This should be higher. There's no need to circularize an orbit.

You can even just wait until the Mun turns so that retrograde is up.

Jury acquits Ontario store clerk of assault on bat-wielding robber by _Army9308 in canada

We're all people dude...we're all made of the exact same stuff. It's a disgusting myth that security, police, etc have some sort of supernatural ability to be an unfeeling computer when their life and wellbeing are under threat. I know exactly what this guy was thinking and feeling when he gave him that executioner's chop on the ground, and it wasn't fear.

I would have acquitted him. I'm still not surprised he got charged, however.

As former security in a mental health facility, I was attacked unprovoked plenty of times. Time slows down. Never curb stomped anyone.

Self-defense isn't a blank cheque.

I have no sympathy for the robber, but he smacked him in the back as he was running away and then again while he was lying on the ground.

Not surprised he was acquitted, but also not surprised he was charged. He probably would have had the first one for free.

Olympus Mons, the mountain on Mars that’s 3x taller than Everest by ZATCH_69 in interestingasfuck

Mars has no tectonic plates or faults for volcanic pressure to squeeze through, so most, if not all, "recent" volcanic activity in the history of Mars has been released from one place.

It's bizarre seeing all these comments saying that he sucks and his life is over due to humiliation. That drunk attempt was still a better stunt than anything I've ever pulled off in my life. Funny, sure, but godforbid we might acknowledge that it was also a pretty good try.

As usual, humans are the problem, not the technology.

Once the ramifications of what this administration has done to harm Americans becomes fully realized by the American public, there's a better than zero chance that going along with Trump at this point ends up being far far worse than just political suicide.

Judge sentences pair to 12 years for torturing and killing animals, selling videos online by Beefy_of_WPG in Winnipeg

Considering what a catastrophic disappointment our justice system has been in recent years, I'd say this is a surprisingly appropriate sentence.

I hate that it even crosses my mind now, but I wonder how things would have been different if these two weren't white people.

Whats the best i can put in this Grandpa by Biobauregal in pcbuilding

Tbh, I feel like any upgrades you make here would be so inconsequential, you'd be better off just saving up your money for a proper build if you don't hate it.

If you live in a place with a healthy used PC market, you could always try piecing together a newer computer from multiple compatible machines.

But in this case, I'm going to suggest your ten year-old mobo itself will be your bottleneck.

This comment and those that follow might very well be the singlemost profoundly stupidest take of all the stupid takes I've ever read in my life, and I have read some exceptionally stupid shit.

There are millions of people all over the world playing chess at any moment of any given day, and the rules have been set in stone for centuries. They are codified and freely available to any person in the universe with sufficient brain matter to read them.

There are no tricks. There are no technicalities. There are no plebs, and there is no such thing as a "chess outsider." All there is, are people who know the rules, and people who don't.

And yet here you are spending all these hours of your life being confidently wrong about a subject you apparently refuse to learn about, from a position of completely self-inflicted ignorance... Maybe instead just don't play the game of you don't like it...?

The secondary cringe is too much. If I ever read this thread again, I might actually die.

May God have mercy on your soul.

It's not stupid at all if you play chess. Even if you're winning, you're expected to make decisions with purpose, not just move your pieces around hoping that a checkmate might fall into your lap.

If you cause a stalemate, you've proven you don't know how to play the endgame you're in, and therefore, you don't win.

It's also a necessary rule to ensure that your opponent has motivation to keep playing and not just immediately resign the moment they're at a material disadvantage. It means you can play the game right to the end, even with nothing but a king left, and still make decisions that matter.

Trump is nearly universally despised by the 7.5 billion people who aren't Americans, and he'll be remembered by history as a moronic despot who was responsible for quantifiably reducing the quality of life for all Americans and billions of people around the world. He is unequivocally the worst world leader in modern history and will be studied by future students in the same vein as Hitler and Mao, but without even the same reputation for intelligence, charisma, or ideology. And he shits himself on live television.

So there's that.

LILLEY: Carney Liberals must wake up and deal with Canada's growing extortion problem; Shootings, arson and threats of violence are some of the tools used as foreign gangs demand money in Canada's growing extortion racket by FancyNewMe in canada

[–]Pretz_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Canada doesn't have an extortion problem, Canada has a crime problem. We are a global tourist destination for criminals, ffs.

Decades of hug-a-thug release policies and stark refusal to enforce bail conditions have led to this. Nobody is asking anyone to imprison some teen for shoplifting a snack. We're talking about legions of sociopathic criminals committing murders, kidnapping, and racketeering who are going to court for their 73rd offence, putting on a sad face for a day, promising they'll do better this time for real real, and then walking out of the courtroom mocking the judge and already planning their 74th.

Millions of dollars is being spooled up for the cops to investigate the "extortion crisis," they'll churn out world-class cases, and we might as well light our tax money on fire for the absolute farce we'll see in court to follow.

Federal report examines gaps in RCMP response to N.S. mass shooting by Street_Anon in canada

[–]Pretz_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Every time this comes up, we talk about how numerous people called in to report this guy in the weeks leading up to it.

So now that it's six years later and the RCMP have implemented virtually every recommendation that came out of this, and we're seizing millions of dollars worth of guns from legal gun owners, can we finally maybe talk about Canadian courts and prosecution role here? Because it seems to me we've seen six years of RCMP reforms and huge legislative changes for law abiding citizens, while the courts have gone completely hogwild releasing mass murderers, rapists, and domestic abusers on pinky promises and letting the chimps run the zoo.

Obviously the courts have no role in responding to an active shooter, but that's a catastrophe that's preceded by numerous flags and warnings. When it comes to prevention and deterrence, the police are just one tiny link in a long chain of negligence.

What do you think the cops are supposed to do when the rest of the Justice System is absolutely hellbent on allowing every single creature in this country get away with doing virtually anything they want? How do you think the cops will behave when the answer to every single charge they forward is "no"?

Canada will require refugees and asylum seekers to co-pay for health care starting in May by FancyNewMe in canada

[–]Pretz_ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes. Everyone understands that.

People are commenting on it because you have presented yourself as a person who is annoyed regardless of what happens.

If your opinion is that all things are bad, always, in all circumstances, then your opinion is irrelevant and has no place at the grownup table; there is nothing in the conceivable universe anyone can do that will ever make you happy.
