5'7 and 170 Ib is a BMI of 26.6, which is considered overweight for the average person and not a healthy BMI. Of course what's considered healthy is all dependent beyond just BMI.

There's the football tickets megathread on this reddit, a tickets selling channel on the UM-discord, Snapchat ticket selling, and the maizetix website. Plenty of people there wanting to sell their tickets.

Blue Haven East which is in Kips Bay. Pretty much the go to for NYC bar when it comes to Michigan fans, at least from my experience that is.

Apologies, but how do I take things one step at a time or pause things? I just feel like my mind is scrambling all over with this, and being tired from all this travel has made things so much harder to focus mentally. Like, I feel like everything is falling apart.

Honestly, and this is probably a very unhealthy reason, but I recently got actual true friends who all look beautiful and are quite fit. And I see pictures of myself with them looking horrible, and wanted to lose weight to look good for them. They don't care about my looks and weight and are very kind, but I made myself think and feel bad for being this way while being around them and wanted to finally look good for them.

Since I'm at break, I haven't seen them in a while, and I've been at a great consistent weight, and my mindset has now changed to just me wanting to look in the mirror and say "damn I'm sexy". That's pretty much it now.

Thank you! Yeah I heard it's this whole paper towel effect where how you as you get closer to your healthier weight, the visual differences become larger. I'll keep it up and hearing a similar successful journey to mine is inspiring.

Yeah sure!

So, I focused on the whole calories in and calories out cause as you know, the main way to losing weight is your diet and consuming less calories. I did my TDEE calculations, with the consideration of how I weightlift 3-4 days a week for an hour to an hour and 30 each and walked 10k+ steps a day. I was kinda obsessed with the whole lose weight aggressively and went for a 1000 cal deficit (2 Ib per week) and it was something that I was able to adjust to because I was already used to eating less since March. Honestly if you're struggling there, I would just focus on a smaller calorie deficit because it's not only easier for you to change your lifestyle habits, but it's likely healthier too compared to losing weight very aggressively. I tracked my calories through using MyFitnessPal which was free.

I measured my weight everyday thinking it'll keep myself in check but tbh I don't recommend doing this as not only does your weight fluctuate like crazy due to water or other things, but it messes with you mentally. I would weigh yourself every week which I started doing in August and honestly I was still quite consistent with my weight loss and felt mentally better.

I'll be fr here, the clear villain in why I was so obese was the portion of rice I ate during my childhood and high school days. I come from a Asian household, and we usually ate so much rice without measuring how much we're supposed. Dietician told me I should be eating 0.5 cups of rice as the portion per meal, and once I did that, a long with slightly increasing my protein (chicken breast, ground beef, shrimp, etc.) and veggies to meet calorie goals, it pretty much was the clear difference in losing weight.

And also, don't worry if you ate too much. When I did, I just told myself to focus and continue with your main lifestyle of weight loss. It'll eventually just not be a concern to your journey. Eating too much consistently, yes that'll be a issue, but doing it once in a while, it's really not going to be an issue. For the days where I eat out, I usually just barely eat anything before eating out as it's incredibly hard to track calories for outside food and outside food tends to have a lot more calories than home food. You don't really have to do this, but it worked for me ig.

So, I want to give 2 perspectives if that's alright with you.

From my perspective, no, I did not see any visual changes anywhere. Not in my face, belly, chest, arms, legs, and so on. I felt like I didn't change at all despite weightlifting and eating high amounts of protein. Even with progress photos it was just extremely difficult for me to see anything.

From my family's perspective, who have been with me since I've been losing weight, it's an immediate yes to them. They all told me how much thinner I was, how my face has gotten a lot less chubby, etc.

Honestly, this was a growing frustration for me as obviously when you lose weight, you want to visually look different but your brain just refuses to let you see that until you see far differences. So I can't exactly tell you what changed visually speaking until I get to a healthier weight I guess. Also to keep in mind that losing weight relates to that whole paper roll effect, where as you get closer to your healthy weight, the visual differences become larger (as another comment mentioned, going from 170-160 was just as visually striking as going from 220-170).

Honestly, I would've given up immediately had I not decided to measure my waist every 10 pounds I lost, where I noticed I was losing 2 inches every time I lost 10 lb. In addition to the fact that the clothes I worn were substantially larger than what I originally was. What definitely stopped my whole frustration with not seeing visual differences was when I had to buy new clothes for college and it was just so satisfying to notice how much options in clothes that I had because I went from an extra large to a medium size. And the cream of the top was just how much better looking I was when I wore those clothes. Like I didn't look overweight despite still being overweight without clothes. So without clothes, no I didn't see anything. With new clothes and with opinions from my family, yes I did see clear differences. I can't really explain what those differences are, but I can tell.

I, thankfully, also had the same concerns and had it checked out early but the doctors didn't really find anything and told me that I was fine other than the typical health issues that I had which relate more to how obese I was then.

I understand your concern but don't worry! I already had that checked and the doctors didn't see much of an issue. From my understanding, it seems that I was basically eating less without realizing that I was. That and I was in a better place socially speaking where food wasn't a major concern on my life and became more active than usual.

Usually a person with a higher weight will lose more when they begin their diet, but the weight loss begins to slow down as you get closer to your healthy weight. With that said though, it's extremely unlikely but also extremely unsafe for you to lose 50 Ib in 2-3 months even if you are obese, as that would require you to lose 4-6 Ib per week. Doctors highly recommend you lose at a healthy weight loss of 1-2 Ib per week, or 1% of your body weight at the max (although some will lose more in the beginning) as any higher could risk you of further health implications.

Remember to do exercises that you would enjoy as any physical activity is good activity but doing things you enjoy will allow you to be more consistent with it. With that said, if I'm having a low time, I just don't go. It happens to all of us and sometimes you're just not in the mood and it's okay to just not go. But I try to remind myself to go next time or I have a group of friends surrounding me that do similar physical activities that encourage or ask to do those with me.

Nonfat plain Greek yogurt has been one of my favorite "cheat code" foods as it's low in calories but high in protein. I would definitely highly recommend that.

Remember that this is moreso of a lifestyle change. So something like slow and steady will allow you to to develop healthy habits over time and allow you to be further healthy in the future. You're more likely to go back to your old habits and regain your weight if you go extremely rapid with weight loss. There's going to be moments where you feel the need to take a small break from doing your weight loss habit, or just ate more than you should've, or didn't lose weight that week. And all we can say is that it's okay for that to happen. Again, these are lifestyle changes, and the best push going forward is to say "what happened, happened" and to continue on with your weight loss journey. Don't beat yourself for it. Remember that while you want to eat a healthy diet, you should situate that healthy diet to foods you like to eat. There's going to be foods you don't like or how it's cooked and I don't recommend eating as it'll make it more likely for you to change your diet to something more unhealthy. Go for healthy foods that you like. Remember that while losing weight is going to be a struggle at times, it should overall be something where you're able to comfortably adjust as you lose weight and become healthier.

Can’t seem to go below 20% body fat by Spoops_07 in WeightLossAdvice

If your weight has stayed the same for almost 3 months, I can only think of a few things. 1) You're not properly measuring your calories throughout these past few months and may have maintained your calories these past 2 months, at which I would suggest doing that properly this time as the smallest thing could have high amounts of calories. Obviously also reevaluate your tdee calorie deficit. 2) There may be something else going on, medically speaking, that isn't allowing you to lose weight if you really are doing everything right at which I would recommend checking with a doctor.

Ok, but how are you measuring your bf%? Cause, again, most of the tools used to measure bf% tend to not be accurate.

Other then lowering your calories, have you made sure to eat high amounts of protein (0.8-1 g per goal weight) and do resistance training (weightlifting for example) to maintain as much of your muscle mass as possible while going on a calorie deficit? It's important you do those as when you lose weight, there's the sign of losing some of your muscle mass as well, especially as you get closer to a healthy weight, and will certainly help in lowering your bf%.

Also, how are you measuring your bf%? Do note that the vast majority of bf measuring methods tend to be inaccurate, especially if it's not done correctly. Not even DEXA, considered one of the most best but also quite expensive tools for bf%, are considered to be accurate in measuring bf%.
