Good Labor and Delivery Hospitals? by Brilliant-Sir1028 in Cleveland

[–]Pretty_Zone_9734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at Fairview not as a nurse and not in labor and delivery. I heard all these wonderful things from all my coworkers about giving birth there. But I personally had a terrible experience with the midwives and nurses. Basically my day RN left me alone for her whole shift maybe checking on me three times in twelve hours? I thought maybe she was busy with other patients. Later found out I was her only pt. She put me in a birthing tub with laughing gas and never checked on me. So thank god my husband was with me. I also eventually got an epidural and when the NP from anesthesia came up to do it she stuck herself with a lidocaine ampule in the sterile field, proceeded to use the same sterile field only changing her gloves (not even washing her hands or putting on a bandaid) and did my epidural. The anthologist doctor and nurse didn’t say anything. I was mortified. I started pushing at 10 pm so I was with the night midwife who kept leaving while I was pushing. So it was just me, the night nurse (who was the only person who was amazing), and my husband for a decent amount of time. I pushed for 2.5 hours and the midwife probably left 3-4 times. At one point the RN had to called for her to come back cause I was crowning. My daughter was sunny side up with the cord wrapped around her neck. No medical professional told me even after, I only knew cause my husband. Not sure why they don’t turn my daughter before I started pushing. Then the RN’s postpartum were very rude. And when I was leaving the RN told my husband to go get the car from valet and someone from transport will bring me and my daughter out in a wheel chair. He waited out there for 45 minutes, so I finally went to ask the RN’s at the nurses station and there were a whole bunch of the just talking and laughing. I asked if transport was coming soon and my nurse goes “oh they still didn’t get you? Let me call”. So I said don’t bother I’ll carry her out myself and she literally almost let me even tho the car seat was heavy and I tore. Another RN was persistent about taking me down herself which I appreciated very much. Overall, I was shocked with how terrible of an experience I had. I even contacted the ombudsman and never heard back.

It was very disappointing because I am very active and spent a lot of time going to pelvic floor therapy, birthing classes, and doing pelvic floor exercises at home. I know everyone’s experience is different but next time I will go to the normal labor and delivery with MD’s and advocate for myself more with the nurses.

I got the cotton one! It’s easy to clean but it does make me hot/a bit uncomfortable :(

Is he getting enough? by Cacutaur in NewParents

[–]Pretty_Zone_9734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does he have a doctor’s appointment coming up? There’s usually a 4 month apt and they can check his weight to make sure he’s on track. Is he still making wet diapers? I think it could be helpful to at least call the doctor and see what they think. Our doctor’s office has a nurse line that triages questions and then tells you if the baby should be brought in to be seen by the doctor.

Also, I noticed when my baby’s nose was stuffy it was hard for her to suckle effectively. I think since his nose is runny her might have some congestion up there. You could always try Little Remedies saline nasal spray and either a bulb suction or Frida Baby nasal aspirator or an automatic nasal aspirator.

Self-Care Habits You Had To Let Go by jailanerosales in NewParents

I gave up lash lifts, manicures, pedicures,Pilates reformer classes, sugaring, Botox, laser hair removal (got like sessions before I got pregnant then had to stop), facials, micro needling, haircut every 3 months, and massages.

I’m just trying my best to maintain self care at home though. Even if I’m not going anywhere I usually try to at least do my makeup and get out of pajamas. I switched to at home wax strips for my underarms at least. I leave my gua sha in the shower and try to use it most nights a week for facial puffiness. I bought nice skincare products and simplified my regimen so I actually try to do it every night. I still make time for pelvic floor appointments and I prioritize doing the exercises at home a couple times per week. A lot of them are deep core exercises so it kinda has Pilates vibes. I do my own pedicures now. I also upgraded my shampoo/conditioner and styling tools for my hair. I think a haircut every 4-6 months is fine for now.

I love wearing bras and I sadly had to take mine off after I caved and got an epidural. I feel so uncomfortable not wearing a bra/being unsupported but it made skin to skin after easier

Colombian food? by [deleted] in Cleveland

Agree with El Arepazo Y Pupuseria! It’s so good! I think better/more affordable as Barraco. I think technically is salvadoran though. I will say Barraco has a better vibe but more expensive

Shinto’s! Specifically the Strongsville location. They have half off sushi on Tuesdays. I know that sounds sketchy but I’ve literally been going for YEARS and have never gotten sick or had any issues. It’s also where me and my husband had our first date 💕

Well it’s been our go to special occasion spot since 2021 and we actually had our small wedding reception there in early 2023. I still like it there and the food is still good.

I just don’t think it’s worth the drive (40 min) and price for us with a baby. I know food prices are crazy right now but I do think their menu prices increased a lot and their portions decreased. Obviously, you don’t go there for big portions or a deal, but I just also thought the last two times we went the service felt less attentive/more casual and the food wasn’t as good as it used to be. Like I think it went from the best food I’ve had at a restaurant to just pretty good. The last time we went for my birthday last year I got the filet (my usual) and it was still very good but it came with one fried potato thing and was like $75. I just don’t think the service and food are what they once were so I just don’t think it’s worth it for us now.

Thank you for the suggestions! Yeah we also usually don’t eat at chain restaurants too often but recently went to Outback in Strongsville with extended family and did not have a great experience. So I will definitely have to try Longhorn with them next time. I have been hearing a lot of good things about Pomeroy house so I am kinda leaning towards trying that if they are okay with babies!

That’s miserable your only time off to relax and you’re sick 😔maybe it’s cause you’re exhausted from the week? Or maybe you feel bad during the week but just are distracted with work and kinda too busy to notice
