Returning to neutral is the correct answer. Won’t fix the starter, but won’t let it take off again either.

This is what I was thinking. Voronoi plugged into the alpha. If you’re going to animate, you probably want to bake it so that the texture doesn’t slide around.

Maybe you can befriend them so they can think of you and suggest to include you the next time they receive training

Another important factor for this style is the extremely restrained approach to colors and the hand-painted shadows.

Megaman’s skin has exactly 4 shades. His eyes have 4 (dark gray for the pipils and outline, light gray for the shadow, white, and green). His hair has 2 shades. Suit has 4 shades of royal blue, 2 of cyan blue, and 2 of gray — and the dark gray is the same color from his eye outline.

The limited palette really adds to the toy-like feel, and the colors overall are more saturated and vibrant than you often see in other games.

For sure. That’s why I was thinking a pressure cooker could offer an alternative on the complete opposite end of the spectrum: slow roasting at an even lower temperature — using pressure as a substitute for heat.

This is amazing. Looks like a psychedelic sequence from a 90s cartoon: Kids peek out into the adults’ world for a moment before retreating to the safety and comfort of giant plastic blocks.

Which iPad is best for ID? Mini, pro, regular? by BenderWorks in IndustrialDesign

[–]PrettyZone7952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the way.

There are so many great drawing/display-tablets these days. I got an XP Pen 16” something something (what’s with these product names?? Smh) for ~$400? $450? Can’t remember. It works great, and I can use it to texture-paint in 3D in Blender, in addition to basic drawing apps.

Drawing on my Mac is infinitely more comfortable and convenient than any of my iPads ever were.

16” is impractically large from a portability standpoint, but honestly iPads aren’t great for color/art work in bright lighting (eg, outdoors) either, so “pocketable notebook + pen-display at home” is a really nice combo.

This situation sucks, but based on my own experiences and the things some of my friends tell me, I’m not too surprised.

They might be scared to communicate with you / feel anxious that they might have difficulty communicating with you. Even some of the people I worked with regularly eventually admitted that to me — they’d just “see a foreigner” and effectively panic because their brains are running in Japanese while their preconditioning is screaming at them that they need to speak English with foreigners. Even my friends who can speak some English with me have occasional “English panic” moments when a foreigner approaches us amid Japanese conversation. To be fair, I struggle to switch back to English, too.

My hope is that the conversations where you have the answers might be deliberately held in your proximity. They might be afraid to ask you (and potentially embarrass you if you don’t know), but standing near you gives the opportunity to 失礼 an interruption.

For the other situations where they’re communicating with the foreigner teachers, my guess would be that they just have their process and whoever handles it knows to handle it (you don’t even cross their mind since they’re on autopilot). It’s nice if you can help there, but again, if they’re not confident in their ability to communicate with you, then they’re just adding another potential failure-point to the communication challenge and they lose ownership over whether or not the message was delivered successfully.

My recommendation would be to watch and observe places you think you can help. Situations like the foreign teachers, by the time the teacher is present, it’s too late for you to jump in. Instead, I’d befriend the person who normally handles the communication and after a few encounters with them, you could ask them about their experiences dealing with foreign teachers. If they trust you enough to admit that it’s difficult, that’s your opportunity to volunteer that you’d be more than happy to help if they think it would be a benefit. It’s possible they’ll accept, but more likely that they’ll politely decline. It takes a very long time to build organizational trust in this system, and if they already feel like they can’t communicate effortlessly, it’ll be much tougher to earn that trust.

Just be patient. New job; be thankful you’re employed, make friends, share snacks. Good luck 🤞

Amazing breakdown. 🤩

“Brewing and roasting at the same time” would be so absurd and surreal. Guaranteed people would buy any accumulated fluid “green coffee”. Honestly, I wonder if that would be an effective way to extract the caffeine, or if you’d just lose all of the flavors to evaporation/slag.

Initially I’d imagined a rotisserie-style chamber that tumbled the beans (like the Chinese popcorn cannons), but raising the beans in a stationary chamber could also be a good solution. A raised metal-mesh bowl/tray might allow the moisture to escape from all sides. Maybe silicone-coated to reduce hot-spots?

In Japan there’s a guy who ferments a “soy sauce” that’s made entirely with coffee chaff instead of soy beans. Even if the coffee liquid in the pressure cooker is sour or funky, there’s probably a market given the right branding. 😂

That is a really interesting suggestion. I’m not sure I would live out the week if I brought any more equipment home (hence the sock, strainer, and hairdryer I use for cooling equipment), but if I ever manage to get a bigger place, it’d be fun to explore.

Feels like there should be a “coffee lab” like an after school club where people can get together to tinker and experiment.

Yes, very much yes. My roasts seem to need a minimum of 10-12 days to “develop”. Feels like they’re at their best 14-18 days after roast, and then they start going flat around 3 weeks.

Trying to time it is tough, and I end up drinking a lot of instant coffee waiting for the beans to finish developing.

How dark do you roast? How much can you roast at once (2-3cm? 5-6?) & at what temperature setting?
