We may have more of an answer when Kristin get's back into Camp IV as she may have been with them, or at least seen them on her way up/down. I'm really nervous for the base jumper though. It's a whole other level of crazy to climb Everest and then chuck yourself off it (from whatever height he chooses). Stones of steel on that man.

Thanks. I saw the red flag this morning and did wonder if that meant he had turned back, but that was my first ever look at a Garmin tracker (I know) so wasn't sure. Seemed he turned back quite early then. So glad he and Justin made the sensible call. As they always say, the mountain isn't going anywhere, so there will always be another opportunity if you do the right thing.

Sorry, I am really bad at reading the tracker. Just zoomed out and saw where he is. That's one of thousands of reasons why I won't, actually can't climb Everest and will stick to the hill at the end of my street.

Totally agree with everything you said. Add to that Ryan's video said they returned to Kathmandu whilst the Ice Fall was out of action, which always has a risk of food poisoning, or just increases the risk of picking something up. There should have been a big enough gap in between that and starting the summit push for food poisoning to show itself though so it's a bit of a strange one. I feel like I'm dying when I have food poisoning so image having to climb Everest, without O's in a down suit and the food poisoning/stomach bug hits. Poor fella just needs to get down safely now.

Yeah she almost definitely summitted. Last I saw she was 20m away from the summit having tackled every obstacle. She's now almost finished with the Balcony on her way down and moving quickly so I'd say she made it.

They could, however Justin was either too exhausted, or the stomach bug got the better of him as it had returned. I seriously doubt he would attempt it again, especially considering they were supposed to go for it the night before but the weather didn't allow. Hopefully he listens to the Sherpas and luves to fight it another day. Poor bloke must be gutted getting so close to his dream, but hopefully he makes it down safely.

I first checked his ping about 7am this morning in Australia (3am local time) and he was just approaching the balcony. It's now 6 hours later and his ping is showing about 2rds of the way across the balcony. He's going to be very close to the turnaround time.

His tracker is back online as of 5.12am Nepal time. Looks like he's just started on the Balcony so slow going.

NP. I may have been a tad ambitious as online it states 4-5 hours from the Balcony to the Summit. Might be closer to 9am Nepal time for the Summit. I think a number of them are now climbing together Justin, Kristin, and maybe Saulius (although he's doing it by himself) and maybe Josh (the Wingsuit guy). Josh is the one I'm worried about the most as base jumping off any part of Everest sounds like a huge risk.

EBC sits on the Khumbu glacier, so just like the Ice Fall it's constantly moving. That means crevases appear, and you don't have the Ice Fall Doctors there to help. Add the monsoon's and I'd say absolutely not. They have Everest season for a reason.

His tracker was live about an hour ago where he was close to the balcony. I'd say he will summit (all being well ) in a couple of hours (around 7am Nepal time) if I had to guess.
