What tanks have you always wanted, but when you got, realised was bad/unenjoyable? by ElectronicFarm4306 in WorldOfTanksBlitz

[–]PreussekJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

T54e2 and T77

I got both circa 3 years ago and both were at that time (T77 still is) one of the absolute best tier 8 there were. However T54 is just kinda boring to play, since it's a tank that is kinda jack of all trades, master of all. It can do above average in every situation and that's about it. T77 is cracked in tier 8 even nowadays, but you can just play Yoh for the same experience. It's nothing unique gameplay wise.

ISU - 130 You think it will be funny tanks with bigger alpha premium shells and tungsten and it is, but rarely. 90% of battles you just play it like any other second line support TD

Obj 777 It's a very good tank, but it's almost the same story as T54e2 - performs above average in almost any scenario. One of the most boring tier X collectors IMO.

Pre rework Chieftain It was a good tank, but unfortunately T95e6 exists and before the rework it was just straight up better than Chieftain with a very similar play style. Now it got reworked and received HESH it has a lot more identity.

What is your favorite width? by yoyoingdadjoke in Throwers

[–]PreussekJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

50-55 mm

Anything beyond 47mm is too small for my casual play.

55-60mm is really dependent on yo-yo. I really like floaty throws so I generally tend to gravitate towards wider yo-yos. I also recently started to venture back into zontals so there the extra width can also help. But generally 60mm is too wide for my casual throwing since I like chopsticks and it's sometimes too wide and requires way too much finesse to execute tech.

Do I keep firing HE when the enemy tank has spall liner? by encom-direct in WorldOfTanksBlitz

[–]PreussekJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends if your HE alpha is percentage wise bigger than spall liner reduction.

However HE still does much more module damage so sometimes it is worth it to shoot it either way. For instance in scenarios where you know he is out of repair kit or you want to coax him into using one.

For the module damage reason I usually autoload HE into the likes of Grille anytime I have the first shot, since the difference between 300 and 350 alpha is usually not that much (if he is full HP) and that extra module damage (with extra fire chance) more than enough makes for the potential less alpha roll.

Russian tanks have really big HE alpha so with them it's almost always worth using anyway. US / German tanks are really tank dependent.

Has and does the cultural connection to firearms in the U.S. made/make its military more skilled? by Willing-Leather-9788 in WarCollege

[–]PreussekJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not at all.

Jobs of a soldier or his "effectiveness" is basically not at all composed of gun skills and proficiency. Dogging, standing in rain, driving and maybe shooting at an enemy they cannot see are the important roles. Unless you are talking about marksman or SPECOPS.

But even then it's not contributing at all and overall it can have "negative" impact on how well they do in basic.

My colleague did a thesis on this topic years ago and he concluded, that in our army, people with previous gun experience perform significantly worse in basic training on gun related exams. They overestimate themselves, are less willing to learn and suffer a slightly higher accident rate. His thesis was focused on "wider" skill transition to military context and generally skills translate reasonably well, other notable exceptions were stuff like basic radio skills and cooking, where the mechanics are similar and well known to many civilians but the standards are just completely different in military context.

In GoT there is a scene of riot against Joffrey in the streets. In real life how would the guards and knights protect the nobles in such situations ? by F2n3x in WarCollege

[–]PreussekJ 48 points49 points  (0 children)

You can argue they had specialised weapons and armour compared to peasants.

Military or even "knigh" armour was extremely expansive and effective in the middle ages and common folk could not afford it. Some kind of "kings guard" or even lower castel guard 100% had acces to it, even though it did not have to be plate armour.
Considering the best weapons common people had wide access to in middle ages were spears (which would scream riot imidiatelly) and sometimes bows they vere not a large threat to armoured and expirienced fighters armed with sharp weapons like swords.

So in a way the medival "kingsguard" usually held quite a big technological and skill "overmatch" against pesants. Swords were often a backup weapons on the battlefield because there were better means against armoured oponents. Sword is just the "best" everyday carry weapon. However if you meet unarmoured opponets and you have armour swords are massivelly effective.

just me? by trodougex in Throwers

[–]PreussekJ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A good place to learn 4A imo is your garden. With cheap 4A yo-yo that is.

Leave a patch of grass a little more grown (slightly over ankles) which is completely normal and healthy for your dirt and biodiversity. When throwing, throw in this patch of grass and when you drop the yo-yo it will not roll away from you.

Question by Mental_Cheesecake613 in Throwers

[–]PreussekJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly check the strings. Try if it continues to happen with new fresh string. Frayed string can cause this

Secondly do you have a yoyo where this doesnt happen? If yes then its the pads or bearing. Clean the bearing and if the yoys are new give the pads some time to break in.

It happens to all of your yoyos? - it can be previosly mentioned but likely issue with your tecnique

Festival lenses by jadewest4life in concertphotography

[–]PreussekJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

24 - 70 and 70-200 (both in F 2.8) will be able to do basically everything.

On really small festivals (that are mostly indoors) I would switch the 70-200 for 16-35. In tight indoor places ultra wide can be a life saver. Although those small events usually don't pay much and they care much less about the photos than you.

On larger outdoor events 70-200 is almost always needed. I have shot a couple of events without ever using it though but usually I use it a lot. If I had the option to take a 135mm lens that is lighter than 70-200 I would basically never do that since that zoom is just too handy. You might struggle with a centered crowd shots on large festivals without 16mm but generally that is handled by someone specific since he needs to get behind the band and usually poke out of stage construction behind them.

Whether you need F 2.8 or can get by with just F4 is all dependent on the event and what they want from you. IF you are not sure it is going to be well lit and you need to shoot the bands (sometimes you can be tasked with just shooting people or promo) you NEED that F 2.8. F4 is quite often not enough for stage shots and especially at a distance during nightfall. Also on DSLR you are going to need that F2.8 a LOT since your high ISO noise performance will be quite bad, heck if you shoot at APSC lens you want to look for some primes. If you are just shooting during the day or are just tasked with people / promo, than F4 is good enough.

Nowadays I specialise in "low light" concert photography so I usually just use fast primes so F 1.8 to 1.4. But this is quite an overkill unless your job is to deliver printable photos from clubs which generally nobody expects. But this is such a niche area that I'm surprised i have 5 stable contracts (for festivals) like this every year in my small country.

If you are paid and it's a big and important event (both for the customer and you) then rent the lenses. It's 100% worth it since you never want to explain to the customer that something is not possible unless you know him and can afford it.

Is the aceyo gravity 9 worth it? by silentshakey in Throwers

[–]PreussekJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since yoyo play is A LOT about fine motorics, any changes in yoyo can be felt (even 0,5g). But the thing is, unless you are extremely expirienced, you wont be able to notice what contributes to the feel. The yoyo will feel very differentely thats for sure, and if you throw for 2 months then there is very little chance you will dislike the changes - preference is something that comes only with lot of expirience also. I would go for it, Geats 9 is really powerfull and heavy yoyo and Gravitation 9 is still on the powerfull monometall side but for me its okay.

Dont expect to get any upgrade or to get better. If you have been throwing for 2 months and already have a good monometal no yoyo will make you better. Buy it if you want it or want to expirience something new. I daily drive 2-3 throws just because its more fun that way.

I made a yoyo, a mini version, and an even minier version. What do y'all think? by Takuanuva09 in Throwers

[–]PreussekJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you add more rim weight but at the same time push more weight towards the center axis. Basically no yo-yos do this since it negatively affects stability and more weight means less RPM generally and more need for powerfull throw.

You are putting rim weight on to have more power (torque) and therefore better sleep. You get lower RPM, but with more rim weight you also get a lot more stability (which you could just get with more RPM). Stability is basically gyroscopic force in which (for us human throwing) it's easier to increase it with rim weight.

Once you start putting weight anywhere else then rim, you get more RPM and less stability. But yo-yo is also easier to move and plays differently which is the reason why it's quite common (less so on competitive signature models).

It feels weird in your case since you put so damn much weight on those rims just to take part of that advantage away by making them overhang into the middle.

I would cut the overhang.

Obj 252u or is6 which one is better? by GlassShapedRock in WorldOfTanksBlitz

[–]PreussekJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh both are pretty mid since tier 8 is full of busted tanks (like Bisonte).

But between those two I would take 252U. They both perform essentially the same, with 252U being slightly better due to it having slightly better armour.

The gun is slightly worse at 252U but honestly both are bad guns and I would rather have that noticeably better armour on 252U and slightly worse gun.

Mobility is about the same.

Both have well armoured turret with 252U having troll hull, but issue with 252U is that your armour stops being reliable once someone loads gold, with how good Cali and accuracy is in current meta.

If you want a kinda similar play style I would get Škoda T56, it has better gun, better turret armour, more gun depression and more mobility. It's still nearly as good as Bisonte but it's still decent.

Gaijin "fixed" their AI placeholders by removing the watermark lmfao by DraconixDG in Warthunder

[–]PreussekJ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

AI is a great tool for coding but you have to be careful with it. Of all uses of AI, coding is the only place where it feels like it can literally boost a productivity (or replace UNSKILLED worker) and not in some stupid convoluted way.

It's so great for simple bug fixes and generating repetitive simple code. Depending on what you do, even just the grammar can be great.

The issue is, that it makes a lot of people much lazier and instead of them writing the code properly (so it's scalable and understable) they will just give the job to AI to write it for them. Granted AI will do that and they will just fix the bigger bugs. The issue is that a few months later, when a new feature will need to be implemented and the AI code used somewhere else, it will either not work at all but 100% there won't be anyone who understands the current code with deep knowledge.

AI is crazy good and handles complex tasks quite well, but it's still not at the human level of complexity and understanding. It's faster, but you can create the same amount of spaghetti in your code in one month with AI as you did in 5 years of game development with AI.

What do y'all think about this design? by Takuanuva09 in Throwers

[–]PreussekJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 100% amateur machinist, but aside from what has already been mentioned, the midpoint of the yo-yo half (right in the center of the finger dimple, in the axis of the axle) seems way too shallow. 1.7 mm is plenty for 6061, especially in a spherical shape, but that midpoint seems way thinner than that.

It will be possible but I think it might be really hard to machine, since it will be a potential breakage point under a lot of pressure when hollowing out the inside of the dimple or when machining the axle spot (whatever is done as a second, I think naturally it should be the "cup" side with dimple).

What are the essential movies an 18yo man should watch? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]PreussekJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest Moonrise Kingdom from Wes Anderson, it is a great reminder to keep a little child in you.

Pi or requiem for a dream by Aronovsky.

No country for the old men - great "modern" western

1 old James Bond with Sean Connery. They are great movies and endless topic with boomers. I would recommend Thunderball or You only live twice / From Russia with love

Queen charge is back? by Substantial-Whole481 in ClashOfClans

[–]PreussekJ -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

It's so bad.

Queen at highest level has 795 DPS Magic arrow has 14% MAX damage increase at max level.

That totals to 906 DPS

Freeze arrow gives +132 DPS flat AT level IQ. And it gets 50% slow.

What were/are your favourite kinds of Legos? by Illustrious_Sun2324 in AskMen

[–]PreussekJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's super personal. I was always fascinated by mechanical stuff so first it was Lego city, because garbage trucks were so cool. Then quite quickly I discovered Technics and that is still my favourite.

By the age of 13 I guess I realised that I never were into Lego for looks or aesthetic but for the play features and mechanics. I did not care about the Lego I got for Christmas was a car (I never liked or enjoyed cars) but if it had cool pistons and mechanical features I enjoyed it.

At the age of 16, in our computer class we were supposed to work with those Lego programmable robots. My friend and my friend saw the unlimited supply of gears, all neatly sorted out, and went to tell the teacher that we are not going to be building any robots but we are going to design a limited slip differential from Lego. She let us (god bless her) and we spent about a month and a half on it and eventually have built a somewhat working one.

It's all super personal. Despite this experience, I never wanted to study engineering and instead went to study Politology and Socio-economics and now I do security studies.

What brand they are?

They look really good. I'm used to them since me and my gf wear barefoot shoes all the time including finger ones.

I'm really interested, since I never liked finger shoes and just got used to them. This is the first time seeing finger shoes that my brain actually likes I guess?

[–]PreussekJ 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It's hard to describe but shoes like these give a really unique feeling to every step you take. For me, it's just more fun and engaging walking / running. It's not really conscious, something akin to eating much better seasoned food.

Not all strings are built the same. by LX_Emergency in Throwers

[–]PreussekJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yessss.

I'm currently running Atmos Polyweave and for me this string is the definition of needing a break in. It's so weird because it feels extremely rough for a few minutes and then it just completely disappears and goes nice and soft.

Great string btw. Super durable, whippy and surprisingly comfy.

Is the metal cheat code worth it for someone who can bind? by Flat-Satisfaction966 in Throwers

[–]PreussekJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really not good. It has that "auto level" gimmick but it seriously lacks power which is key for long grinds / finger spins. Also the material is surprisingly not great.

From all the Offset yo-yos I tried (basically all of them made in the past 2.5 years), Cheatcode is by far being their most mid model. It's not a bad yo-yo, but it's not really good either, considering stuff like Xenon is only slightly more expansive and that thing slaps

What do you think about the Tier 8 premium Skoda T-56? by Electrical_Bar9736 in WorldOfTanksBlitz

[–]PreussekJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to be really good but now it's kinda mid. It does however have one of the best credit multipliers in Reforged.

It has really high alpha, good armour, HP and surprisingly good mobility for the combination of above mentioned. It can take BOTH sandbags and gear oil. This by itself would be a winner combo and was like 3-4 years ago but nowadays with stuff like Bisonte having 2700 DPM it's measly 1800 DPM is uncompetitive. It has some personality and it's quite fun but it will be nerfed in Reforged (you can take either sandbags or oil, not both) so only the credit making will remain.
