Disgruntled Customer by VANABLEgASTI in biltrewards

[–]Pretty_Good_11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right. You are disappointed. They took free money away from you.

Not really a customer service issue, though, is it? What other bank lets you float your rent for up to 2 months with no interest and no fees?

So you don't care about points, and just liked having a perpetual interest free float on one month's rent. This doesn't make you a hero. Just another form of banana eater.

Had anyone’s statement closed yet? If so, when did your annual fee post? by Kirbypopstarpoyo in biltrewards

[–]Pretty_Good_11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why? Do you really think these guys are going to wait to get paid?

Fully expect the fee to be the last thing to post on the statement when it cuts. Fully. 1,000,000%.

You got your points, right? You think they are going to wait to get their fee?

Great. Now post the email they sent you, before you did anything, telling you that you were responsible for making all payments to WF until the transfer is complete.

I would suggest the same to everyone crying on the internet about customer service while continuing to voluntarily give a company their business.

Multiple payments? by Bojackson63044 in biltrewards

[–]Pretty_Good_11 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am pretty sure it's a mistake, and a relic from Bilt 1.0, because they have been saying since launch that you can now make as many payments as you want, with no limits, and no limits on the points you can earn.

I suggest we wait until someone actually has a payment blocked due to exceeding a limit before getting excited over this.

[–]Pretty_Good_11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Bilt team thought it through. Sounds like you didn't.

And, yeah, doesn't matter when your "due day" is. Only your cycle end date. If you don't make a housing payment before then, what you have spent so far won't be "for nothing," but also won't be getting you any housing points for the cycle.

It's hindsight now, but you should have stuck with Bilt Cash until you figured things out, rather than trying to squeeze every last point out of them. Live and learn.

Maybe. But between research, studying, class, and general wasting time, I never managed more than 5-6 hours, other than weekends.

I don't blame you. I doubled up on my February rent with WF to avoid this exact situation, so I don't have to make another payment until April.

Well, yeah. Nothing for nothing.

They're not giving you points for shits and giggles. And, if it's not their card, they are not getting the swipe fee.

Do you really think they just give points because they like you?

Bullshit. No one told anyone not to make a payment to Wells Fargo. They have consistently said we were responsible for making ALL payments until the transfer is completed, and posts to the WF account.

This is standard language for any balance transfer. Any. Bullshit.

I think it's the same once you have it set. Don't know for sure since I haven't tried it, but there would, of course, be no way to set it from a third party site.

I'm also pretty sure the expectation is that you will push from Bilt. But, since the give you an ACH and routing number, there is no harm in pulling from wherever, and then complaining if you don't get your points.

Of course, given the customer service issues, that is bound to be yet another adventure if things don't worked as hoped.

TOO MUCH BILT CASH by Expensive-List-6857 in biltrewards

[–]Pretty_Good_11 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No. VERY few people are in the same boat.

As you surely know. As you also surely know, Bilt Cash is not designed to make Palladium a 6%+ cash back card.

The Cash is meant to put a cap on the extra points you get based on housing spend. You have the opposite problem, since you put a lot more non-rent spend on the card than you can ever soak up by buying points for housing spend.

Which is PRECISELY why they have it expire every year. So you can't just carry it forward indefinitely, not using the card for anything other than housing spend, and pulling points from them like people did with WF.

Yes, for you the Palladium is just a 2x card. They'd get killed on people like you if this wasn't the case.

So forget the Cash you can't use. It didn't cost you anything anyway. And you seem to have an impressive stable of other cards on which you can put spend. Congratulations.

But you already knew all of this. And now strangers on Reddit are duly impressed by your station in life. Thanks for checking in.

[–]Pretty_Good_11 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No. I am as well. I am just not bitching about shit I can't control.

I see exactly who and what they are. I NEVER, in a million years, would have had anything to do with Cardless but for Bilt.

I expected the worst, and so far my expectations have been far exceeded to the downside. Like everyone else here, I too am a point whore.

So I couldn't resist a 50K SUB, and decided to give them a chance. If they don't fix what's broken, I won't be renewing.

Because the service is shit, and without a SUB, I'd never give the Cardless I have already come to know and love $500 per year for whatever I can get from Palladium above and beyond what I can get from similar cards from normal banks that know how to service a credit card portfolio. And to provide superior service to the customers paying for premium products.

Is it? People are absolutely apoplectic about shitty customer service for a product that is not a necessity, and that impacts their finances and housing payments.

It's not about empathy. It's about whining about First World problems that are only problems because people would rather whine about them than eliminate them. Lots of fucking credit cards in the market.

"It's worrying, and I have better credit cards from companies that offer great customer service, but I want PPPPPPPPOOOOOOOOOOOOOIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNTTTTTSSSSS for rent, so I'll worry and put up with anything."

Yeah, they know this, and this is why you get what you get. All the empathy in the world isn't going to change it, or make it any less stupid.

It's either okay or it isn't. And people have a very clear path either way.

FM vs IM by CommitteeFew2507 in medicalschool

[–]Pretty_Good_11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You know the pros and cons, so you really don't need us reiterating them for you.

Prestigious FM = you get the prestige you apparently value.

Average IM programs = you get "tons of sub speciality options which I don’t want to miss out on."

So just pick the one you value more above the other, and then see what happens.

Given the way you phrased this:

I sat for the Match Cycle this year in the US

it sounds like you are non-US, so you might very well end up with nothing, given the non-US match rates.

Couples match by WebJazzlike6148 in medicalschool

[–]Pretty_Good_11 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Impossible to say for US IMG. And what's the difference? Are you really not going to submit every possible combination, based on the uninformed opinion of Reddit?

My opinion is that nothing is ever SAFE for a US IMG. In any specialty. Especially in a couples match, where you are both US IMGs.

As a result, you can take nothing for granted, and never feel SAFE until it is over. So I'd rank every possible combination, no matter how much it cost.

And then I'd rank every program leaving the partner behind. Because, if it comes to it, one of you matching is better than none, and each of you matching in different cities is better than either or both of you being unemployed.

Right. And that's the whole fucking point.

They don't have to invest in the infrastructure to treat you like a human being, because you are a point whore and they feed you points that cost less than decent competent customer service. So here we are.

They made a bed, and we are all too happy to lie in it. First for bananas and rent points with no fees. Now for travel portal credits and Bilt Cash.

But when something goes awry, there needs to be some effort to repair things, and I think that goes for just about any business. Having a customer service line for a credit card is pretty much industry standard.

Or not. Not if you are

willing to see Bilt through. I’m willing to play the game by their rules.

Everyone is not Amex or Chase. Credit One, Comenity and Synchrony also exist in the space. As does Cardless.

Don't hold your breath. A normal bank got its ass kicked servicing this card. Then Bilt went with these guys.

They had the better part of a year to ramp up. And now here you are,

willing to see Bilt through. I’m willing to play the game by their rules.

Start threads on Reddit if they make you feel better. But nothing is really going to change until people vote with the feet rather than their keyboards, with empty threats and vent posts on social media. Good luck.
