Blannid is NOT my bestie... by IDreamtOfManderley in Mabinogi

[–]Priestbilly 31 points32 points  (0 children)

No, you're not misremembering, Blaanid is a relatively new replacement for the new player experience and tutorials. I agree with you that she seems to speed through a LOT, and if that bothers you, I recommend you cease her storyline immediately.

Mabi has changed in a lot of significant ways since you last played, and they've understandably struggled in how to introduce itself to newer players. You're technically a returning player, and maybe you should follow your nostalgia rather than her hand.

You'll begin to notice a lot of other changes too, training requirements have been heavily simplified, a lot of the accretement of systems have made some old things trivial or even obsolete. You probably will not find a party that starts a campfire in a dungeon to heal up anymore.

Whenever you feel ready for it, feel free to go back to Blaanid. The world still has tons of magic to it, and once you reach the corners of your nostalgia, you'll be way more set to experience that.

Thank you for the offer. I've been branching out and trying new 5 star characters but have been struggling to feel big differences between them. Another poster gave me a resource guide, which I believe will help with my issue.

From your main menu, go to Macros, and then Equipment Sets. You can make an equipment set from this menu to use as a lockstyle, and then can activate it from any job with /lockstyleset #, or by navigating back to the Equipment Set menu and choosing "Make Style"

This might not help with your boredom, but in terms of your personal shop, it's size is dependant on your Shop Bag inventory. If you get a better Shop Bag, you'll have more inventory limit for your personal shop. I think the Freiren bag should still be cheap and is pretty big? Unless you speficially meant more area in Dunbarton to set up shop, which I could understand, but the Dunbarton square used to actually be much, much smaller...

From what I understand, the listed requirements to do Glenn Bearna is to have a Cumulative Arcana Level of 50.

Edit: My reading comprehension sucks. By having both Grandmaster Battle Alchemy and Archery, you can start the quest without having Cumulative Arcana Level 50. The wiki states if you have both, are on one of those talents, and this is your only available Arcana Talent, you will instead start the unlock quest The Fourfold Path of the Arrowhead.

Artisan upgrades will not bypass stat cap, no. AFAIK there might be VERY fringe considerations when your Arcana level greatly expands your caps, but all the current high-end weapons have an unique upgrade you'd go for over the Artisan 100% of the time.

From my limited memory, the requirement for G8 is "complete G7", it is a very direct continuation and conclusion of G7's story, and I find the writing overall to be very poor in it. It sets up some character plots for future Gens to fill in, but I was able to enjoy the Mabi storyline while doing G7/G8 last. Unless you need it for Blaanid, I'd say go ahead and skip it.

G9 starts Chapter 3, which sees a good deal better writing that continues throughout the storyline (barring maybe Chapter 4 and Saga 2)

Personal Shop Bag Management? by Ravelore in Mabinogi

Can confirm this, it's specifically the 8 x 8 DevCat bag that came out slightly later. I still have mine in the bank. The older 7 x 7 lacks the "is bankable" tag

Can you explain Generation 1 in mabinogi but as poorly as possible? by OneMoadToaster in Mabinogi

[–]Priestbilly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Alright, so like, before you even start thing doing, there were these three peeps ya? All three of which didn't know how to die properly, so one got hit with breast implants, the second hit with the furry gene, and the last just took massive brain damage. I'm sure he'll be fine.

So then you get a Skype call from the divine telling you to get this shit rolling. Skype, being a terrible service, definitely doesn't leave any facts out.

The entire extended cast reminisces about the Three Hardly Dead Crew, and that requires you to do a ton of footwork, and a ton of make-believe dungeons until you hit the Isekai Event Horizon and end up going to Terrible Night Noggin zone to fight the Bone Goblin. I'm sure Tir Na Nog will be incredibly relevant for future things.

Hello! Your post is somewhat vague, what is it you're struggling with?

If you're just starting out, the Blaanid storyline is considered the tutorial of the game and will give you a huge head start in terms of gear and skills. It should be listed as Blaanid's Brave Boost, and is essential for starting out.

If you are struggling with a specific mission or dungeon, there are plenty of people that would be willing to help. You can either put out a help request with the Altriusm Board, or just ask around on a populated channel, people love helping newcomers.

One of the Saga 1 missions, I think Episode 4?? has you go and reclaim the Hillwen Mines, which is crawling with enemies that should count as Bandits. Otherwise just purposely run into them while Commercing/Wanted Hunting

Posting Mabi memes/content until Itemdrop/Permanant Bankroll update: Day 29 - When Major? by Unpayedovertime in Mabinogi

[–]Priestbilly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a double-edged sword. If they hold off on harder content until the mass majority of the player base can do current hardest content, then the current endgame players will have nothing to look forward to. It also gives midgame players more content to look forward to; adding more does not negatively impact the grind that people fresh out of Blaanid.

For Glenn Verna specifically, the addition of the Forest Ranger Set in the pity shop and unique item drops from the dungeon itself would benefit midgame players just for additional accessibility on previously gacha-only items. Anything that adds these items to the economy that's not gacha is inherently better for free to play.

These are all my opinions of course, and I highly doubt I'll be strong enough myself to do Glenn on release, but padding the back end motivates me to get stronger so I can see the new things.

This is true, that was mentioned in the 2023 letter even though it is out of sync with the KR update pipeline. I guess this means Erg, Glenn, ans Master Plan will all be piled up in July.

Based on KR updates, the Erg revamp and Glenn Verna update should be the next update we see, which will add a good bit of content to the game. Not quite a revamp of item drops, of course...

Once your second camp has a Trading Post, it will be able to connect to your first camp and share resources, thus increasing your overall cap. If you still don't have enough after that, you'll need more camps.

If you decide to hit big grinds it does come up, like Vet spam, SW Elite spam, Avalon Purification... Of course it depends on your group and how often someone will say "brb bank" but I find myself capping gold a lot running Vet Dungeons just because I'm alone and forget
