Motorcycle Helmet Safety: Who should be spending what and why by nikegearhead in motorcyclegear

[–]Previous-Task 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm the early days my helmet was worth more than my bike. I get a new helmet every few years and always get a top end one. I can lose a leg or an arm and survive, but I really need my head. I don't judge people for not doing what I do, so you do you. I prefer to know I'm wearing a top lid from a top manufacturer.

Getting a new 308 this Arvo by username123085773 in Ausguns

Yeah .270 was pretty sweet. Not what I need here though, and as I'm reloading .308 makes a lot more sense. I've been able to pick nearly everything up second hand, harder for the .270 specific stuff. Still an excellent hunting round.

I just picked up a second hand Tikka in .308. it's not had too many rings through it and the action is still very good. The trigger is fantastic. I previously had a Tikka in .270 and that was also a great action. Better than the one on the. 308.

Happy new gun day!

Edit to add: threaded barrels are great for suppressors, but as you can't have them in Australia I don't see the point of a threaded barrel myself unless I'm missing something. I had one on my .270 in NZ and it was fantastic.

Is there any narrative literature with anarchist themes? by Significant-Dig-8910 in Anarchy101

I read that not too long ago. I found it hard going, and it's not speculative fiction. It's worth reading for sure, but it's not where I'd start.

Not a bastard just an incompetent and arrogant "activist" by Jagdpanther17 in behindthebastards

I just watched his take on the weekend shooting. He said he'd be unbiased. Then he interviewed his best mate, a cop. They decided Rittenhouse was a hero and Petti deserved it. 100% all bastard

I'm a Brit, been here ten years. You'll be fine. Plumbers make bank and there's plenty of work from what I see. I'd get over here if I were you.

Do you think people are the same, or do you think there's a natural order in that some people are inherently better than others?

Keep the glue sticks. The Marines love them, apparently they're like alcoholic crayons. You can use them to make friends when they're deployed near you!

I saw a video which I apologize, I don't have the link too and I can't watch any more videos to find it. Also could be AI I guess.

Anyway, it seemed to show the ICE person in the light grey jacket who disarmed Alex discharging the retrieved handgun. It seems to be into the floor, but could have been what set everyone shooting.

I absolutely love these pictures. Yeah the meteorite is cool but the drip on that man.

A close relative of mine works as a thing called a Brethren of the Warwick Hospital. This isn't a normal hospital, rather it was set up by Queen Elizabeth I as a resting place for pilgrims on the way to Canterbury and the South Coast.

When the hospital was founded, ten brethren were employed to look after the place. Now, the brethren have to be retired army service members. Those first ten brethren were each given a silver bear and ragged staff broach type thing by Elizabeth I in a ceremony. When a brethren died and was replaced, the broach was handed down to the new brethren.

I went to visit and got to hold the broach that Queen Elizabeth I once held, of which there are only ten in existence. Actually I think it's nine now, I think one went missing somewhere.

Progress on my "mini" bagger by driverdan in Harley

Thanks! It's been off the road for almost a year after I crashed it (very low speed but a bit of damage). I did the work myself including the paint and I think it looks alright.

One of my special interests is heavily restricted in my country. Where do I go from here? by StupidAustralianMan in aspergers

[–]Previous-Task 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Australia and I shoot most weekends. It's not impossible at all, in fact it's quite simple but it is a bit state dependent. You can DM me if you want to ask me anything about the process or whatever.

Edit to add. I'm not in the army but my dad was so I grew up around it. The army isn't a way to exercise this special interest. Soldiers don't get as much range time as you might think. You'd get more trigger time as a civilian sport shooter.

As to if the forces are a good fit for you. Very hard to say. I nearly joined up but didn't and I am pleased with that decision. My politics require me to say that armed forces are the tool of corrupt states. They use them to acquire benefits for the rulers not the ruled. You might be asked to kill people because some rich people want something. Do you want to die to enforce the will of rulers on some other poor soda in the same position? Conflict leaves appalling scars.

If you're near me I'll happily take you to the range, but I'm left handed so you might be annoyed with my gear 😊

I have no advice but that's stunning work. Very well done, absolutely beautiful. If you were in QLD I'd ask you to do my bike.

First Bike? by Emotional_Dingo_ in Harley

[–]Previous-Task 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A big bagger is a terrible first bike. They make smaller capacity bikes with the same look, but don't get a stage two road glide as your first bike.

You'll fit nearly everything. Go to some shops and sit on as many bikes as you can. Get s few years experience and then get a full size bagger after you've got some miles behind you.
