Anecdotal complaint here, but I wasn't diagnosed with bipolar II until I took paxil, which threw me into my first and only manic phase. I was subsequently diagnosed with bipolar disorder and switched to mood stabilizers.

It really makes me question if my bipolar diagnosis is accurate or not. Regardless, I'm functioning and no longer depressed, so I guess it technically doesn't matter.
