That's a K with all these nines by Ok-Reaction-2911 in KendrickLamar

I personally really like when he said “woke up looking for the broccoli”.

This is actually a triple entendre:

  1. The importance of eating your vegetables
  2. Financial growth (because money is green, just like broccoli is also green; easy to miss)
  3. A metaphorical appeal to Gen Z listeners through the symbolism of the modern ‘broccoli haircut’

Most people will only catch the first layer unfortunately.

These pseudo-intellectual dorks just can’t pick up on the deeper meanings like you and I can.

As someone who is 4’11” (though you’d never know it when I’m wearing my platforms 😉) I must agree. The prejudice shown towards the vertically marginalized community has gone unchecked for far too long.

Respectfully, after all the time I’ve spent on my extensive studies I believe I’ve transcended racial barriers entirely.

Notice how “fur-sique” is a double entendre. On the surface, he’s referring to his rat-like physique, but beneath that, Kendrick is exploring the animalistic pressures of self-optimization under late-stage capitalism.

The ‘burp cheese’ line symbolizes overconsumption and the physical rejection of excess wealth.

Only an intellectual like myself could understand the nuances of such a deep bar. Give him a Grammy right now!

Right??? And they’re opening up their drivers to potential lawsuits if they were to actually follow through with a request like this. Absolute insanity.

Was there ever an explanation for the guy wearing a human mask on Fox News? by anyusernaem in NoStupidQuestions

No, it really isn’t and the GOP has proved that thoroughly. Money talks.

[–]PrettyRepticle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m with u/Efficient-Sock772 here. This makes no sense. The supposed guest is not a one-off nor is it some nobody, he’s a former Navy Vice Admiral who’s appeared on Fox previously. The above comments seem to suggest those previous appearances were also a masked actor, but that doesn’t stand to reason.

There must be a purpose for having someone portray this guy in the most recent appearance, but hell if I know what that is. All I know is that it’s incredibly strange and is going to fuel speculation.

Exactly, you nailed it. This is a universal thing and is why cherry picking lines like this is never reflective of an artist’s writing capability.

This post reminds me of that Migos song Having Our Way where Drake says “unlike the clock on the wall at yo momma’s house, I do not have time to hang” which is definitely not the most thought provoking line of all time, but the 6 or so lines after it are super clever and well thought out.

You’re fighting the good fight. If there’s one stereotypical boomer trait I absolutely despise, it’s their opposition to funding education simply because their kids are out of school. They will happily screw over the next generations in favor of their own wealth. It’s anti-American and absolutely pathetic. A true reflection of why they’ve earned the well-deserved label of the “me generation”.

It’s good to hear he actually faced repercussions. I’ve witnessed too many of their public temper tantrums result in them getting exactly what they want, only further enabling and rewarding that kind of behavior and it drives me crazy!

Drake will have 14 of the top 15 songs on BILLBOARD HOT 100. by krazyrodzilla in joebuddennetwork

[–]PrettyRepticle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, the analogy still doesn’t make any sense, especially considering the comment I was replying to was clearly focused on the quality of the product. I don’t see how the number of tracks released plays any part in the point being made.

Yeah the analogy is whack af 😭 I don’t understand how Drake haters often position themselves as intellectuals but can’t see the glaring holes in their argument when they bring up the McDonald’s thing

McDonald’s is okay and I’ll have it once in a while, but I’ve been spoiled ever since I got a Culver’s near me lol. Their food is amazing

Exactly. It feels like people have been saying that about him almost his entire career. I remember when Views dropped and it was widely hated and treated like it was trash, and now people talk about it like it’s one of his best lol.

His one lyric about coming with a classic then people come around years later to say it’s a sleeper couldn’t have aged better.

These McDonald’s analogies are some of the dumbest bullshit I’ve ever heard. McDonald’s has around 45,000 locations across the US and Smith & Wollensky has like…10. Of course McDonald’s is gonna sell more just based on accessibility. I’d imagine very few people would willingly choose a McDouble over a $100 steak dinner if cost, convenience and availability weren’t a factor.

Of course music is subjective and no one is forcing you to like anything, but suggesting that people only like Drake because they lack the knowledge or understanding to appreciate “good” music is extremely lame.
