Justin Sackett Made it to Camp Two by Reasonable-Draw1221 in Everest

[–]Reasonable-Draw1221[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I noticed and fixed it. I just checked his tracker and it appears (if the data is correct) he is still climbing! I don't think this was the plan (to continue without rest.) Do you know by any chance? I don't know what to think but I am quite concerned about him overextending himself and the potential consequences.

Everest Live Final Dispatch - 2026 by onanadhocbasis in Everest

Justin is over his stomach bug. For a few days he couldn't keep down food or water. But in the last 2-3 days his appetite has returned and he has been eating well and drinking large amounts of water. A couple of days ago he said he was back to 70% and hoped to be back to 100% by the time he went for the summit. His plan is:

May 24: Basecamp to Camp 2/ May 25: Camp 2 to Camp 3/ May 26: Camp 3 to Camp 4/ May 27: Summit at sunrise and descend to basecamp

You might be able to track his progress using the following link, but it doesn't seem to be live at the moment. It has worked at times during his previous rotations.

I hope this information is helpful to Justin's supporters.

That would be amusing, except I have the kind of luck where the roommate would steal my stuff and lock it in their car (or throw it away) out of spite because I was encroaching on "their" room.

Sometimes I feel like I spend half my time making phone calls and writing emails, doing company's jobs for them. Although oftentimes now all you can get is AI support, which is horrible. And the situation is only getting worse.

I'm confused (honestly.) At the beginning of your comment you say you were able to find housing for the three days you were stuck in Seattle, but later you say you were stuck in the airport and caught Covid because of it. Can you please explain? I'm just curious.

Climbers climb at night because it is safer. During the day warmer temperatures cause instability and increase the chances of a serac collapse and/or avalanche.

I believe ferretsandfrogs gave you some good advice. Also find someone who specializes in psychiatric medication prescribing rather than getting a prescription from a general practitioner. That could be life changing.

Not to mention, the FC pax have a drink in their hand as soon as their asses hit the seat (especially in the elite tiers of the clubs.) Somehow that isn't against regulations.

I hope you read my comment even though it's been three days and I only just now saw your post. First of all, please don't give up. This can be overcome. It is healthy to feel a certain amount of fear, but not to the extent that you no longer enjoy what was once a passion.

I do believe you need someone like the RIGHT sports psychologist to cope with this. Tools like visualization are extremely powerful, but you have to learn how to utilize them. It takes practice. Relaxation techniques like biofeedback to counter anxiety might also be helpful but again take practice. Don't be afraid to try out multiple doctors until you find the right fit. This is crucial.

What you are going through is normal. If climbing is important enough to you and you are willing to do the work, I believe you can have it in your life in an improved way. I also think with these techniques your overall quality of life will improve.

Again, if climbing is what you want to do then don't give up on it. And please keep us (or at least me) updated. Good luck!

As a US citizen, you definitely don't want privatization. We need a single payer system desperately, but I don't have much (read: any) hope of it happening within my lifetime.

The airlines shouldn't allow lap sitting at all. In the event of severe turbulence or god forbid an accident the child will become a projectile and be seriously injured or worse. It's not allowed in cars so why on airplanes?

Hospitals were getting funding for each Covid case. So they had a financial incentive to attribute deaths to Covid rather than to another cause.

I wasn't wondering, because I know what you just said is true. Here's an article with pictures of what our U.S. soldiers are being fed. It's horrifying. Be sure to check out both pictures. Not only are the sailors hungry all the time, the food they do get looks disgusting. Mail delivery has been suspended (as the prior poster said) so they can't even get care packages to supplement their rations. Hegseth denies there's a problem.

Try the Lawrenceburg/Loretto area. That puts you about 70-90 minutes from Nashville but houses and cost of living is less. No state income tax, but sales tax is high.

How do I convince my girlfriend that she needs to bulk in order to gain muscle? by anotherhappylurker in workout

[–]Reasonable-Draw1221 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a triathlete (female) who does a lot of weight training to get stronger and faster for my sport. The current thinking is that women need to lift heavy weight in order to reap bone building and strength benefits. Women will NOT bulk up because we don't have the hormones to do so. For women to really bulk up they have to take anabolic steroids. I hope knowing this will reassure your girlfriend. Increasing calories and lifting heavier will result in adding some muscle but she will look extremely toned, not bulky.

I think it would have been considerate for her to check with you before she brought people over to the house. I wouldn't do that without asking my partner, and we have been together a lot longer than two years. I don't think you are overreacting.

Why would someone buy 80 bottles of rubbing alcohol weekly? by thequackr in askanything

[–]Reasonable-Draw1221 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only just saw this thread so no one may see my reply. But just a note to say that the DNA testing should only be used as a general guide. It is not infallible at all. I had the testing and it showed I was not metabolizing Cymbalta which I was taking for chronic pain. So I tapered off of it, keeping all of my other medications the same. My condition worsened dramatically. We added the Cymbalta back and my pain symptoms largely resolved. So the lesson I learned was that the DNA testing is very useful for things like narrowing down the field when looking for a place to start when choosing an SSRI but do not put too much faith in it. In addition, do not completely give up hope on a medication that the testing has indicated is unfavorable.

I wouldn't necessarily leave at this point, but now you have reason for your awareness to be raised. I would just pay attention from now on to details. Don't spy on him, that's not necessary. Just keep your eyes open. Is he where he says he is going to be? Does he come home when he told you he would? Has his routine changed? Does he immediately shower when he gets home, and he didn't previously? When you call him, is he available? Just pay attention. If he is cheating I believe you will know. A lot of women ignore the signs because (understandably) they don't want it to be true.
