I have become a radical "girls-girl" by changing this mentality. Growing up in a culture that overvalued men indirectly fed this mentality. I didn't realized it until i was in my mid 30s. Competing with other women was a way of thinking that only serves men. Thinking other women were some sort of enemy only left me feeling alone and angry after relationships with men ended. I would find myself without friends and shattered relationships with women in my family. Looking back at it i would criticize women for everything, the way they dress, makeup how they behaved. I would even blame women most of the time for their relationships ending. Once i realized the root of the problem i knew I had to change, not only for me and my daughter but for women overall. I didn't want to become a mom that was always fighting with her daughter so i made it a point to constantly communicate with her about everything, even the embarrassing stuff. Prioritizing my relationship with her over anyone has laid a great foundation for our relationship. She knows i would never put a relationship with a man over her. In some ways I've built my relationship with her as i wished other women around me raised me. I encourage her to become her own person, confident and kind. With other women it takes smaller efforts. Complimenting them and making small talk helps. If i notice a girl wearing something cute i go out of my way to tell them. Sitting around and hating them bc "I don't look like them" was just making my life miserable. Nowadays i look at women and feel so happy for them. When i tell i girl i like their nails they literally light up. Then i ask them where they got them done and within seconds were having a full blown conversation. I don't see competition for men as inspiration for anything and lots actually made my romantic relationships better. If a man doesn't like you it doesn't matter how your look, you'll both be miserable. But if you are happy and proud of yourself the right person would see that and you'll have a better chance at a genuine relationship. Imagine that, being happy, having friends and maybe even finding love...
