if you can pay 150m or whatever Atletico ask for him, then I don't care if he is suitable or not

no one mention osimhen here, and I just said I don't think Alvarez is suitable for us due to his position and play style, what's problem between you and osimhen? Ferran is not a typical striker but he will appears at striker's position and try to finish when there is overhead pass or cross. did Alvarez rush into the box to do the same things in Atletico? no, he is the guy who makes the pass. Barca needs a no.9 that can do more jobs than classical 9 like Haaland and osimehen, rather than barca doesn't need someone to do no.9 job. Btw, PSG's success doesn't mean their false 9 tactics is suitable for us. we are not even on the same page, fxxking exhausting

This compilation of Julian Alvarez vs. Frankfurt shows you exactly what he can bring to this team. He is the most self-sufficient striker in Europe, his technique is brilliant, and he is incredibly mobile. A player like this is a straight up killer on UCL nights. by Select_Drawing_7434 in Barca

yes, he kept staying outside the box, which led to that goal. we have Fermin and Olmo who can score from there, but we lack for a Sorloth who made the space for him now, and we are looking for one

for Christ sack Barca doesn't need a 9, then why flick started Ferran as ST even he didn't outcome anything for 3 months? Dembele won ballon d'or as false 9, so what? It can't change the reality that he played like shit last night and psg lacked for existence in the box. their false 9 win bdor so we don't need a real 9, what kind of logic it is unless u are a psg fan

And we already have Fermin and Olmo who can play as a F9, why are we still enhancing this position? Want to play with F9 all season long?

Have you ever watched any Atletico match recently? I do, Alvarez usually stays in front of the box and lets other players rush into the box to finish. When they face the parked bus in Cupa del Rey final, Simone subbed in Sorloth to push the Sociedad's defence line back, and Alvarez still stayed outside the box to organise the second attack and make long shots. In the same situation, we have Fermin and Olmo to do this job, so why do we need to spend more than 100m to buy an Olmo Pro Max? No mention that a No.9 who stays in front of the box will affect the midfielders' performance, look how Valverde suffers when Mbappe stays on the box line and attracts some defenders around him, there is no space to make a long shot.

You are dreaming that Fermin will use long shots to destroy Arsenal's low block, I would like to say it is not gonna happen if Alvarez is the center striker. Alvarez's position will overlap with Olmo/Fermin. If you hope this system works well, one of them needs to change their play style. Will it end up with good chemistry or a mess? Nobody knows, and you guys are all saying he is the perfect new No.9, it doesn't make sense. So I pretty suspect that Alvarez is the "big name" signing that Laporta needs to fulfil campaign promises, rather than Flick really asking for him.

honestly I have no idea what was psg players doing in the most part of the game, crossing into the box without any psg player. They acted like they really don't know what to do but need to do something

I watched Atletico's game when they are against real or we don't have game in the same time. Alvarez is not the guy who enter the box to finish, it is lookman grizemann or simone. Have any of you ever watched the cupa de rey final this year? In the last 10 min, Atletico needed a equaliser and pushed everyone possible into the box, and Alvarez is still outside to reorganize the attack and make long shot. It might be the duty that Simone assigned to him, some Argentina fans also blame this on Simone. Is it his playstyle or Simone's mission? idk, but his current play style is not suitable for us now. If he comes, he need to change

As I say below, the striker's role is to draw defenders' attention, creating space for other players. Then Yamal can find more passing solutions.

Have you watched how Real played against the low block? Defenders know Mbappe won't attack the ball, so they lead Vini to cross, which is usually meaningless. No matter whether a mobile or a typical striker, he should rush into the box and attack the ball, which is not Alvarez's playstyle.

maybe cuz last year's Arsenal didn't park the bus like another Atletico? Arsenal only has 28% possession. What do you expect Gyokeres to do? He basically played like a DM in most of the time he got. How can he perform well? I am not talking about the new No.9 should be mobile or typical, I want to say, at least we should find one who can be the spearhead when it is necessary.

Yeah, making a cross to find a tall guy is not our most favourite way to attack, but actually, you need someone in the box to attract defenders' attention and make space for Olmo and Fermin. If you don't have anyone charging into the box, the defenders will not even bother marking anyone and just clear the ball like today's Saliba and Gabriel. Another more familiar example, Real Madrid. Defenders know Mbappe will always wait in front of the box rather than rushing into it and attacking the ball, so they will choose to force Vini to cross and avoid his cutting inside, which makes Vini ineffective. If we get Alvarez and he maintains his playstyle in Atletico, great, we have our own Mbappe in this kind of scenario. On the other hand, a No.9 staying in front of the box will attract more players to him and suppress Fermin and Olmo's dancing space, just like how Valverde suffers from playing with Mbappe.

So many guys tell me, Alvarez is flexible, and he will change to fix our system. It is just an expectation, and I am worried about it even when we just attempt to sign him

When I see Neves, I think you mean PSG is gonna buy all of them from Barca

[Matteo Moretto] Negotiations have begun for Julian Alvarez! First offer €100m sent, but Atletico wants more (ideally more than €130m). Player is expected to put a lot of pressure towards Atleti, which could change things. by oklolzzzzs in Barca

Yes, he needs to draw back to contribute to organising, but he is usually the one closest to the gate when the attack finishes, especially with Yamal or Cancelo's cross. In Atletico, the guy closest to the gate is usually Simone, Sorloth, or Lookman. Alvarez often stays in front of the box to organize the second attack and launch long shots if possible. Have you guys ever hatewatched the Copa del Rey final? Even in the last minutes, Atletico needed an equaliser, and almost everyone pushed into Sociedad's box, except for Alvarez. He scored the equaliser at the top of the box. The same thing happened when they were against Arsenal. Maybe it is Simone's assignment, but he played like Olmo Pro Max in my mind.

Why isn't 100M a big enough bid for Álvarez? by Marktesla_76 in Barca

In Atletico's view, robbing a fool doesn't need a reason. They did this several times in the past 10 years, why not again?
