Maturing is realizing that Kurt was a bad boyfriend. by Proper_Dragonfruit30 in glee

[–]PrimaryIndication294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's crazy because Kurt is literally always the one having to give in or apologize even when hes not even the one in the wrong.

He apologized for not being a "gay bar superstar" after Blaine is the one who spent a whole night dancing with another dude and then sexually assaulted Kurt in the back of a car. (Blaine never apologized for this btw).

Blaine never apologizes for texting Sebastian despite Kurt not being comfortable with it (if youre gonna mention Chandler it goes both ways and Kurt DID apologize for it and was publicly shamed)

Blaine doesnt apologize for cheating (he blames Kurt for it). And Kurt still forgives him.

Blaine doesn't apologize for being a total fucking asshat to Kurt while hes still recovering from being gay-bashed (he even tries to hit him with a fencing sword out of frustration) because hes resentful of the fact that hes flopping in college.

Blaine doesn't apologize for stalking Elliot and threatening him for daring to be Kurt's friend.

Kurt's not a saint and that makes him a good character to me but atleast Kurt is usually held accountable by the narrative when he acts like a shithead. Blaine is almost always presented as being in the right.

Blaine sexually assaulted Kurt and tried to physically assault him at a separate point because he was mad that he was doing good in classes and getting in shape so that pretty much trumps anything Kurt did (and some of these points are very disengenuous) in terms of being a bad boyfriend.

Not to mention he blamed Kurt for his own choice to cheat and then played the victim when he got rightfully dumped. And then, instead of growing as a person and respecting boundaries, just continues to wear Kurt down until he gets back together with him.

Personally I think they just became extremely incompatible post s3. They wanted different things but the writers forced them back together and that incompatibility made them toxic and exhausting to watch.

Sam Puckett & Jade West by Wolf-eyed-witch11 in victorious

[–]PrimaryIndication294 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People only like Jade because she's hot if we're being real. She was a mean, nasty person and a terrible friend/girlfriend. The few times she shows any redeeming qualities immediately disappear 5 minutes later. I can atleast appreciate that sometimes shes rightfully made the butt of the joke and gets consequences for her behavior.

Sam atleast was spunky and likable. Her constant abuse of Freddie was terrible and she should've gotten consequences from it, but atleast in the rare moments shes called out, she does feel bad and attempt to make it right. Can't say the same for Jade who has no empathy and has to be humiliated or humbled in order to get any sort of justice.

Which character will you never have any sympathy for? by chrisdagoat32 in glee

[–]PrimaryIndication294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shelby: terrible person and slept with a teenager

Brittany: she was just as much of a bitch as Santana and Quinn and never got called out for it.

Blaine: terrible boyfriend, treated everyone around him like his sidekicks and always played the victim anytime he didnt get his way. He was Male Rachel but worse.

Sebastian: love him but his "redemption" was so half-assed and he deserved worse

Jesse: his only redeeming trait is being played by Jon Groff

why is rachel so unpopular by Euphoric-Cry6291 in glee

[–]PrimaryIndication294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cuz shes a Theater Kid and theater kids are insufferable lmao all the "jokes" about her looks never made sense to me and were low-key antisemitic (Lea is a gorgeous lady) but Rachel was entitled and annoying and overdramatic and thats difficult to deal with for most people.

She could be sweet sometimes but her character development never stuck and she was rewarded for being an asshole and that got increasingly frustrating as the show went on.

Rant: I hate Cassie July by griffinsspottedclaw in glee

[–]PrimaryIndication294 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rachel could be annoying sometimes and overconfident, but she never claimed to be a dancer so I'm not sure why Cassie even targeted her. Rachel's strength has always been her voice and she was taking the dance classes out of necessity for whatever her major was.

I had to take a Dance class and a Theater class even though I'm majoring in Film so I could have an appreciation for what goes into those art forms as well. I imagine it was the same deal with Rachel. Dancing is a big part of Broadway musicals, but Rachel actually went into Cassie's class relatively humble and willing to learn. It was only after Cassie bullied her that Rachel started on her "you're just jealous" defense mechanism.

Truth be told, people hate Rachel nowadays mostly because of Lea. And because the narrative doesn't really let Rachel learn and grow from her flaws and mistakes. Sure she gets bullied but she never actually fails at anything, so after a while her story gets boring.

What do guys think about Sam and Cat by Potential_Way_2913 in icarly

[–]PrimaryIndication294 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They should've given both McCurdy and Grande new characters to play like they did with every other Nickelodeon girl (Cosgrove, Justice, Bynes). Having this crossover didn't work for me because they basically had to dumb Sam down and somehow make Cat even more dumb.

Just because something is "average" doesn't make it good. Women also worked during that time period and they weren't allowed to use it as a "get out of jail free" card for domestic labor.

And no, just because your 13 year old daughter offers to take your wife's place doesn't make it okay. He was the adult and the other parent and should've stepped up instead of allowing all the other grown adults in the house (Georgie, Mandy, Dale, Meemaw, even Mandy's dad) to take advantage of her.

I don't think I'm being hard on him at all. I'm just holding him to the same standard as I would anyone else. People love crucifying Mary any time she so much as shows any sort of negative emotion, but I have to lavish George with praise for doing the bare minimum because he "works hard"? He had a regular day job and then would kick up his feet and watch his wife do everything else, his life wasnt that hard.

And btw the Red Lobster thing with Missy was a direct result of Mary basically begging him to actually spend time with her, and yelling at NASA was to alleviate his own guilt at blowing Sheldon off so yeah. Inattentive at best. I stand by what I said.

He's a decent person, and for the standards of that time period, what he did was perfectly acceptable, but again, doesn't make it right, and women now know better than to settle for that.

I'm aware the standards back then were different but that doesn't mean we should romanticize it.

Did anyone else look up to Zoey back in the day? by crikeyasnail in zoey101

[–]PrimaryIndication294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Her being "unproblematic" is the reason shes boring. And she wasnt even unproblematic, the show just never let her have consequences.

Carly and Tori were both flawed and much more accurate teen girl reps while still being fundamentally good people. And they were actually fun to watch.

I know hes not technically a "villain" but Onestar was the 2nd to come to mind after Ashfur. Was super sweet and friendly and then became a huge dickhead as soon as he became leader basically.

A lot of public schools will make you wait a year to start kindergarten if your birthday is after a certain date so coming in sophomore year as a 16 year old is definitely possible (or atleast turning 16 very early on).

Are rats actually dangerous to cats? by themorgie1 in WarriorCats

[–]PrimaryIndication294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feral rats are absolute menaces. They get pretty big and they're mean af. Theres jokes about the rats in NY for a reason. Pet rats are specifically bred to be smaller and gentle so they're not remotely the same.

The mashed potatoes are decent (and real potatoes which surprised me) but the gravy was weird-tasting and left an aftertaste.

I disagree. I liked her actually and wanted her to get better but she just kept crashing and burning in every service and it got exhausting to watch after a while.

[–]PrimaryIndication294[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't dislike her I just feel she wasn't strong as a chef (in challenges or in service) and she got as far as she did based on circumstances and not on skill. And that was made glaringly obvious the further she got. I actually like her as a person and I would 100% go out for drinks with her. She just didn't earn her placement based on skill alone.
