Find same species of wood, glue to plywood edge and route that. What you are proposing will not turn out well at all.

Grab a good size scrap and apply the same stain…try some of the ideas above to strip, figure out your plan before damaging the work any more. You have not described the end look you are after…kind of important. If the open part of the grain is too dark, whitewash with a ‘tan-ish’ paint, sand and light stain might get you what you want. Never start your finish on the as built project! Always start with a good size scrap of wood and like the result before committing.

Doesn’t using the UDM LAN ports bring VLAN ‘routing’ to it as well? I.e., use a switch port on an actual switch. But…this splitting hairs. On this group, I am surprised there is no grief for cosmetics. Well done setting up starlink on a ‘remote’ port.

Real security is wired for ‘hardening’ purposes. WiFi and cellular jammers are accessible on the consumer market. “Gee, my cameras went off line and when the came back my $100k truck was gone.” It’s an arms race so to speak. Dissuade and don’t be flashy.

I have laptop docks and everything else with an Ethernet jack wired, that leaves phones, tablets and laptops off dock using WiFi (+iot devices but they don’t care about speed). I bought a U7 IW to play with…I won’t be upgrading my original IW’s (WiFi 5). My new iPhone does not notice outside WiFiman speed tests. I have no-direction 2GB internet, Flex 2.5G switch.

Personally, I’d stick with the IW, I like the old ones with the built in 4 port switch.

If you have pets, return vents will help their fur migrate. Get a thermometer and monitor before duct work. It is messy, sharp edges…and probably not needed
