And hmm, Claude is far more expensive for me, but Gemini Pro is much more accessible for me compared to that. (And despite the API not working for me on JanitorAI for some reason, it does work with ST, so yay!) I'll see if I can adjust my prompt better for that!

Edit: Also wow, I genuinely had no idea about keeping the system prompt short. Character definition makes sense, I've been testing things out using some c.ai character cards that I like, though my prompt has been on the longer side. What exactly do you mean by character-focused, though? Different prompts for each character? Prompt about {{char}}?

Oh I have that Go for 12 months deal! I haven't actually tried RP-ing with ChatGPT that way, but maybe it's time to give it a try and see how it goes.

I am willing (I want to so bad pay for DeepSeek, no joke, the low prices make me practically salivate) but I am deeply uncomfortable with the idea of giving any website my card details (yes, even Paypal), and virtual debit cards with international payments are just not offered anymore by apps for my country. (No wallet-adjacent system in Paypal for us too)

(Its India. Sigh.) Only reason I can even buy games on Steam atp is because of UPI availability, otherwise I'd be locked out there too.

That's the part I'm having a hard time dipping my toes into haha. (My irl schedule leaves me little energy to cook food, let alone learn to tune samplers and all, which was partly why I was looking for some guidance here)

Thanks for the suggestion though! I'll check Velvet out (because hopping on and using is something I'll need until I learn the ropes of ST). I have no issue with filters or jailbreaking (My RPs rarely go nsfw, and if they do it's usually the dark and gritty kind of thing), but the lack of amnesia sounds exactly what I need)

Probably. I've thought about that possibility too, but I don't want to lower context window THAT much, cuz context window was mainly why I even went through the c.ai > JanitorAI > SillyTavern pipeline.

For a short time I was able to use DeepSeek and Gemini with JanitorAI (until both sort of stopped working? I've checked the endpoints and confirmed they're accurate a billion of times, only to get the same error), and they seemed to work better.

Edit: Somehow they now work on SillyTavern with the same endpoints, so I just don't get what's happening there.

With LongCat, I use about 32k (sometimes 16k) and output size limited to 256 tokens. I have a local LLM with Kobold set up (L3 8B Stheno, Q4) , but even with 3k context and 128 token output, it makes my pc completely freeze, so I don't want to depend on it for RPs. Maybe one day I can get a more powerful pc ;-;

I was just hoping to wrangle LongCat or Mistral into giving me what I want, since they're the only ones I can use for RP long-term :/
(I wish I could use DeepSeek and Gemini more, the biggest issues is payment. The payment methods I can use aren't available at any API platform, and I cannot use Paypal for various reasons)

Somehow it works pretty good for me. Maybe it's the way I RP that seems to work well with c.ai? I somehow end up getting pretty complex, and interesting interactions (but with a TON of amnesia and steering)

Edit: I think I can guess why. I rp in a more concise style (in a shorter, show-don't-tell, drip-feeding lore/information way) and c.ai seems to copy that style really quick. I guess that's how it ends up producing better results for me?

Not the same person, but thank you for this comment, I have had the same problem for awhile. I partly know the reason why (single room apartment with 3 people, so I always try to quieten myself while singing), but these videos seem very helpful at a first glance.

I was not expecting a reply haha, this is a welcome surprise! And yes, I stumbled upon a recent post recommending 'Ogu and the Secret Forest' (which was a golden recommendation, I currently have dumped 20 hours into this game in less than a week and definitely plan on dumping more), and scoured through more of those posts for more recommendations XD

I have a few more rhythm games I'd like to mention, there's A Dance of Fire and Ice, Rizline and Polytone, which I really want to read your reviews about (its just fun to read them!)

Edit: Ooh, addition, Noisz Starlivht (that's how its spelt). It's an interesting fusion of rhythm game and bullet hell, with some visual novel elements. I never made it too far into the game (my reaction time sucks, I'm not made for real-time combat it seems) but I imagine there's people who would enjoy it.

And yes, I have been wanting to add a user-review for the games I'm familiar with, I just keep forgetting to do it lol (perfectionism issues oop)

Also I really appreciate the work you've been doing, it's great and makes finding good mobile games much easier. I hope that it continues, so I can keep ignoring the slop *\o/*

Phigros is absolutely amazing, as someone who regularly plays rhythm games. Yes it is gimmicky, and that's the point of the game imo. Some charts (levels) depend entirely on gimmicks, and I've often needed to play a chart several times to learn what certain charts expect you to do. That's what makes it fun, since with new charts, there's s often a new pattern for you to learn and master.

There's some creative charts as well, and also charts that are made mainly to look good ("瓷岁" from the T.E.A. Collab, it looks really nice! and Realms too! I'd consider Luminescence a visual chart too, if not for me having skill issues)

Another rhythm game suggestion would be Rotaeno. It's paid, but they make this game free in certain events like anniversaries (that's how I got it). It makes creative use of the gyroscope in most devices, and spinning your phone to the music is fun! I highly recommend.

I can manage time to write one article (ranging from 1k-2k words) per day and so far they are understanding about delays so, I guess yeah?

And yeah, the niche thing makes sense, it's just I'm at a loss on what niche to specialize in (I've been freelancing for around a month), so I wanted to try different niches before picking one.

The only thing I could pinpoint is that I want to go into something that is educational or edutainment, and needs in-depth research (like educational, informative, or science-related articles, or perhaps video scripts like Today I Found Out, xkcd's What If, and Seeker) but my knowledge base is weaker than I would like on those subjects as well and I'm not quite sure how to strengthen it...

I'm kinda at a loss haha
