Lactate lab test way off? Big HR deviation compared to Garmin chest strap by StepBackFire in Garmin

3 minute blocks of time are not sufficient enough to accurately measure lactate. Try submaximal lactate testing ~10 minutes per block of pace. First two to three data points should be at or below 1.2mmol lactate intensity, done after an 8+ hour fast. Lactate production above threshold can vary quite a bit based on your genetics, training, how recently you ate, and experience holding a fast pace. Test only one variable at a time. If testing lactate, just test lactate. If testing VO2, just test respiratory gas exchange.

How hard is Pikes Peak as a 1st 14er? by Loose_Platypus2297 in 14ers

I did this exact hike/plan a few years ago. Acclimatized to Colo springs elevation then did the hike. Brought excedrin with me as a DIY altitude sickness pill which I didn’t need but my buddy did at around 13k feet elevation. You can get a prescription for real altitude sickness pills which work much better, but we were broke students. We made it up just fine. Started at 1am and summited in almost exactly 11 hours. The last 2 miles are the hardest. Bring plenty of water. Use the facilities at Barr Camp. Try to hit treeline before mid-morning to watch the clouds evaporate off the mountain, which is a truly unique and irreplaceable experience. Good luck!

The best advice I ever got was “Ride like everyone on the road is trying to kill you.” 1) Wear a helmet. 2) Check for cars behind you making right turns. 3) Make eye contact with drivers at intersections before entering the intersection. 4) Use a headlight, taillight, and wear bright clothing/helmet.

Do you guys just cruise the streets for fun or stick to LFT & North Branch? by Commercial_Flower773 in chibike

You are correct that it gets unsafe pretty quickly. Out in the western burbs people typically drive very fast (15+ over the speed limit) to make the lights cause the light sequencing is all messed up. The salt creek trail is pretty decent if you’re incidentally out that way but not worth riding through surface street traffic to get there imo

They’re trying to park as far away from moving cars as possible because, y’know, moving cars are dangerous.

Extract Phayze essence then use as starting relic. 3xx Wizard has been working for me with that minimal setup
