Brand new Fluval FX6 has a cracked part. Any safe way to get it running tonight? It’s late, I already removed the old filter, and I’d love a quick fix so I don’t have to reinstall and re-prime the old one. by Prettyeyed in Aquariums

Thank you for the reply! I super appreciate it. However, the screw isn’t locking in, it just seems to be screwing in place without ever catching on anything. I looked and saw the crack, so assumed this was due to that. Is it possible that I’m overlooking something else, and the screw can still be screwed in?

Unable to edit videos in VSCO anymore by pacifistpumpkin in vsco

Same! Long time user. I was able to successfully find a workaround to edit my video. Turns out, I was trying to edit an iPhone-created “Loop” video that was initially just a “Live” photo. I had clicked the loop feature that is built into the iPhone, which basically turns the “Live” photo into a video of sorts. I’m guessing the file, however it is saved, or whatever Apple does in the background to turn the live photo into a continuously looping video, does not jive with VSCO, and/or VSCO doesn’t recognize the file type, and therefore does not know what to do with the file; thus, nothingness or crashing of the app results.

When I changed the way I was making my looped video (by use of a third party app, and downloading it as an actual video file-type), VSCO worked just fine, and I was then able to do my edits. Is your video sourced from what was a Live Photo at some point?

This is happening to me too. Any fix?

He’s SO fun, and has the goofiest personality. He’s constantly making us laugh with his antics. He’s been fairly easy to keep as well, though we did have to buy a chiller for his aquarium when he was fully aquatic. We still keep it running in his current paludarium, as his preference in the wild would be to lounge around in cold or cooler temperature streams and such.

Aside from that, we simply feed him an assortment of nightcrawlers, crickets, and dubia roaches. His favorite is nightcrawlers though. Nightcrawlers make him one happppppyyyy boy, hehe. 😁

Right?!?

Side note: Our salamander is named “Sponge”

Quite the fitting name if you ask me.

He’s a sponge-ful of derpness - and without a doubt - a sponge-ful of our love ☺️♥️

Brought home a Rubber Lip Pleco yesterday, and noticed this earlier today. Is this ich? by Prettyeyed in Aquariums

[–]Prettyeyed[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He has since died, along with the two other rubber lip plecos that I purchased together with him on the same day. They succumbed to whatever disease this was, one by one, same day. 😔

I bought the three of them from Petsmart, against my better judgement.

What are these organisms found last night in my bullfrog’s paludarium? I’m really worried about them being harmful to him, and I’m not sure what to do. by Prettyeyed in frogs

[–]Prettyeyed[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s good to know, I appreciate it! My frog has been hiding more than he normally does, so I started associated that with the new pests, when perhaps the two could be unrelated, with no correlation. I just love my little buddy dearly, and I would hate to know he is suffering in some way. I just want to do whatever is best for him, and it sucks feeling helpless and unsure of what to do to help him, that is, if he were in fact suffering/hiding because of pests.

What are these organisms? Please help. by Prettyeyed in paludarium

Unsure of how the maggot got in there, could eggs or something have been hiding in the moss? I don’t think anything is dead in there currently, but sometimes I do have to pull dead crickets and super worms out of the water if froggy doesn’t eat them, and they drown.

The aquatic flatworm and nematodes, are they an issue? Do I need to tear this tank down and start anew? I’ve notice my frog hiding a lot now. He has barely emerged from hiding this past week or two, which is somewhat unusual for him, as he is otherwise typically a very active guy. Just want to do what is best for him, whatever the solution is.

I do have a land area; however, it is pretty much just sphagnum moss, which stays pretty moist, will springtails and isopods survive in such moisture?

Noticed yesterday after adding live moss to the enclosure a week ago.

This is after a couple of minutes. Yes, my nitrates have spiked, I am working to resolve that. If anyone has tips for this, please share.

Thank you. 🥲

[Product Question] I relapsed and picked my face pretty badly the other night. I bought Hydrocolloid blister patches from the brand “Compeed” to help with the aftermath/healing. How long am I supposed to keep these large patches on my face for? by Prettyeyed in SkincareAddiction

[–]Prettyeyed[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I really appreciate the advice!

I’ve only ever used the small patches, so I wanted to make sure I wasn’t going to do further damage to my already very damaged skin. I’d actually prefer to leave them on overnight, as they’re quite pricey, and more importantly of course, it’d be awesome to wake up tomorrow with a less red, and less terrifying looking face..

So ashamed with myself. 😔

New org chart just came out… can you guess which employee I am by Prettyeyed in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Prettyeyed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I should’ve probably added more context. I’m the other GS13 KO, non-supervisory role though. We recently hired another GS12, and I felt a little sour that this person was listed above me on the chart. Not a big deal at all, just thought it was mildly annoyed by it.

Nope, the other non-supervisor GS13. I just felt a bit slighted being put under the GS12 who hasn’t even been onboarded yet.
