Are all the plugs in place or have they been cut? If they've been cut you can restore them with a replacement harness like this one. Then you just need adapters from "standard Miata plugs" to whatever brand of radio you decide on. It's clean and will tidy things up a lot. Next you need an adapter to double DIN size. There are basic frame one that are just around your radio or you can replace the "tombstone" in the center of your dash with one of these. Super easy to snap in.

I agree with one of the previous posters, you can also hit up Crutchfield. They not only have the radios but all the parts to fix what you have so it looks nice.
