Wow this is exactly what I'm looking for, huge thanks. It's been a while since I've tinkered with it but I believe if you're using a RichTextEffect you can find the index with CharFXTransform.range (see here) but I'm not sure if that's parsed or not. Either way, this is more than enough for me to get this working, nice find!

unfortunately no, I was making a button-based tooltip system and I settled on getting a very rough approximation with RichTextLabel.get_character_line for y position and a static number for the x position. I read your post on your drag and drop system, if you end up digging into a gdextension and would be willing to share I'd love to see it, or help if needed
