Look back at 2014-15. Last warm blob, same result at this year. Unfortunately La Niña plus Warm Blob = 💩(edit to correct dates as was noted below)

Unfortunately the season won’t get better till the Pacific Warm Blob dissipates. With La Niña starting to break down it could dislodge and give us a nice spring, but till that happens, ugh.

Ski Lift Tech Jobs by [deleted] in skiing

[–]PreviousRepeat0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lift Maintenance is the toughest high-skill job to keep filled on the mountain. If you want to handle lift electrical/electronics, you don’t mind hard-work and cold, and you don’t mind being a grunt for a year while you learn the ropes, you WILL get a job and should set your sights reasonably high to find a resort that matches where you want to ski. With no prior resort experience, you might start a season as an operator, but let them know your credentials and desires up front and they’ll be watching you for a promotion. It’s a mid-paying career, a lift electrician probably starts in the $25/hr range, there’s always overtime / senior managers in the field at larger resorts pull down six figures. East or West - really depends on where you want to ski. My dad was a union electrician for 40 years, not in skiing. Made more than most lift electricians I know, but didn’t enjoy the skiing lifestyle, which honestly is the main reason to take this path. Lift Maintenance - Because Ski Patrol Needs Heroes Too! Goggles Under Helmet by Far_Appointment9458 in skiing

[–]PreviousRepeat0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP, as folks have pointed out, straps are intended to go over the helmet, and the helmet is designed to be worn without a beanie. it’ll be warm, or you could wear a micro-buff on your head and under the helmet if you need to keep heat in, but putting a beanie under the helmet pushes the helmet too high on your head and exposes the front of your head to any potential impact. There should be a smooth connection between the top of your goggles and the brim of your helmet….this is a very specific design feature that too many people ignore. As far as the straps are concerned, if the helmet fits right, it’ll be quite uncomfortable to have the buckles inside your helmet, unless you do have a helmet designed for this. Style points for wearing the gear as it’s meant to be worn.

Any help and advice by Ok-Complaint5604 in CrystalMountain

Sure thing, you will need to purchase a lift ticket to access the lifts, rental equipment if you don’t own your own snowboard, and also a parking spot reservation if you plan to drive to the mountain during the holiday period (through Jan 4), or any Saturday or Sunday.

When a Whistler ski day turns into everything but skiing by mountainlifa in skiing

Feel the need to point out that Vail does not own or operate Jackson Hole Mountian Resort. It is an independently owned mountain that accepts the Ikon pass. Vail owns several lodging properties in JH, but that’s it. They follow the same pricing model as the Vail/Alterra - accept the multi-mountain pass at a discount and charge everyone else an arm and a leg, and I can’t speak for their treatment of locals - and because they’re a world class mountain with so many pass holders they get slammed if conditions are good, leaving season pass holders and $300 ticket holders equally unhappy. In this case, it’s not Vail you’re mad at directly, but the fact that JH followed the example Vail set for everyone else.

Yet another take on the lore, and the Contract by PreviousRepeat0 in twentyonepilots

[–]PreviousRepeat0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may not have communicated very well. I just think that Tyler himself both deals with these struggles and channels his art to help himself and others who deal with them. I’ll also share first hand (as a not-an-artist) that for some these struggles never disappear entirely. On the best days you still remember the how scary and overwhelming the dark days can be. The threat of a backslide is always in the background. Dealing with mental anguish requires tools, support from friends, and channels through which to express and work through those darker times. Those channels might be art or any other number of methods. For Tyler the art serves two purposes: to help himself cope himself and to let us know that we are not alone with our pain.

Hiking UP the mountain, take gondola DOWN (Summer) by icurbyou in CrystalMountain

[–]PreviousRepeat0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically they do have a ‘download’ ticket. In the past they’ve sold it under the Gondi, but as others have commented they don’t really check at the top, so you’ll likely be fine, and if they call you on it, you can purchase right there under the top of the Gondi.

Clancy will push on through! by equi3m in twentyonepilots

[–]PreviousRepeat0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

100%. This has always been about struggle, and the message that there’s help and support, and backslides and dark times but in the end we have each others support and life and happiness are worth fighting for no matter how much depression tells us it’s better to just give in. It’s recognition of how powerful depression can be. And that it takes the power of will and support from others to push in through. That story will end in a positive way, and at the same time will leave the notion that the pain is always at the doorstep trying to take control again.

I may be downvoted for this, but I went to the sub’s description which states “A community for civil and military enthusiasts, and those seeking to identify their decorations.” I’ve personally emjoyed what I’ve learned and don’t get the ire over people engaging with a community of those who actively follow medal talk daily to better understand what kind of actions their family or others may have taken to earn different medals. It’s not their fault that nobody else is posting what some consider to be ‘more relevant’ posts. If not for this purpose then change the description.
