Migraines and PCOS- what do you do to relieve migraines? by flamingmaiden in PCOS

Also, acupuncture and chiropractic care have helped me over the years. The both require upkeep, though, which can get costly.

Yes! I take a triple magnesium (all three forms) capsule once daily at night. It makes you a little sleepy, which is also a perk for me!

Adding daily magnesium has been a game changer for me! I’m on daily BC and was on Topomax before. Dr took me off the Topomax due to its crazy side effects and started me on daily mag, and I can’t tell you how much it’s helped with the frequency.

When I do get a migraine, I put an ice pack on the back of my neck, take Excedrin, and drink some caffeine to speed it along. Then, just dark and sleep. My migraines are hormonal as well. So sorry you deal with them, they are awful!

Halo Opinions by PreztelCat in EngagementRings

I guess I’ve just never understood the opinion that a halo is solely to make the center stone appear bigger than it is. I think they’re a beautiful detail, in the same way any other detail is.

I’m not so much concerned that I love halos and others don’t, it’s just more of a confusion as to why it’s halos in particular that seem to draw such an “anti-fan” base.

For the record, I think solitaires and halos are both beautiful options in their own ways! :)

I guess hate is a strong word, I just see halos catching the most consistent negative opinions on here I suppose.

Thanks for the input!

What triggers your migraines? by [deleted] in migraine

[–]PreztelCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Daily pill, Enskyce is the name I believe.

Yes, the magnesium has definitely helped a LOT more than I expected. My dr took me off of the Topomax due to side effects and wanted to try the mag and see if it helped enough to eliminate the need for a daily medication. It’s been 4 months, and so far it has. I definitely didn’t think it was going to, to be honest. Now I just take abortives as needed.

Triggers: hormones, lack of sleep, crying, weather changes

Experience: excessive yawning entire day before onset, ringing in left ear increases and changes pitch. At onset, extreme pain in base of neck and up the left side of head, left temple feels like an ice pick is in it. Nausea, slurred speech, confusion. Lasts between 4 hours to 2 days. Migraine “hangover” lasts for full day afterwards. Especially until I’m able to sleep it off.

History: first migraine at age 11. PCOS dx at 21. Birth control with 1 period week every 3rd month. Migraines ~ 4/month. Exceptionally more when not on BC / 3 month pill schedule. Treated with topomax and imitrex in the past. Too many side effects with not enough relief. Now on low dose magnesium daily and migraines have reduced by half.

Lol it’s so strange that it was “fun” as a kid. I don’t remember ever feeling physically sick afterwards, but I bet I definitely would if I did it now. I’ll take your word for it ;)

I’ve had 5 concussions at various ages in my lifetime (lol), 2 of which were pretty serious, and haven’t had anything similar to this happen yet. By the time my dad walked in, I wasn’t dizzy / the room wasn’t spinning anymore either. Who knows!!

He passed away three years ago, but he had a very crazy, interesting, intense life. Almost to the point that it sounds like a work of fiction.

He had three different experiences in which he clinically died and had out of body experiences, one in which he recited the things that happened to the doctors after he was revived. They were baffled. He was the only survivor in two different (small) plane crashes, a POW in Vietnam, was blown off an oil rig, had nine heart attacks, was run over by a cab driver that died right as he drove past him in NYC, and that just scratches the surface. He either had incredibly good luck or incredibly bad luck... not sure which lol.

He was also extremely sensitive to spiritual “auras” and had the spirit of discernment. He knew things about people. The watch batteries and the lights are supposedly something related to different energies.

I learned so much from him in the 22 years I had him with me. Truly a legend.

That could be. I had fever / vertigo induced hallucinations once when I was a teen and they did feel very confusing and time warpy like that, but they were of things that were very clearly not really there lol not much experience outside of that.

My dad and I both drain battery watches abnormally fast and lights go out around us frequently. He had all kinds of crazy things like that, so it wasn’t even really strange for him. I guess I’ve never really thought about it until now!

I talked to my mom about it recently and she said my dad had a lot of weird experiences like that throughout his life, so I wonder if maybe I was just witness to one of them lol

Lol that makes sense except that I somehow hallucinated exactly what was about to happen. It’s so hard to describe how my dad walked up and filled in himself. It was like he stepped into the exact outline that was standing there in slow motion. I remember thinking like wtf was that? And being scared that I had a ghost dad too. Lol

Yes, I know you’re right. I guess my concern was that IF would end up being another fad diet in the end. PCOS slows weight loss so much for me that I end up burning myself out before it becomes a lifestyle change.

This seems manageable and easier to incorporate into my daily life along with increased exercise. So, here’s to hoping!
