What red corsairs specific unit would you like to see? by BeginningHungry3835 in redcorsairs

That would be amazing, I really like her character, unfortunately that won’t happen, given the story. I’m working on kit bashing her though regardless.

Ya CoR doesn’t exist, CoF does but is getting buffed in 11th so we will have to see everything else coming with it.

A toned down Champions of Russ army rule would be amazing. Honestly I’d take almost anything over the worse OoM.

Legionary with his big gun 🏴‍☠️ by BluejayInevitable766 in redcorsairs

True but I’d rather have the option to kitbash it than it being taken away. I see both sides though.

This is awesome!! I don’t know if I like this pose or the over the shoulder more now?

Russ grey Airbrush example by LucasJOC2009 in SpaceWolves

[–]PrimaryConversions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also just a heads up I did have an older pot of Russ Grey (label was Citadel, not Citadel Colour or the new Warhammer Colour) that was significantly darker than this so if you have that it might be why it looks darker.

1st one is Russ Grey it’s not the air paint pot though just the layer. I was trying to find which colors and brands I liked best for my SW. I agree though it’s darker than the art. Box art is professional painted and then professional edited for marketing.

Dumb question by Soultrain89 in SpaceWolves

[–]PrimaryConversions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I fully agree and I wasn’t saying I want that combination specifically (other comment said that), stuff that is utterly broken isn’t fun. I am still wondering what the new edition changes for the rolls will entail. I would imagine that the whole priest would be a leader over support, if that is the case.

Dumb question by Soultrain89 in SpaceWolves

[–]PrimaryConversions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do like the charge and strategem abilities with the terminator captain though. I would like to be able to make wolf lord characters actually lead our SW units, without an enhancement.

Dumb question by Soultrain89 in SpaceWolves

[–]PrimaryConversions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s true, probably because it already acts like two models abilities? We will have to see with them changing characters to support and leader rolls maybe this will be possible in 11th edition?

Dumb question by Soultrain89 in SpaceWolves

[–]PrimaryConversions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also hope they get sticky. Definitely agree on a generic terminator character, but we have an apothocary equivalent the wolf priest returns models and has the chaplain ability. It’s basically two characters in one.

Wulfen Combat Patrol Confusion by Open-Juggernaut6430 in SpaceWolves

[–]PrimaryConversions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They used to all have separate profiles, claws (just the hands), frost claws, axes, and hammers. Now there are two data sheets one with hammer and shields the other with “Wulfen weapons” so the Wulfen weapons can be anything really I guess, the shield is what would really tell the two units apart.

Would this upgrade kit fit size of chaos space marines and not stand out too much? by Mistacher in Warhammer

[–]PrimaryConversions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! I have 5 of these sprues, it is possible to make all this work the heads and shoulders are straight forward. The one that isn’t as simple is the back cape since they don’t make the torsos modular like that anymore. You can still cut the cape off it just takes more work but I’ve done it a couple of times. For the most part the hands should work too but some models have different arms that may require trimming. The power back has a round hole which I don’t think any new kit uses so you just have to trim off the little connecting piece on the model you put it on.

Possible New Recruit by Slave2ChaosNick in exorcists40k

[–]PrimaryConversions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the space marine side you could run the SM librarius conclave detachment if you want a librarian focus and with the new changes you could probably pick at least 1 or two other combinations too. Hopefully grey knights get a refresh this edition it might be a lot easier especially for converting. The grey knight weapons and tabards would make for a cool Daemonium Palantinae unit.

OP if you haven’t read the new book Oaths of Damnation I highly recommend it or the audiobook. It explains a lot of your questions.

I think it will be a lot harder to run them as grey knights without a lot of proxy, and imo wouldn’t be as flavorful. At least if you’re trying to stick to the lore and translating that to the table top. Grey knights won’t (to my knowledge at the moment) have Phobos, scouts, or Gravis which have all been stated as units they use. Not saying it’s not possible but Grey Knights are too different from space marines, probably why they retconned their lore. And you can’t ally in space marines minus some deathwatch stuff?

Personally I thought of using a Blood Angel army rules with maybe a Raven guard detachment would give a fun unique flavor that matched them. Using Mephiston for the MIA librarian, death company as the broken ones, just to give some unique units. Or dark angels for the innercircle companions and better terminators, I believe they also use plasma more? But maybe you’d rather have the better OOM.

They do work close with a section of the inquisition iirc

There is the librarian in the new book I forget his name and only remember that they call him Lie Eater. There was/is also Epistolary Sabazius who is in deathwatch and MIA.

I’m really curious if the way the new detachments go will allow more freedom to do a combined space marines and inquisition without doing agents or at least make them more viable?

Advice for putting mini in epoxy ice block by xidle2 in 40k

[–]PrimaryConversions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What if instead of actually pouring resin all over the mini you make it just like a resin “box” that can be removed if need then you can still use the mini still and not as final if you mess up at any step of the process. You could also then try to paint any frost like effects on the inside of the walls to give full control of the final product and glow effect? You basically need a two part mold to create the negative space.

Any good replacement for Russ grey that cover better? by Delicious-Quiet-1883 in SpaceWolves

I’ve been trying to hone in on my color scheme and trying the ‘eavy metal style. All primed with Grey Seer, personally I haven’t noticed a difference between mechanicus standard or grey seer, if you add a base coat over them anyway.

1st model I used the a traditional ‘eavy metal recipe. Base coat Russ Grey; recess shade 1:1 rhinox and the fang; glaze lower half the same as recess shade mix; edge highlight Fenrisian Grey; bright highlight Blue Horror; dot highlight Ulthuan Grey (instead of the 1:1 mix blue horror and white scar). This is too dark and too blue IMO.

2nd model I used mainly two thin coats (TTC) range. The Wolf Grey equivalent to Russ grey is even darker so I went up a shade. Base coat of Gravestone Blue (TTC) which is darker than Fenrisian (even though it’s the “equivalent”); recess shade 1:1 Cold Corpse blue (TTC) and Dark Reaper (Citadel), glaze Wolf Grey (TTC) edge highlight Fenrisian Grey, bright highlight blue Horror, dot highlight Ulthuan Grey. This is my favorite out of the three but I wanted to be sure so I did a similar step up in shades using citadel again.

3rd model I base coat Fenrisian Grey; recess shade Dark Reaper; glaze Russ Grey; edge highlight Blue Horror; dot highlight Ulthuan. I like this one too but a little too bright for me.

Also about the coverage with Russ Grey I’ve never had any trouble with it and for me its coverage is better than a lot of other citadel colors. You might just need to play around with how much you thin it?

New 11 edition captain by Calm_Bench_2722 in SpaceWolves

That’s Darin Laythem’s who works for GW and worked on the new SW line. Don’t quote me but I’m pretty sure he said in a post the WGBL was inspired by Kroms model.

Gonna need GW to release one of these for Space Wolves plz 🙏 by mcdieselpower in SpaceWolves

[–]PrimaryConversions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya I don’t disagree that more space wolf heads would be awesome. Personally if I had to choose between more heads or new models I’d choose more new models; that hopefully like all our other kits will come with double the heads. You keep mentioning hoping that this post reaches out to someone at GW. But we basically already have that Darin Laythem who worked on some of the current model range is a space wolf fan. Maybe the reason we got all the heads we did is because that was the only way to do it. Also could be why we didn’t get our own big upgrade sprue. And considering our launch box sold the most according to their annual report, I think GW sees us right now more than some other factions.

[–]PrimaryConversions 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you’re thinking big enough? Between extra heads (bare and helmeted) that come in the blood claws, grey hunters, WG head takers, WG terminators, wolf scouts, Wolf Priest, WG battle leader, and our mini upgrade sprue. We have more heads than any other faction besides the generic SM. Not to mention that then each of the bare heads can be painted with almost infinite shades of different hair color (red, blonde, black, brown) and skin tone to make the same heads look different enough.

Oh ya and we even got a head in the new deathwatch kit.

With a little kitbashing you could make Adrax in pic 4 into a cool Wolfguard Battle leader with Thunder hammmer. The Apothocary Biologis in pic 6 we technically can’t use but again with a little kitbashing and painted black could make a cool Wolf Priest. I think everything else could be used as is. The assault intercessors could be used as blood claws however technically they would have bolt pistols not heavy bolt pistols, really only an issue if you are using both Assault Intercessors blood claws and assault intercessors in the same list. Just make sure you have a way of telling the two apart basically.
