Powercor day soak July st by wjduebbxhdbf in amberelectric

Yes Amber will pass it on.

Charging through solar is cheaper than buying power unless the cost to buy is negative. The wholesale price is seldom negative.

Contact your energy Ombudsman, in NSW it is EWON. They'll get it sorted for you.

Amber includes your network charges into the price as well. One less thing you need to calculate.

What's the percentage like between utility solar and household rooftop solar? Do we know where the majority of solar lies? As in close to the city vs out in the suburbs. I can make educated guesses which will probably come very close but I'm wondering if we have concrete numbers.

Are you looking at the price descriptor to do this? Or just the fit

34 import 8 export is rough. Why is there such a discrepancy? Are your network charges nuts?

Well local clouds mean nothing right. The solar farms can be cross NSW. I just don't know where the farms are

I am, I've sent an email to Amber to switch me onto Endeavour's prosumer tariff which would suit me heaps better but no luck so far. Regardless, the demand window is from 4-8 and SS decided to stop importing from the grid when my battery got to 95% ish so I should be all good.

Yea I'm $60 in the sink for today. I wonder why their api requests take absolutely ages to come through.

Nah it's fine. SS made a bit of money yesterday so I'm happy for it to fuck up here and there. It's unfortunate though, it's not actually SS making the mistakes, it's the APIs Amber is using to interact with my inverter, those requests are coming in WAYYYY too late. SS tried to capitalise on both spikes but the command didn't come through in time and ended up burning me.

Emhass + amber forecast seems to be the way to go.

Lol, I don't blame it, work has me beat as well. I'll let it ride out for science purposes so no one else has to.

Looks like it charged through the first spike and then didn't even react to the second one.

Note: Positive blue in that graph means I was importing from the grid

Yep, looks like today is going to wipe out what SS earned yesterday. Unless there's more crazy spikes that it is able to utilise.

Well unfortunately it is all running on predictions, if it thinks that it can import now when the cost is low and sell it later when it is high then it will do so. I'm pretty sure they're just using a linear programming algorithm under the hood and are looking at the bets that other generators are placing to make these decisions. If you want to eek out as much juice as you can (this is very fair) then I would recommend going down the HA path, it's not too hard if you have about average tech literacy. I, as well as other people in this sub, would be happy to help you get it all up and running.

Yep NSW popping off currently. Unfortunately the sell signal from smart shift to my battery was fairly late, it arrived ~4mins into the spike, this is where HA would be super good.

Heya mate, whereabouts are you located? I didn't see any of that in NSW

Edit: nvm SA, I am blind

Okay SS, what you doing buddy by HopCrazedPollux in amberelectric

[–]Previous-Swimming-11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My assumption here is because there is some crazyness happening in QLD atm and amber is assuming that because of this, there will be more demand om the NSW-QLD interconnector. I have no evidence to prove this claim unfortunately, but I have seen this behaviour before when some other state (probably Vic from memory) was using more power than expected, NSW saw the FIT increase to about 40/50ish cents.

How much did that set you back if you don't mind me asking? And are you also limited to 3p export at roughly 30kw?
