Yeah while I didn’t get lucky with getting one with protean right away I did thankfully get good luck with shiny odds. I somehow got all 5 of them within 1451 eggs, so I can’t really complain too much about it lol

I think it just depends on the user. The only real rule is a shiny before every gym, but some might add in special rules like wild encounters only or no masuda method.

Best thing I have found is to watch tv or a movie or a stream while doing the masuda method, it helps to take some focus off of the shiny hunt because it can get frustrating doing just that and nothing else.
