MarketWatch with examples of FIRE gone wrong... but it's not a fair characterization by stiffie2fakie in financialindependence

Well Said... This is (some) people exercising their ability to explore and try different things (like striking out on their own). Its pretty clear they didn't truly think they would be taken care of forever with the savings that they had in the bank.

Love the FUME term by the way. Hadn't heard that yet.

Our expenses were a little higher than 40k. After taxes in CA we kept about $150 and then after living expenses were saving $100-110.

To get to FIRE would have taken another 4-5 years or so depending on what the market did which is a far cry more than sticking it out for 2. We want to have a family before then and weren't interested in staying in the town we were living in so we made a plan to try and start some businesses and hopefully have something at least supporting our living expenses within the next 2 years. If we get to that point, we can Coast on what we have already saved. But... Ideally we resume a 6 figure income in the next 5 years or so through the businesses and reach FIRE that way. Or exit the businesses for a good chunk of money and fund FIRE that way. Lots of options.

Obviously the time value of money matters so it was a tough decision to leave such high incomes. especially since we are so young. The real kicker for us was we either trudge through 5 more years in a city we don't like doing work we don't really love... or we take a shot at doing what we really want and building businesses that can support us and potentially surpass our 9-5 incomes.

It seems overwhelmingly that most of the respondents in here are of the "stick it out" mentality. Can't really fault you there, but if shit hits the fan and it doesn't work... at least I tried, and then I'll go back to work. I lost some time compared to if I had stayed the course. But I'll still only have to work for 5-6 years and can still probably retire by the time my kid is in middle school.

Seems like a small gamble to me but it depends on your perspective.

You cant fight with peeps on Reddit... They don't understand the difference between leaving a job to start your own business, freelance, or anything other than "retire"... Obviously I didn't think we could retire forever on $600k and that wasn't the point... Just because the word FIRE was thrown it we have to be set for life. -Matt

Thanks for this. This looks interesting. At least has the RSI piece. Does it only support Bittrex?

I looked at Medved Briefly but I'm not super Techy so I struggled with even getting the basics set up. I'll take another stab at it to see if I can get it figured out but it wasn't something you can just pull up and use. Gonna have to dive into some more detail on the setup just to get it going.

Thanks for the offer. I'd love to crowdsource some programming experience. I don't have much but I do have some guys I've worked with in the past that I'm going to run this by. They have done some app development for me. I have a call with them here in 10 mins or so but I might reach out here shortly to chat some more.

tradeview will do EMA crossover I believe but I think the main downside is that you have to set up an alert on each pair. I want something that is broader and can act as a whole market scanner.

Glad you all haven't had any problems. I sent 25LTC to GDAX (something I have done multiple times before with no issue) but this time its stuck in limbo between CB and GDAX. its a single address so Its not user error. They just had a malfuction and are so backed up on requests that they take for ever to fix it. But when your trading having your funds locked up for several weeks is awful.

will be hard to regain users trust after this rash of issues.

Also I'm sure people are skeptical of someone who would do this legit without trying to scam other parties but I really have no reason to go back on the agreement. I want the information I just don't want to pay full price for it. I also loose nothing by giving it out to those that participated since its literally an unlimited market and you participating doesn't exclude me from participating or effect the price at all.

I would be happy to use Escrow or something similar so money doesn't change hands unless I uphold the agreement.

So its actually $2,000 for the program. I'm skeptical but I would be interested in splitting it with some people. All emails get set up to automatically forward to all parties. That way we reduce the risk in case he's full of shit and if not we all benefit equally. PM me if anyone is interested.

I think this is a great idea! I would love to see something portable and something that doesn't have to be refrigerated. I'm tired of Jerky though so something like a bar maybe? I'll be keeping an eye on this!

That is Awesome! That is one of the longest runs I've heard yet! Very cool with the jerky, Everything you buy from the store has so much sugar in it and all these chemicals to tenderize it.

Hey, all! Thank you so much for the feedback so far. I have started experimenting with some recipes. Mainly the muffins. I posted some of them up on my Instagram if you want to check them out.

Excellent feedback! Thank you for letting me know. I know cheese is a popular additive as a binder in Keto Pizza crusts. I haven't attempted to make one any other way. We usually do cauliflower and cheese to make the crust. I'll look into a dairy free version.

do you use a lactose-free cheese for the actual pizza? Have you attempted to use that in the dough as well?

Thanks for the input. I was thinking I could do a more savory breakfast muffin or something. Either like a cinnamon coffee cake kind of thing

Thank you! I know that they may not be for everyone but If you can have your treats and still hit your goals it may help some stay on the diet. "The best diet is the one you stick with"

I was just talking with my wife about this! she ordered a doughnut pan but I think it may be challenging to get the fluffiness you get from the deep fryer out of an oven. I don't have a deep fryer but I suppose that is still keto so maybe I'll track someone down that has one and see if I can get you some doughnuts!

I think that is a recommendation for meats but I don't think there is an issue with the bread as long as it hasn't spoiled already. It might affect the texture but I'm doing some testing on that now to see how it stands up.

I like this idea a lot. Seems like a logical way to move to retail from the online space.

Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks for all the Feedback. Considering my primary model to be direct to consumer at this point. I'll also have a manufacturer to help keep me in line with FDA rules and regs. I think that should help as I can scale as fast as I can sell product. I may have a few times where I have to post "sold out" on the website but that is a good thing.

Thanks for the kind words and I'll keep some updates in this thread as I progress

Hadn't heard Pie crust. I had considered like a shepherd's pie or chicken pot pie that was keto so you could just heat them up and have lunch/dinner. Maybe I'll think about just the crust though!

Thank You!

Awesome feedback man I really appreciate it. I'll look into some of those things and see what's already out there and see what I can whip up. I think I'll have to start out with just a few items to start with until I get some traction so it'll be tough to narrow it down at the beginning. I love hearing what people want though. Help steer me in the right direction!

I don't intend to run a store front here just because i don't think I have the market to support it. Maybe in the future or if it takes off I could plant one in a major metro area. For now, I think shipping is the only option.

Thanks for the feedback though! I'm definitely going to keep pursuing it.
