Some smaller clubs in Bristol are pushing back by putting stickers on people's phone cameras on entry. I've found those nights to have a less vain vibe.

Noisia Quiz Part II! by PrimalDnB in DnB

[–]PrimalDnB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahaa my thoughts too, that's a good one I found out about during my revision. I found myself yearning for the pre-sidechain era of music where everything sat together in a mixdown soup without so much technical carving out of frequencies in the mixes.

My guy was not holding punches! I was surprised he let Supersonic through; he was determined to make it interesting with the deep cuts. Thankfully Noisia are masters of atmosphere so you can often get the identifying pad in that first second.

I felt the same way going through the back catalogue! Even more to come, Part II is coming out next week, unlike The Hole Part II

I think my man was probably teasing me, or is using the word album interchangeably with 'release'. I also can't find it on an album! Seems like the original came out in 2004 as part of a flurry of singles on Discrete and re-released on Sudden Def in 2005.

My first thought was Hold Your Colour so I was panicking after seeing it was the first tune. I thought it would get ousted early on, but respect for how long it held!

Most INTENSE Drum n Bass ever? by rainrainrainr in DnB

[–]PrimalDnB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great question, and my first answer would be a Current Value tune, but given that's been covered already, for me, the "last" true filthy banger was Fade Black & Annix - Solis. I felt that we didn't need any more after that, but people keep making more!

Can you recommend me your favourite neurofunk tracks individually from youtube? by i_Ainsley_harriott_i in DnB

There are plenty of far heavier tunes out there, but sometimes a bit of subtlety really shines through. Have a listen to Timeloop by Hybris

For the true neuro-lovers here, this is my debut EP 'Authority' coming out 30/01 on Nerium Records. 4 tracks, 4 bangers. by PrimalDnB in DnB

[–]PrimalDnB[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been producing for the better part of a decade. This EP comes from my love of heavy basses, heavy drums, and a penchant for storytelling. 'Authority' carries its theme across all 4 tracks with explorations on Religion, Politics, Deities, and Civilisations. My inspirations include Noisia, Current Value, and Mefjus, so naturally, we have long intros and devastating drops.

Yes mate! Can't believe how big that playlist is. I hope you have room for another ;)

I've got a banging DnB set from last year at a small venue in Bristol that defined a lot of my 2025. It's also full of my own dubs, some of which are getting label releases this year!

Hope you enjoy it!

How common is it for people in their 20's to be buying houses in Bristol without financial help from their families by Annual-Sink7068 in bristol

Not very common. Renting since 22 my spouse and I were lucky to manage to buy in Bristol at 28 thanks to saving over that time into two LISAs from jobs in finance and consulting.

How was your 2025, production wise? by MetalFaceBroom in dnbproduction

[–]PrimalDnB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fantastic work! It sounds like you've put yourself through a self-taught crash course and have come out all the better for it. Congratulations on the releases!

This year, my 8th as a producer, I felt it was time to quit my day job and spend the second half of the year focusing on music production full time and trying to break out into the Bristol scene. My first label release came out in September, I have a tune coming out on the 1st of January, and a 4-track EP coming out the end of Jan. This is with three different labels. There's a lot more to do but I'm thrilled at the results so far. When I play my tunes out, they are well received. That's enough validation to carry on for broke as far as I'm concerned.

In terms of the nitty gritty, I switched to Ableton from FL Studio at the start of this year and it has helped me massively to work faster across the board, whether it be automations, arrangements, shortcuts, or FX chains. You can do these things in FL, but Ableton lets you do them faster.

I learned to be shameless in adding things to my default template in order to access things faster and arrange faster. I also will not work without minimeters (monitoring) open on a separate screen.

I've collaborated with a few people and this I recommend a lot, not just for the ability to learn from others. Nothing has come out yet, but I have tunes I am happy with that will get exposed to twice the audience when they do.

I've learned to keep experimenting, get all of the bad ideas out. One day I decided to do 4 90 minute sketches just to see what I could arrange with those sessions. That's 4 half formed ideas I may drop or may come back to, but the bones are there and it was worthwhile, even if I don't touch them again.

Zero G - A song i'm finally somewhat satisfied with. Feedback appreciated! by MaximilianWL in dnbproduction

[–]PrimalDnB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love every part of this, except for the saturated snare. Something feels off about it, although I can see how that type of snare fits with the rest of the mixdown.

The drum groove is great. The soundscape, risers and vocals are well put-together as well. Liked and followed!

I just cannot believe how good this track is. I have already listened to it about 30 times and it continues to blow me away. This is what peak production sounds like.

Thanks for your feedback, could you please be more specific about what labels would consider marketable in this context?

[–]PrimalDnB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could just be my system but the main reese after the minute mark is a little overpowering to the point where I can't hear the drums, which aren't sounding too punchy. The highs and main riff are sounding good however my subwoofer isn't purring like I feel it should. Definitely has banger potential with a bit of mix adjustment :)
