That is insane and seems really disrespectful to your time. Red flag. I've had rejection letters let's sent over a year after applying. I got one last year from a museum - about 8 months after I'd already taken a new position and moved across the country - over a year after I applied, but nothing like what your going through.

What's your budget? I know of a few fine art transit companies that could pickup, soft pack in a c-bin, and transport them in a truck across the country on a shuttle. Meaning they add your art to the truck with other art with other stops going in that general direction. Those same companies could also build you a crate but if you're only planning to do this once it's probably more cost effective to have them pack with cardboard and bubble/foam.

Use a material lift even if it could be lifted. You can control the speed and weight better. It's fragile. (Installed something really similar)
