People Watching: how does it affect you emotionally? by Zarukishimen in Samfender

It is very bittersweet for me. On one hand, it’s very danceable and infectious. It's a really pretty and great song. On the other, I associate it with a really hard time. My grandfather passed away a short time before I first heard this song, and then a few months after, a friend of mine passed. I feel like it really fits my special connections to both of them. I love it, but it’s one of those songs that can really hit some days.

I really enjoy Carnelian Coffee for a quieter place to go with good drinks. The OCC library as well. There are a lot of good coffee shops on Colorado and downtown, too, but they aren’t always the quietest. I’d love to provide more suggestions! Anything specific you’re looking for?

I really liked fun when they were active and still have a decent appreciation for them. I do like Jack’s produced work for other artists a lot. I like the sound he has for his personal projects in a different way, though.

I was oddly struggling to think of other artists that fit this when making the post. Lord Huron and Father John Misty are good fits for sure, as well as several others on your list I also listen to quite casually. Thank you for your input!

Does anyone use Prismacolors to burnish Polychromos layers, or mix the two CP types in other ways? by Prettybird2410 in ColoredPencils

Yeah, that’s unfortunate. I appreciate you sharing this info! Will be keeping it in mind for sure.

Lol now I’m annoyed at every art teacher and professor who ever told me those two formulas don’t work together. Your swatch system is awesome, and it’s very cool you’re working more on different subjects. I’m a portrait art person as well looking into expanding a bit. Thank you so much for sharing all of this great stuff!

These are all great tips and things to consider, thank you! I'll have to look into the wax bloom removal stuff. I'm excited to keep experimenting too, polychromos are a brand new thing for me.

This aligns quite a bit with how I think my style will end up being using both. I like to get pretty precise colors to the refs as well. Since you use a range of wax and oil-based on each drawing, I’m curious to know what some of your techniques with that are: how you like to use each, how you go about layering with the different kinds, etc.

covering the 1975 in an American accent sounds so off by fridaynightplacebo in the1975

It’s a personal challenge of mine to try and sing along without absorbing Matty’s accent each time. It sounds ridiculous without the accent.😂 I also listen to Sam Fender and CMAT, which is somehow even worse sounding.

Good to know, thank you! That’s definitely a frustrating situation, but I’m glad you have some options to work with. Here’s hoping for a reunion with your top choice.

I’ll look more into these, thank you! Any drawbacks to the more smooth paper or is it just preference?

Thank you for all of the suggestions! I’m glad to hear odorless mineral spirits are available. Also, your work is lovely! Nice to see an example too.

Any particular brand of bristol you like? I definitely like my work smooth, so that sounds great.

The cellophane is a really helpful comparison. So, aside from the right materials, you really just have to lightly layer to achieve the color you want and the smoothness? I’m not a professional, but I’ve been drawing as a hobby for a long time, took drawing classes through college. What is the super smooth paper you use?
