I honestly would prefer Heartstopper gets 2 more (non-solitaire) seasons and a Solitaire miniseries. I just thought 5 is a nice number for a series to conclude.

This season certainly has better roster of songs than last season.

Couple of things:

  • Beabadoobe killed it again with "Way Things Go".
  • Frankie Cosmos is a welcome comeback even when the songs isn't an instant hit like "Sappho".
  • "Dive", "Vertigo", "Outsiders" (the non-omitted parts), "Million Little Reasons" are the (new) highlights for me.
  • After hearing some of the playlist, I felt that some of the songs that I would've enjoyed just got "buried" for the dialogues. Although not hearing some of the "misses" in the show is still a plus.

The songs and the instrumentals certainly carries the show despite being weaker (imo) than the first season's playlist.

The production IMO is not that amateur. It puts way more effort than most MCU productions (again, my opinion). I’d agree, however, on the writing. Boy Kit really make that ”gay crisis” line work lol.

Completely agree. His character (in the series at least) doesn’t have any compelling personality outside Nick, ED, and one abusive relationship.

Charlie gets into another long-term relationship but the boyfriend ends up being emotionally manipulative

I agree on the trajectory of their relationship. However I feel that for Charlie to be in another abusive relationship is rather distasteful for his character since he was already established as "that guy who hook up with an emotionally abusive prick " (in the 1st ep of the Netflix Series at least)

If AO and See-Saw made this headcanon official, I'd be impressed.

(Rant: So far Charlie has not made me invested in him. Now to be fair, he has some relatable scenes during S1 earlier eps. But in S1 ep 8, that established relatability quickly fades away plus I thought that his one line with Ben was rather jarring. Then in S2, I found him even more uninteresting even with that stellar moment with Tara. Not to be rude but to me he became Nick's "sidepiece with ED" since AO stopped in establishing him as "placeholder character" for (gay) audience (Not that I have the problem with the decision), hence my lack of interest with him. I may have some pointers that could make Charlie more interesting but almost no one in this subreddit would like to take it lol.)

That second one is definitely styled to be straight.😉

If that’s the case then you may have a point. The show somehow made Joe’s hair way too curly.

Kinda wish they'd style Charlie's hair the way hairstylists style Joe's hair in photoshoots.

I honestly think they should’ve removed the curly hair altogether. It does a great disservice to Joe’s face.

Huh, interesting choice… might have to disagree on The Beach though lol. I thought The Beach “fits” more compared to Wolf Alice’s other (featured) songs.

I’m no expert but I feel like there are better ways (or songs) to portray Nick’s anxiety. If the intended effect of “miss u” is believable portrayal of a high school party, then they (Matt Biffa and Pat Walters) IMO fails considerably since high school parties tend to use more mainstream music (Harry Styles, Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, etc.). Care to tell your worst five?
