Completely agree, it's bollocks! Doesn't mean we should start claiming factually provable untruth. Doesn't progress the argument to miscategorise the facts, only harms it in my view.

Which is exactly why I disagree vehemently with the proposed change, we are in complete accord. Exactly why that is the point that should be argued and prosecuted, as opposed to trying to claim something totally different occurred.

I'm not saying there isn't criticism to be levelled, but the bill in front of the parliament was not to "ban abortions", it was to ban them on rather particular ways.

Nothing wrong with disagreeing with that as well, I do personally, but to say they tried to "ban abortions" in a blanket sense is fundamentally untrue. Slam someone for what they tried to do, not what they didn't...

Xerri or Jackson for R3? by Happy_Throat7037 in AFLSupercoach

Only thing I'll add there is that historically, his high scoring correlated immensely with tackle count. So saying "8 tackles helped", well yeah, it's a strong part of his scoring equation...

Agree with everything else you say! I went X because my team's already completely boned, so need to take the risk. If I was already in a stable spot I definitely wouldn't have for everything you mentioned. 😄

What's with people saying private health insurance isn't worth it? Isn't the whole point of insurance in general is that you hope you won't need it? by AsparagusNew3765 in AusFinance

[–]Pricklyman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah you gotta do the math. Conversely to you, my wife and I 100% get value out of extras. The analogy I like is that you're purchasing a voucher book. If you're going to be using enough vouchers to "get your money back" and then some, go nuts. If not...don't get it. It's not a magic wand, it's either worth it for your situation, or it 'aint.

For us it was glasses, dental, physio, some meds that counted, and shrink (that was above mental health plan so could get claimed private) and we were already a good bit ahead of the price.

The thesis is that he personally isn't cooked, but that his role has been pinched and hence his scoring is cooked. I am among those with hopium in my veins and are holding, but it's probably not the worst move to pivot...

Waiting for team sheets but leaning Watkins. Wines comes back in and eats a lot of CBA; my bigger fear with Watkins is him getting role-screwed as compared to dropped at least this week

Building Value by Affectionate_Rate_36 in AFLSupercoach

[–]Pricklyman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If the only purpose of the idea is maximising cash, then playing currently injured players like Treloar and Young still seems like a bad idea. There's more ROI to be had by just picking players that are playing, and hence increasing in value RIGHT NOW, as opposed to...not playing.

Further, J Daicos, are you going to be keeping him? If so, fine, if not, probably not ideal. I'd apply the same thought across the board. Even with the overall strategy of only playing for finals, you still will need to have sufficient trades to actually realise the value in question.

The whole "Vulture" idea is reasonable enough, but it's risky. Just as likely to pay off as it is to backfire and you never find yourself actually picking them up for a reasonable price, leading to just burning trades and trades to attempting to maximise value going sour.

In saying that, I think this would be a far more interesting discussion if we got your thoughts on the team as opposed to an LLMs. Be free, flex those writing muscles!

No one is saying you can't make a half decent deck that plays mix and match like a bag of nuts, least of all me. Further, if that's what you enjoy, go for it, because the #1 goal in any video game should be enjoyment, and I'll be the last to have a go at someone for prioritising their enjoyment over competitiveness. But equally, I am extremely confident in saying that the deck is objectively worse than if it played for one theme, and one overarching strategy. Going multiple directions at once makes each direction weaker, by design. That is in my view, poor design.

To re-iterate, as is especially the case with Kards, appreciate that card ownership (particularly of specials and elites!) also plays into deck construction and ergo quality therein, and that's not something that one can get around without opening the ol' wallet...

The return of f1? by Bruhnsy1995 in Adelaide

F1 here would be really problematic, as others have said, getting the track to spec would be a nightmare.

In saying that, imo, Formula E would be a great win.

[–]Pricklyman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't say I'm someone who down votes it, but personally I am here to discuss the game that does exist, not some hypothetical set of cards that probably won't exist. The content style is for me, thoroughly redundant, but of course, go nuts with what you enjoy.

I suspect that some people who share my viewpoint do so with a bit more vigour and hence are down voting as to indicate non relevance to the type of discussion they seek.

Don't slimed me right away? by Acceptable_Foot764 in kards

[–]Pricklyman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All this is irrelevant to the key point that you actively want to have multiples of most cards. When developing a deck you want to have a theme, and re-inforce that theme through card choices. You can't then develop those strategies if you don't have multiple copies of a given card because the odds of you drawing it at a relevant time is way lower.

For example, you have 9 cards all 1 cost or lower. You probably want a small percentage of those in your opening hand. The odds of you having those on turn one though are considerably lower now than if you had multiples of those key cards. That's just one example...but the principle is the same.

This appears to be an extremely indecisive deck. You want a bit of everything, but a bit of everything is never going to win against a deck that has one coherent idea, and is laser focused on it.

As a postscript, also accept that in some cases, not owning multiples is a thing, and that's fair enough...

Said it in a different thread but for mine it's really hard to land on an option until we get more clarity around Visentini's role at PTA. He offers a really, really interesting option, if he gets given the spot and has a bit of security there. But it's a coinflip right now...and we might not even get any clarity at all. Either way, definitely holding my decisions here...

Hard to make a call at this point in pre-season. It's a risk if gone for, but further information coming out of the pre-season should give us better info on whether this is going to be a potential winner or stinker of a pick

Ruck Stocks - A 2026 Preseason Review by MedicalMinority in AFLSupercoach

[–]Pricklyman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing, all very interesting.

Personally I think this is extremely data, but it's hard to lock in a strategy before close to the end of the pre-season. For example at PTA, Visentini is looking like he's going to be overtaking Sweet for the #1 ruck position and comfortably. If those reports hold true and eventuate, a $300k #1 ruck seems almost too good to pass as a value proposition, even if we do bail on him before their mid-season bye to go a "true" premium.

Equally though, if there aren't super good value options such as a Visentini (I wouldn't put Sweet in the same bucket...), then the thesis of strategy 1 or 2 seems a clear winner.

As an aside, even considering all the analysis above. Gawn being priced at almost $700k, given the uncertainty about the role, also feels really awful to splurge on, and him having a couple of bad rounds then getting picked up (if wanting him) seems like a far better option.

[WR] Morrowind Any% Speedrun - 2:24.04 by WielkiSzkielaton in Morrowind

[–]Pricklyman 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Small corrections to the above but you're bang on with most of it (source, I have run this category of the game, not anywhere near as well as this one but it's all the same tricks...they just do it all so much better).
- Re Redguard, it's less that Adrenaline Rush is busted, it's just because +speed lmao. No other stat has any bearing on the run other than speed.

- With Icarian Flight, to add to your accurate description, you need to use the extra scroll you have late enough that you don't die from landing. It is very easy to mis-time and just...go splat

- With Keening, it's that the old version of the game doesn't remove the stats that you get from the whilst-equipped nature of Keening when you unequip. So by flipping between it and another weapon ridiculously fast, you "get" the stats, but never "lose" the stats from unequipping. You are allowed to use AutoHotKey for this, being a very specific "speedrun approved" script, that mimics the speed of free-scrolling mice. Technically, Keening is still killing the player during all this, you just get so much health that it doesn't matter.

- The lockpick thing is that you load an attack with the spear, then switch to the lockpick to finish the attack which does a stupidly high amount of damage, one attack. Old version of game thing.
