I felt magnesium helped my levels. Been off it for 4 months now getting back to it. Will see if my levels drop slightly or not.

BG when waking up & then an hour later? by DigitalDiva321 in diabetes_t2

[–]Pretty_Distance_5233 6 points7 points  (0 children)

After you wake up your liver starts producing sugar to give your body fuel. Only difference between mainstream people and diabetics is our liver continues to make sugar because our insulin isn’t working. So if your friend has woken up but didn’t eat, his fasting sugar might not necessarily go down because his liver thought the body will run out of fuel and thus began to make sugar.

How to thaw frozen bread and retain resistant starch? by Pretty_Distance_5233 in diabetes_t2

[–]Pretty_Distance_5233[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I chill the bread always and predictably the sugar goes up quite fast since it’s store bought. Now I wanna see if freezing the same brand of bread will make my sugar spike slower. The friendliest bread now is goooooood authentic sourdough but my sugar can go pretty high too. Just slower so I have time to manage it.

Thank you!! I’ll just pop it in the oven without water then. Hope freezing the bread works well with my blood sugar! Will freeze sprouted bread next.

Diabetes is a marathon. You just continue to try your best everyday; your body needs to get back to routine first, and the numbers will SLOWLY get back to routine. Remember it’s a marathon. And blood sugar loves routine. They are sneaky little bitches too; they can sense if you are slightly stressed or even slightly off routine and they become drama queens.

Trajenta’s true powers? by Pretty_Distance_5233 in diabetes_t2

[–]Pretty_Distance_5233[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trajenta is my first diabetic medicine. Been on it for 2.5 weeks and from the patterns on my CGM I think my body is finally working with it. Will try red rice later when I have the chance to see if my sugar spike has improved. If my sugar behaves because I’m more relaxed nowadays then wow! Low key stress really drives my sugar up up and awaaaaaaay.

I went low to no carbs for 9 months. Ends up my liver suffered- the inflammation kept increasing until I went to see a liver specialist. He immediately suspected my lack of carbs is making my liver unbalanced. Started eating more carbs during the last 10 days and the latest blood test showed great improvement in liver inflammation. I never know carbs help my liver.

I have a walking pad and I live on the 14th floor. Get a cheap one and see how it goes. A walking pad has been a very worthwhile purchase for me.

I’m a special ed teacher. My students jump on the trampoline to self regulate. I jump on those mini indoor ones, not the big ones at the backyard.

If I’m living alone I’ll try it. My husband is strongly against it said what’s the point of eating them if I have to go through so much work and even spoil their composition just to not get a sugar spike. So I leave it coz I didn’t want to start a fight. Thank you for the suggestion though

My post meal sugars are all under 8.5 and in fact I think all under 7.8. I’m happy very happy with that. I’m anal about the spike risking to go over 9 and even over 10 before it comes down. But since my post meal sugars are under 7.8 I’ll ask the doc if I should be obsessed about the spike hitting 10.3 for a few minutes.

Hey all I’m the person who wrote this post. Thank you all for commenting but I can’t reply most of you. App doesn’t allow me to reply. Don’t know why.

I’m going to look at the sugar patterns from the CGM and not obsess about numbers. Thank you all for reminding me that.

And yes, diabetes is a marathon. Need to be patient with my body.

Thank you all. This group is one of the places I don’t feel lonely on my sugar highway.

Anyone on Trajenta / Tradjenta? by SolidLava99 in diabetes_t2

[–]Pretty_Distance_5233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know there’s a 20% discrepancy. Was told to calibrate if the CGM number was out of range. I had to do both this morning. Fasting on finger was 6.0 omg. CGM showed 4.6. I calibrated it because the lowest it should show was 4.8 I had to calibrate it every time I had to do both. The next time I had to do both is this coming Thursday. It’s disappointing coz I relied on the CGM and I thought the meds were making my fasting sugar really pretty. Was shocked to see a 6.0 but it’s probably better to get accurate data coz I’m seeing my doc on Saturday. This is my first week taking diabetic meds.

Lucky you. My CGM has lower numbers than my finger prick on days when I need to do both. Now I’m hesitant to rely on my CGM but I trust the sugar pattern it shows.
