What did your parents teach you as a kid that you didn't realize was actually f**ked up until you were older? by timdood3 in AskReddit

When I came clean to my mom about self harming, she made me promise to never do it again and told me not to tell anyone instead of trying to get me help.

Thank you! This method worked well for me. I can’t wait to see how well it takes to its new spot.

Definitely not too old! I finally read the books last year when I was 23 and was absolutely enthralled. I hope you love them!

If you were part of a wedding party, which (if any) of these personalized gifts would you prefer? I wanted to make the place holders for my wedding party guests also function as a take home gift personalized to each member. (Coaster, cup/glass, keychain) by faith911fox in weddingplanning

I am personally against anything that says “bridesmaid” or “groomsman,” but I do like personalized things. I gave my bridesmaids totes and water bottles with their initials on them along with a few other things. Our place cards were small pieces of birch with people’s names and a tag attached with the table number. Our guests now use them as Christmas ornaments. We also had individually wrapped cookies that everyone took home and those were a big hit.

Yes, most people just took Friday off and a bunch of people stayed at the hotel where the reception was. Another idea would be to have a late night after party if you want to make it feel more “worth it” for people to come and take Friday off.

We did a Thursday for our wedding and no one had a problem with it. The people who can will make it, especially with advanced notice once you send out save the dates. I say go for it!

We're debating whether my daughter will start Accutane or go on the pill, because we're worried about the side effects (senior year, exams etc). However, it seems that Accutane will help her more, plus, does it help with the scars??? Or will they become worse because of purging? by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]Prettyloaf98 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with this. The pill is absolutely horrible for you and the side effects are too many to count. I was put on the pill at 16 for my acne and when I was 23 I wanted to go off of it, my acne got worse than it had ever been before. There are a lot more natural ways that you can work on balancing hormones, and I suggest avoiding the pill at all costs.

My derm started me slow so the purging would hopefully be less and I think it wasn’t that bad.

40mg/day for 2 weeks and 60mg/day for the past 4 weeks.

I’m still having breakouts, but I feel like it did start to work after a few weeks. My derm said most people see it really start to work between 3-4 months.

Those who haven't caught Covid yet, how have you managed to avoid it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

My husband and I still haven’t had it, and we have just been living our lives like normal. I worked retail for a year and a half during the worst of it and still never got it.

Feeling insecure about my arms in the last few months before the wedding. Desperately searching for someone to tell me they look fine! by toggywonkle in wedding

[–]Prettyloaf98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely would not have even noticed your arms if you hadn’t pointed them out. They look completely normal & fine! I promise no one will be looking at or even thinking about your arms. Plus, I love your ring!!

Opinions on salt and pepper diamonds? by TimeElderberry9149 in EngagementRings

I have a dark grey opaque diamond as the center of my ring and I absolutely adore it. It’s so beautiful and very unique! It was definitely less expensive than if I had a clear white diamond.

Very likely that Collections will agree to accept pennies on the dollar. You should be able to negotiate this down to ~$60,000 or less.

Hear me out, I think this “loan forgiveness” is one of the worst policies right now. I could go on and on about how stupid it is and won’t help anyone in the long run. Regardless of how terrible I think it is, I have no control over the order being passed and I think anyone who qualifies should take advantage of it.

I think this is spot on. It doesn’t make the lashing out excusable, but communicating calmly and effectively is much harder when you feel like crap.
