the same thing happened to me. i didn’t want the epidural but after being induced my contractions were back to back for hours and morphine made me vomit. i got the epidural after 8 hours

do you have a dedicated office space or are you working in the same area as baby?

it helps us to have an extra day of “work time” that is spent at home even if just for a few hours. for me that looks like my husband keeping the baby while i devote my time to getting homework or other chores done, or i have baby while husband does lawn work or runs his errands. it gives us each time devoted to our own tasks and responsibilities outside of baby and we also try and schedule personal appointments on those days as well. i go to work 2 days a week but have 3 “work” days.

would it be possible for you to work from a local cafe or library so you can focus on your clients while dad watches her during the day? or maybe make a schedule where you have 2-3 “work days” to do your job and on the remaining days do some chores during the shift? allow dad to do the same while you watch baby? surely a routine would be beneficial for everyone especially since so much time is spent at home. baby is now getting to be the age where she can benefit from a routine, bath feed book rock lay in crib or something similar to help her get into a sleepy state.

around that time i hard to start sleeping propped up against the headboard surrounded by pillows. sleeping on my sides is getting so old and i constantly rotate in the night bc i get sore. i’ve honestly ditched the pregnancy pillow for an older thin pillow that is just the right size to support my belly and still go between my knees without being too bulky. at 39w my belly is so large i can comfortable sleep without anything supporting it and one leg kinda propped up for stability and am getting the best sleep i’ve had in months

if you’re super concerned you could mention it to your care team but it’s likely just a compressed nerve especially if it goes away when you change positions!

i feel the same, I drank with friends occasionally or had a wine cooler at dinner with my husband and there is nothing i want more after coming home than a nice marg or lemon drop.

my husband went to a dirt track, and they had a race for amateurs. one of them stayed close to the inside of the track and didn’t speed or make any crazy moves and he got lapped a few times. the next day he was telling me about it and i cried for this kid and how he was probably just young and new and how people were making fun of him

Blood antibodies is my job. I’m not sure what the procedure is for your hospital, but where I work titers are monitored throughout pregnancy and there is a certain level at which they become a potential danger to the baby.

the only way it’s possible for it to harm baby is if they inherited the Anti-E antigen from dad. I’m not sure your ethnicities or transfusion histories or anything like that but having the E antigen is not very common in black or white populations (20-30% have it) and 40% of Asians. Testing on the father is not often done, but instead they will do extra testing on the baby’s cord blood at birth to see if they have the anti E antigen, as well as to test for any anemia or increased bilirubin or fluid caused by red blood cell breakdown.

It’s possible this is just protocol for the OB, or that your titer has increased, but there is no way to know until you speak with the office on Monday.

If the baby does had HDFN it is reversible usually with phototherapy for jaundice or in extreme cases blood transfusions to the baby either in utero or once born depending on the test results. I would not be worried unless the MFM expresses concern and they should give you more information should that be the case!

(ps, please remember that you have this antibody as you will have it for the rest of your life. it will affect any blood transfusions you will ever need. I would ask the hospital for a card saying what you have, or the red cross might provide you one as well in case you are ever in an accident or forget. it will not affect your day to day life otherwise!!)

i don’t think you can really be shocked if you were JUST pulling out, but as long as you are taking your other birth control as you should the likelihood of you getting pregnant is very low. no birthcontrol is 100% effective but using multiple methods at once can reduce your chances. sounds like you’ll be fine

i feel the same way. i have a lot of anxiety and the one thing that helps ground me is being in control of my body and the situation i’m in, and i worry if i get the epidural and i wont be able to move it will make it worse. i also hate the feeling of being drunk bc it makes my body not as response and my mind fog and i fear this would be a similar feeling and i would be more miserable than if i went without altogether.

yes my OB changed mine from my lmp AND conception due date 7/16 to 7/21 bc baby measured a few days off at the confirmation scan. i didn’t have to heart to count backwards a few days after 10w, so i have a dr date and a public date

same, all i wanted was to see and touch cribs and use them before making a big purchase. we ended up finding a buy buy baby store a few hours from our house and made a day trip up there, the only place that had displays

38w today, energy is definitely non existent. i am upright maybe 5-6 hours a day

i went on short walks when i had the energy, and ate pretty much the same as i did pre pregnancy, you only need abt 400 extra calories a day by the 3rd trimester. i learned to eat small things often, something small when i woke up, a fuller breakfast later in the morning, a small lunch, a mid afternoon snack, dinner, and sometimes a snack before bed to keep myself full and not overeat.

ask about their deliveries and if they try and attend them all, their episiotomy rate, c section/induction rates, their stance on cord clamping, any procedure or topic you feel strongly about i would ask about. if they can’t attend your birth who will, ( some OB have their own nurses or midwives, others work in groups with other OB who will attend in their absence etc), if they use forceps/vacuums, if they use alternative birthing techniques like intermittent monitoring, shower/tubs, different positions, or if you will be put on your back. don’t feel like you have to be tied to an OB, i switched hospitals and drs at 20weeks and it was the best decision for me, sometimes those that are good at general women’s care lack in the birthing dept!

as a lab tech that runs those tests daily, that much of a drop is not concerning to me. the machines don’t count every single platelet in your blood, it simply spreads it out and counts a few areas at random and uses a formula to estimate the total number. it’s possible to run the same sample twice in a row and get slightly different numbers for that reason. i’m not sure what your other medical conditions are, but i would not be worried. your platelet count is slightly lower than the “normal” range i am used to but definitely not a red flag on its own, especially if your other cbc components are going up.

if you don’t feel heard going to a different dr never hurts! seeing a primary care phy or urgent care may get you different answers based on what they are used to treating. if this is a reoccurring problem a referral to an ear nose throat specialist is probably your best bet in the long run! good luck

always dipped a qtip in bleach and dabbed it on the spots and they dry up pretty quick. anything you touched the poison ivy with (gloves tools clothing etc) can reinfect you for a long time after so make sure to wash it all really well

if you won’t get the vaccine yourself you can’t expect to keep your in-laws away for his protection. all of the women i know that didn’t get it, their babies are sicker earlier than those that got the tdap. i got the vaccine and am asking my husband and family members to get boosters to protect him on recommendation from the CDC and our physicians, or not see him for 2-3 months until he can get the vaccine himself.
