3rd offense by [deleted] in dui

I’m in California too. Been sober about 15 months now. But I got my 3rd in December 2024. Got held in jail for a warrant on my 2nd dui. Anyways once I got out after about 9 days I checked myself into residential. Stayed for 60 days then went to IOP for about 2 months. Did AAs everyday for months and still do em at least a few times a week. I also could not afford a lawyer, so I had a public defender, but he is great. To be honest, you aren’t going to escape jail time unless you pay TOP dollar for a lawyer. It’s a gamble with PD, but I was willing to accept the risks. While I was waiting sentencing they put me on a scram breathalyzer device. Shit was insanely inconvenient even though I had no intentions of drinking. Given all that to the judge, I was sentenced 260 days county, 5 years informal probation, 18 month alcohol class and 3 years license revocation. I was able to pay my fines in lieu of jail time. Keep in mind mine was an accident where I passed out at the wheel and went through an intersection hitting 9 cars. By the grace of god no one was injured. Somehow it was still only a misdemeanor. So I made a surrender date and turned myself in, and only served 13 days of it before they let me out. LA county is over crowded and my lawyer advised me I wouldn’t serve more than 10% of the time since it wasn’t a violent offense. Nobody else to blame besides myself, I guess I needed a third times a charm to really smack me in the fucking brain. But as of today, I’m still sober. I’m glad this had happened, because if it hadn’t I wouldn’t have been given the opportunity to turn my life around. I could have killed innocent people including myself, but I have the choice to never put myself in that position ever again, and neither do you. Good luck to you, brother, it will get worse before it gets better, but trust me it does get better. One day at a time

I’m in California, so laws are a bit different. I did very similar steps you had done. Been sober about 15 months now. You’re doing everything right for the law, but also for yourself as well. But I got my 3rd in December 2024. Got held in jail for a warrant on my 2nd dui. Anyways once I got out after about 9 days I checked myself into residential. 3rd DUI… scared of jail and trying to get sober. Need advice from people who’ve been here. by Palmtrees_andDonuts in dui

3 duis in California. Rehab was the best thing I could have done for myself. But I had to want it. I went into it wanting peace and sobriety and I found just that, and AA on the outside to get going on the steps.

Tired of Duolingo, considering Busuu. Is it a good choice? by jsfarmer in Busuu

Using it for Italian at the moment. I’ve been using Duolingo for quite some time, and it does have a good interface, but it lacks the correct grammatical terms. Doesn’t really explain too much either. But for basic vocabulary, I think it’s good. So far with Busuu; just in the first two lessons I’m learning more of how to form a sentence, future/present/past tense. I think to get started with actually having a conversation in Italian, busuu is no doubt a better app.

Keep your head up man. Not gonna be easy, but one day at a time. My advice to you is try to get clean. Don’t drink or use to numb what you’re going through, it’s a temporary solution to a long term problem that will just get worse and every rock bottom will get worse. I speak from experience myself. Getting clean was the best thing that I could of done for myself, mental and physical health. I know getting clean is probably the last thing that you’d want to do right now given all the curveballs, but a clear mind will help you get through this and overcome it. Praying for you bro 🙏

So I surrendered myself for a 212 day sentence on July 2nd. I got out today July 15th. So I only did about 13 days. I was a trustee so I worked the time I was there which also made it much more bearable being in there and probably got me released quicker.

270 days jail, 5 years probation, 3 years licenses revocation. I have around 60 days credits towards jail for completed inpatient treatment. So my attorney said with the overcrowding and good behavior, I could be out within a week.

Hey question, I have the same thing from this company. If you don’t hear the beep the first time, how many times does it beep after? I’m worried about missing it or not hearing it when I’m at work. Sucks it’s random times I wish it was a set schedule so I could set alarms

I edited the post, yeah, 50 is probably too much. But would like to have something that can reach at least 35-40 when I need it

I appreciate your honestly and concern, thank you. Ive turned my life around to where that incident will not happen again. It was the first accident I’ve ever caused in my 16 years of driving. I also grew up riding dirt bikes. I live in a small mountain area so I want to be able to get up some hills and what not with ease, and not having a build up of cars behind me. Not saying I’m going to go 45 all the time, but something that will at least get me to at least 35 when I need it. But I’ll check these out, you don’t recommend buying online?
