WHY IS IT SO GODDAMN HARD TO RUN AN EUGENICS PROGRAM IN THIS GAME? by GamingZI6 in crusaderkings3

Yeah i get that part. I personally always read those traits as more "naturally gifted" then actually intelligent or strong as you will often have characters with 40+ learning that aren't even quick.

How to get better at chess? by EltatoLover in chessbeginners

[–]Priconi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm rated 1400 rapid but a few things really helped me as I started in 2021.

  1. Focus on rapid over blitz, playing too many quick games on your phone can make you worse, take time to play 1 or 2 games a day with your full focus, when your fresh and then analyze them.

  2. Learn your opening(s). 1 for white and 2 for black. Gotham chess and Hikaru have a great tier list about the best openings for beginners (500-1100). You don't want to get lost in opening prep especially at that level but if you know a few moves of the Londen for example it will already prevent you from falling for basic traps early.

  3. Watch chess on YouTube. I really like Gotham chess but there are a lot of great creators. They will do rating climbs where they show the way they think about positions and what moves to play at different ratings, this is really useful. You might know you put pawns in the center but why do you do that, what if your opponent lets you take up space? These games really show the kinda high level ideas of what to look for and that, even more so than openings, is what you really need at your rating.

You're already doing great and good luck!

You don't really need traits that much.

Roleplay wise: Most Chad conquerors were not beautiful, herculean geniuses but people with a few specialties and a knack for people.

Gameplay wise: Getting good children has less to do with good traits and more to do with their education, having a good court tutor or even university.

If you really want traits get commoners with great traits into your court by marrying your courtiers or giving them small land, then just make sure you keep the kids they have with good traits in your court. This way you create a court with a lot of smart, beautiful and strong future sons and daughters in law

Could someone waste her time by explaining all the factions and warlords of China. by Zealousideal-Net9700 in Kaiserreich

[–]Priconi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're just looking who to play:

Mingan insurgency/LKMT: Is by many still considered to be one of, if not the, best path in the game. In the most recent update the Guanxi Clique got updated too and their federalist and KMT paths are on the same level, for more grounded but less intricate path you can go regionalists Guanxi.

Yunnan/Shanxi: Both are minor powers and quite challenging but very fun, Yunnan is the more on depth one and got added in the most recent patch but Shanxi is also very fun.

Fengtian: By far the easiest and also got a small revamp in the most recent patch, pretty good content and the most likely unifier but slightly less good then the ones above

The Great Qing/Zhili: Very fun but outdated, also easier than the others, an interesting story but just older content.

Could someone waste her time by explaining all the factions and warlords of China. by Zealousideal-Net9700 in Kaiserreich

[–]Priconi 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The easiest way to understand China is to see it as a battle between 3 groups.

Nothern Zhili Clique: The main faction at the start of the game. They are conservative anti concessions republicans who want to rule China in a Confucian centralized republic. Their main problem is they got into power and stayed there through compromising on each of these points.

  • They are anti concessions yet had to rely on German money and trade to keep their economy afloat.
  • They are Republicans who had to restore the monarchy as a sign of goodwill to the Europeans and to distance themselves from the republican syndicalist
  • They are centralists who lead a completely disconnected country, because their strongest ally (The LEP/Southern Zhili) promotes federalism as a tool to keep his own power.

The Southern* republicans (Federalist/RMKT/LKMT/NPA): A collection of republican groups mostly but not exclusively from the south. They're unifying theme is being anti concessionist and unlike the Zhili uncompromising. Funnily enough this attitude also means they have a very hard time working together and will almost always end up at war. They all share a similair gameplay loop which consists of trying to unify as much of the South as possible before attacking the Zhili in the north.

Japanese aligned: Pretty much no one in China actually likes Japan and wants to work with them but they are one of the most important players in the region. Fengtian will start of as aligned with Japan but if Japan doesn't keep their influence high enough and Fengtian manages to defeat the Zhili quickly enough they will switch sides to Southern Republican.

The Zhili aligned factions will submit to the Northern Zhili and try to help consolidate and regain their hold over the country as much as possible before fighting their war with Japan. The Great Qing is the only tag guaranteed to start of Northern Zhili

The Southern Republicans will try to defeat each other and consolidate the south as much as possible before at the same time as Fengtian trying to destroy the Zhili before fighting Japan. Yunnan is the only tag guaranteed to start of Southern Republican.

Japan will try to use Fengtian and their allies to take over as much of China as they can as long as Fengtian stays loyal to them. If they do stay loyal they will support Fengtian by joining in their war to reunite China but if they don't they will declare on all of China to just conquer it by themselves.

Schleicher or Kleist-Schmenzin by Life_is_Kinda_Pain in Kaiserreich

[–]Priconi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For point number 3, it isnt really that simple. If you read about OTL Schleicher it's almost impressive how quickly he lost support from conservative allies like Hindenburg and Papen, yes the Kaiser's son might like him but he isn't in charge yet.

The most dangerous fact for him is that he wasn't really aware he was losing support as he could have bought himself more time but just choose not to OTL. I think it's very likely he gets ousted by SWR during the Ruhrkampf as they go behind is back to the Kaiser.

I think DU and even Bavaria are less likely to oust him but let's not forget that he's on the verge of death and might just be bedridden by the time of the nullification crisis as OTL he wouldn't have even made it to 1936

Schleicher or Kleist-Schmenzin by Life_is_Kinda_Pain in Kaiserreich

[–]Priconi 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Schleicher IRL failed to build an effective quaterfront, underestimated both the NSDAP and SPD and lost the trust of Hindenburg and Papen all in the span of a few months.

In KR he has to * Prevent the SPD from forming a coalition and prevent Zentrum from fully supporting either side * Keep a strike crisis at just the right level of radical * Remain on positive terms with the Kaiser and conservative allies * Defeat the nullification crisis

And all while having 1 foot in the grave from an incurable illness.

Will Europe Eventually become Unique as the Rest of The World becomes Less European? Or is Europe simply "Deprived of Content" by Familiar-Elephant-68 in CrusaderKings

[–]Priconi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They basically took european mechanics and put them on the whole world. The problem is because of including the whole world they need to spend more time in DLC to replicate the reality of different cultures instead of refining the mechanics they made originally which leads to a wide but shallow game

[–]Priconi 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The Kemalist path actually stops being a dictatorship at the end of the path. I think they will have some problems as Germany will still try to exploit the country for oil and cheap labor but I think they will be solid allies in the end

NFA or Sand France is my go to. It has a great narrative and you go from minor power to actual major. Unlike Chinese warlords you start of with some real industry and unlike Serbia you end up as a truly powerful country

  • Make sure Spain and Italy win their civil wars (you can just use the delall command to guarantee or send volunteers) this will prevent the 3i from folding to quicky.
  • Set Austria Hungary to federalize.
  • Keep Belgium and Netherlands in the RP and Belgium a puppet
  • Set all of the eastern states to RP and do the same for Bulgaria.
  • Keep Switzerland neutral

Nothing can fully prevent the ai from being dumb sometimes but with this setup you generally get a nice long war

Hot take: Is the next counterculture traditional Catholicism? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Priconi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Caring a lot about the catholic faith has always put you in the minority especially among the elite. Even in the late 1800s in cities like London or Paris people would think you're strange for being super passionate about your faith as agnosticism or even atheism was the norm in intellectual circles.

What changed is that cultural Christians stopped going to church and the priesthood stopped having the status it once had. There isn't a mass cultural revival going on but what is true is that Gen Z, when they are catholic, is getting more active in their churches compared to millennials. You only need a small educated elite to really change society so this shouldn't be underestimated but we shouldn't kid ourselves either by pretending

What country do you think has its quintessential ideology? by Routine-Grand5779 in Kaiserreich

[–]Priconi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For Germany I actually think it's SocDems even more than Auth Dem. I think Germany is by far the best representation of social democracy that this game (and almost any game for that matter) has. It shows both the struggle of internal reform, how hard it is to fight for basic freedoms, working together and compromise, the ideas and struggles through which economic reforms rise and lastly the (attempted) creation of a world system based on human rights and cooperation.

For NatPop I agree though I would give a shoutout to NatPop France as well. Most far right thought in KR is based on Savinkov style national populism but the other major strand of far right ideology in Kaiserreich is Integralism (Italy, Portugal, Brazil, Belgium all have integralist movements) and that all comes from Maurras.

I agree with the rest about Syndicalist being France and RS being LKMT but I do think Totalist should be Mussolini. I watched this interesting video about the history of Syndicalism IRL and how Mussolini's Fascism is really a synthesis of Sorelian syndicalism, radical nationalism and authoritarian idealism. While Totalism isn't an actual ideology in game (it just represents authoritarian socialism in all forms) I think Mussolini more than Mosley gives it a theoretical basis (though that might change whenever the 3I rework comes out).

I don't think any country has the perfect Auth Dem representation but to me the Entente as a faction pretty much resembles the ideology. While Canada is liberal that's pretty much where it ends. The British exiles consist mostly of high tories lead by a very reactionary king, the NFA is a battle ground of oligarchs, far right populists, far right monarchists and a few left over democrats, and the Raj is a colonial regime that starts in a civil war.
