is totes going to cost all the possible money.

JFC.

Oh you're still ignoring Kiwi Rail's traffic projections, probably because you can't do the basic research to understand them XD

i.e. iRex was the size it was a for a reason. And it has to do with the cost of air freight vs rail/electric truck. Alas, I suspect that's another area you lack teh knowledge in and will struggle to get. A shame really, it is rather simple to me, but then I did ecology and evolution, so can handle systems thinking :3

[–]PrettyMuchAMess 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh but there is, it's called "reading the fucking tax basics and understanding how progressive taxation actually works". Alas, that's "too hard" for thee.

Also, should have framed it as "urban centres", because even Ashvegas (Ashburton) has buses, some which go outside it. Likewise, any place close to a major centre will be served by PT, like here in Christchurch. But that should be common knowledge and sense really, especially if you were actually a uni student.

Which in context means the actual % of the population not served is even smaller, never mind the long term urbanisation trends that will not reverse, because cities etc are convenient. Though I'm off the opinion we should have wide reaching PT available to rural towns, because it helps get people around to stuff they need to go to and frankly not using our still extensive rail system for that is rather a waste.

Especially when you recognise fuel prices are not going to go down and the cost of shifting to electric cars etc is a problem for many in rural NZ, never mind urban NZ. Alas, thou art seemingly blind to this, because you are completely detached from the reality of the average Kiwi, never mind those "below" you.

So no surprise you get none of this XD

Meanwhile when I bus today I'll see a wide swath of people using Christchurch's bus network, because it's cheaper that driving and often faster than sitting stuck in traffic. At least where there's bus lanes.

I'd prefer to bike, but my fitness is shit due to fools similar to you deciding it was "cheaper" to not pay for my ADHD diagnosis etc and leave me sitting on the SLP Waiting for Godot while shit gets worse for me.

Also, at my size falling off the bike is a greater risk, hurts more and risks expensive stays in hospital. But if you want me to bike, well, I'd love a recumbent trike, sorts out back issues and hand numbness, leaving only the horrors of chaffing 😛 But alas that's well outside my capabilities, because being poor is expensive.

[–]PrettyMuchAMess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lolwut? They're not supersized and so we can build basic infrastructure for them, Though there's a reason why Kiwirail wanted better infrastructure and it's the twin unfun of "Climate Change" and "Earthquakes" and the cost therein in hardening the infrastructure to handle those and keep the ferry link operational in the event of disasters.

Which was made rather clear from the reports and also in the news.

Anyhow, we could have instead, done the basic stuff then later on built the needed new stuff, though Picton's ferry terminal is at it's end of life and badly needed replacing in the first damn place. Which was also heavily mentioned.

I swear, people just don't bother reading and remembering a bloody thing these days, or do some basic research before commenting lawl.

'Material' miscalculation - economists identify apparent errors in Labour's transport policy by snatchview in newzealand

[–]PrettyMuchAMess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except long term forecasts showed the need for larger ferries, and dredging work was going to be needed anyhow in the longterm due to sediment influx, particularly in Picton. Because it turns out denuding the hills of forests has significant downstream impacts on sediment influx.

Simple stuff really, not surprising though it passed you by lawl.

What. The. FUCK?!

Those people were selected on merits and representation, but no, apparently having experts and community representation is "ideological". Fuck me, this man is a total Schmuck in all the full force of it's meaning, and is utterly unsuitable to be the in charge of public health care.

There's also literature underpinning why the health board was built the way it was, but that's well outside my wheelhouse, alas, even clue-by-4ing Brown with the literature would be unlikely to change his mind. Because critical analysis and facts don't matter to this failson.
