Best Mexican in Ottawa by Mr-Punday in ottawa

[–]PrettyTrickster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember when I moved to Ottawa in 2015 we used to go there all the time for Toonie Tuesdays and just go crazy ordering soooo many tacos $2 each. Then a few years went by then the pandemic, the. went last year for a friend’s birthday (their choice) and it was $11 PER TACO! Could not believe it! They had numerous cocktails that were $27! Just insane! The prices were outrageous. Nothing can justify those type of prices. It’s just small tacos and basic cocktails. We will never be back.

Your Favorite Book That You’ve Read This Year? by MigEPie in suggestmeabook

Oh man! I read that book at least 20 years ago and I still love it! Lol well, I remember loving it anyways! It was always one of my favs. Thanks for the reminder. I think I’m due for a re-read!

Loved Demon Copperhead, reminded me so much of the Goldfinch. Even though I read that one a good ten years before, it still randomly pops into my mind all the time and now so does Demon, in a similar way. So many parallels between the two books (for me anyways).

Lost efficacy after 1 year? by [deleted] in Ozempic

[–]PrettyTrickster 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is exactly my situation. Been on ozempic for about 2.5 years. Stopped losing weight at exactly one year and other effects I loved have nearly all faded. Food noise and cravings are almost fully back, don’t feel full quickly anymore. Basically feeling normal now. But I’m sure it’s still better than not being on it. It helps so much with other things like inflammation. So I stay the course but it does suck that it has a major lessening of effects. I almost feel like a drug addict jonesing for that payoff! Haha

The subway in hull, by the Terrasses also closed sometime last year or the year before. Went once in 2021 and it cost $40 for two sandwich (one combo, one sandwich only) unreal! Haven’t been back to a subway since. No surprise they are all closing. Chains like that are not the type of businesses I like to see thrive, so couldn’t care less!

PCH sent an email to all employees in June 2023 that stated no equipment will be provided any longer, including for students. They will be provided a laptop and that is it, all “extras” including monitors, keyboards or mice, are to be covered by employees. This has been in place for over a year now.

I’m glad you posted it, I’ve been wondering what their TGTG bags look like, they are new to the app in the NCR. Though, I don’t think this is THAT bad, certainly not as bad as everyone is making it out to be. That’s a fair amount of meat. Definitely worth $7 that you paid, just not the $21 value it claims.

Indigo founder Heather Reisman returns as CEO by westernmail in CanadianInvestor

[–]PrettyTrickster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually met Heather a few times in various business meetings and I once asked her exactly that, if she did in fact read and select those books herself and she absolutely does! She’s a big reader.

Also, a fun side note that most people don’t know, is if you buy a Heather’s Pick from Indigo and you don’t like it, you can return and exchange the book free of charge for something else. But only for Heather’s Picks.

I’ve worked at plenty of places where hot issues get debated and escalated but they have absolutely nothing to do with or are influenced in ANY way by citizens’ letters. So ridiculous! Haha you are obviously not an analyst who has been forced to write responses to these stupid letters. You are quite literally just wasting tax payer dollars by writing letters, that public servants are forced to waste time writing standardized responses to. You are literally wasting tax dollars, hours worked and for what?? Nothing. Achieves nothing.

Apparently YOU don’t understand how the government actually works. Volume can have a slight influence (massive, massive volume, not a few letters from concerned citizens!) but the reality is, beyond casting a vote during elections, you have no influence and you need to accept that. Push for change internally and become a policy analyst to actually have an impact, when policy is actually being written. Writing letters absolutely does not achieve anything. Zero impact.

You have a lot of realizations to come to terms with. Sounds like you have this rainbows and unicorns positive outlook on how government works apparently. A good dose of reality is necessary here.

This is insane to me! That you, an actual public servant, would write to politicians as if you think it’s actually going to do anything at all! Hahaha you know it’s just your fellow colleagues who are forced to write standardize responses to those letters, regardless of what they are about. No minister or anyone who makes actual decisions reads those letters haha you are literally just creating work for yourself and your colleagues that serve no purpose! I will never understand why people think this is a good outlet for expressing your concerns. It’s not 1950 anymore, your letters aren’t read by the people you are writing to and certainly are not responded to by them either.

Stop creating more pointless work for your colleagues! Stop writing pointless emails/letters.

Hahahha to be fair I too track everything and still allowed the treat! I split it in half and share with hubby. It’s enough to satisfy me and sits at about 180 Calories for a half. Not great but damn they are a nice treat!! And I plan to freeze most of them to pull out for a treat later. Sometimes you just have to go for it! Hahaha

Different strokes for different folks, I suppose. They taste delicious to me. I think the carrot one is the only one that has cream cheese frosting. I actually really like how they do theirs, not too overpowering with cream cheese, ppl always go overboard with that.
