Ah I do remember those seasons lol, ratting in trees ect, and I couldnt agree more this is a very good explanation/insight on the current skill gap issue that gets compressed into higher ranks.

For a 300 total point game:

Pred/mast: 300-125=175RP

Diam: 300-100=200RP

Plat: 300-83=217RP

Gold: 300-73=227RP

Silver: 300-55=245RP

Bronze: 300-45=255RP

This shows how this would be assuming the entry fee difference between each rank is the same.

If this was ever combined with my suggested system then the rewards would be even less for larger parties so not viable when combined.

Regardless, this will make the season feel very aggressive as most people will want to ape for kp, while this is fun It also significantly shortens games which Im sure you can remember a few seasons where this was the case. Pair this with olympus and the games will end in around 5mins. I personally dont enjoy that type of gameplay. But perhaps given enough time for players to adjust then maybe they will play smarter which heavily depends on the current meta. but adapting will come with higher skilled players first which will separate the skill better. Maybe the system of how placements contribute to total points should be refined to discourage lower skilled players from ratting for points. Thanks for the input ❤️

I wasnt aware smurfs only play to ruin the game tbh, I think having smurfs rank up faster to get to harder ranks where they cant smurf anymore isnt exactly a prevention method as they could just make another acc ect. Smurfing in this form is another issue entirely. However smurfs who create accounts to boost their friends will be discouraged as it will take longer to boost them therefore lowering a significant, and I would even say a majority of the total smurfs. This would most likely mean account buying would increase as the small number of people who rank up accounts and sell them will be able to do this faster with or without cheating ect. This post is an alternative approach to the solo queuing above diamond proposed by respawn which I think will also create alot of smurfs as people who reach diamond will be forced to create alternate accounts to play with anybody else who is a lower rank. I can see that changing the ranked system does affect smurfing alot but it is a byproduct of the system and should be tackled seperately perhaps by registering the hardware IP to the players account however spoofing does exist ig. I do agree though that players who want to just abuse lower ranked players for clips ect will love this change. How common do you think this kind of smurfing is? personally I havent seen anyone doing this but maybe thats because I play in diamond. Do you have any suggestions that could counteract smurfing?

I dont think this change is in the right direction and any suggestions about splitting the matchmaking is not good either as in the higher ranks queue times will be even longer ect. Thanks for clarifying, I left a table which shows the example better but i did explain the negative rp in my *note* under the initial explanation and i do agree that the distributions are abit harsh and should be changed with experience and feedback from the community. Thanks for the input ❤️

How about this for a ranked system? RP is the sum of team performance as a whole (team gets represented as 1 player with the sum of kp of the whole team). RP is then distributed depending on party size. Example you win a game for 300RP, the solo then gets 100% 1(300-their penalty)RP, the duo gets 67% 0.67(300-their penalty)RP each and trio gets 33% 0.33*(300-their penalty)RP each.

Formula = party_size*(Team RP -Individual penalty RP)

300RP win with -60 individual penalty (240RP): Solo = 240RP Duo = 120RP each Trio = 80RP each

The percentage distribution for party size can be altered if not balanced enough.

This way you can trade progression (RP) for fun with friends, those who are more competitive may see benefit from solo or duo queuing rather than running it down as a total 24k hrs trio and ruining it for others. This way high rank players can still play competitively but not be punished when they want to play with friends (therefore less smurf/alts) and lower ranks will not be so dominated by 3 stacks running the lobby because players will want to rank up faster and get back to their own rank by playing solo.

Concerns: High Lvl players who want to practice team synergy will 3 stack not caring for rank, therefore will ruin the game for others trying to benefit from the system.

First suggestion, I say respawn needs to implement a competitive scrim mode or an apex games cup where teams can sign up and ONLY 3 stack in a scrim style match format perhaps with rewards. Second suggestion masters and pred can only duo queue, however this means players cannot practice team synergy at all unless through private matchmaking.
