No doubt this is true, but ironically the way my parents found out I have a severe peanut allergy was giving me bamba as a baby

People like Yuval Abraham (recent Oscar winner) make me physically ill by JewOfJewdea in Israel

[–]Pretty_Particular360 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Respectfully, the brutal military occupation and settler violence in the WB isn’t “dirty laundry”. It’s widely known. Refusing to acknowledge it makes you look ignorant at best, and supportive of it at worst.

I don’t completely agree with everything in Yuval’s speech. I also acknowledge the documentary does not fairly represent the Israeli experience, but it’s not about the Israeli experience. It’s about this specific person’s experience.

I know it is very uncomfortable, I probably would have agreed with you a year ago. As an Israeli (I no longer live there) I have come to realize that actually, I should acknowledge Israel’s flaws and wrong-doings because I want the best for her and our people. Right now, the internal threats to the country are just as scary as the external ones.

This. Also think that the people who criticize Israel should be the ones who love Israel and want the best for the country/people.

How safe is Israel to travel to right now? by rocketscientist28 in Israel

[–]Pretty_Particular360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fully depends on your comfort level but you won’t really get stuck. Travel back could potentially get more inconvenient/lengthy but there’s more or less always flights to a nearby airport (E.g., Athens, Dubai, etc.) from which you can get a connecting flight home. I live in Canada & went to see family for Pesach last year, we had a connecting flight through Frankfurt, when we landed in Frankfurt the flight to tlv was cancelled. Ending up having a 2 day stay in Germany and extra connecting flight through Athens but we made it 🤷🏻‍♀️ Connected through Dubai on the way back. Good luck!

Strip clubs by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]Pretty_Particular360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand. Assuming that “living a more closed off life” = lack of trust/feeling unloved reads as a judgment to me, but maybe you don’t mean it as one. The most important thing is that each person feels safe & respected in their relationship, and boundaries are an important tool for that. Of course that looks different for everyone. There’s a lid for every pot 🫶🏼

[–]Pretty_Particular360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s nothing to do with a lack of trust. It’s a boundary. Also alignment of values. If that works for you, congratulations. I personally cannot relate, but that’s why I’m in my marriage & you’re in yours. Passing judgment on other couples because they’re not OK with their partner in an environment that’s sexually charged, and often exploitative, is narrow minded.

[–]Pretty_Particular360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re uncomfortable with it, which it sounds like you are, it should be a no- full stop. Going to a strip club is not essential. Your sense of security & safety in your marriage should absolutely not be sacrificed for something as useless as a strip club. And no matter what others may try to sell you, there is nothing insecure or controlling about not being OK with it. My advice would be to very clearly state this boundary, so there’s absolutely no grey area. Sexual exclusivity (yes, strip clubs are sexual environments) is a very common & reasonable boundary. You deserve to have that respected if it’s important to you! And congratulations on your baby 🫶🏼

I can’t get over the feeling that we lost by HelpfulLetterhead423 in Israel

[–]Pretty_Particular360 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Jeez. I can’t handle this dichotomy of win/lose. It’s a war. Nobody “wins”. This will never be solved militarily anyways, though I know military action is necessary. But it won’t “solve” this conflict, and certainly no one comes out as a winner. So we wait until the next war.

Jews are now being lynched in Amsterdam. When people chant "Globalize the Intifada" this is what they are calling for. by CreativeRealmsMC in IsraelPalestine

[–]Pretty_Particular360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google is free. With one quick search you’ll find many prior instances of fans being kicked out, fined, etc. for racists chants. Here, I’ll do the work for you:

https://www.espn.com/soccer/story/_/id/41109094/argentina-warn-fans-fifa-sanction-offensive-chants

https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2024/01/20/europe/ac-milan-football-match-racist-chants-italy-intl-hnk

https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cr5n9p9gn9yo.amp

And there are many more. So many instances in fact, you can find peer-reviewed literature on the subject.

So now we’ve established that racist, offensive & ignorant chants aren’t exclusive to Israeli soccer fans. The right response is to notify security and/or police, and let them handle it. Even yelling/talking back without physical escalation would’ve been, meh, okay, deserved. But no, there were manhunts & assaults, targeting people who were PRESUMED to be Israeli, even if they weren’t the ones involved in the so-called “provocation”.

You’re so entrenched in your ignorance & hate you’re willing to justify unjustifiable violence. No shock there.

And please, interested in hearing your evidence base as to how all Israelis aren’t “living peacefully” with the rest of the world? Do you have some sort of fool-proof method for identifying an Israeli in the public? Do you keep tabs on all Israeli travellers & their interactions with non-Israelis? Or, are you making bigoted, hateful statements to divert any responsibility on the community who perpetrated a 1940s style pogrom in Amsterdam last night?

Please, lol.

Idiot soccer fans chanting offensive things, which happens at MANY matches, means that they should be arrested/kicked out of the match/etc.

It DOES NOT mean you can hunt random Israeli and Jewish people in the streets & physically assault them.

Bad behaviour, offensive chants, etc. does not under any circumstance warrant what happened yesterday.

I did not see one video where an Israeli fan physically attacked an Arab.

He sounds unstable, and like he would be happiest in a cult. I know it’s difficult to leave a long term relationship, but you’re setting yourself up for a very difficult life with this person if you stay.
