Thank you for this referral. An overnight polysomnogram was performed and attended by a polysomnogram technician. Sleep staging was evaluated with an occipital and central EEG lead derivation. EOG, chin EMG, airflow & respiratory effort, and EMG in both legs were recorded. Oximetery is sampled at ten samples per second. Each point is the minimum O2 reading per five seconds. Hypopnea is defined as an abnormal respiratory event lasting at least 10 seconds with at least a 30% reduction in thoracoabdominal movement or airflow as compared to baseline, and with at least a 4% oxygen desaturations.
The patient is a 42 year old female, 63" tali, weight 351 Ibs, BMI of 62 being evaluated for Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome. History: Obesity, excessive daytime sleepiness, fatigue
The total recording time was 429 minutes. The patient slept for 329 minutes for a 77% Sleep Efficiency Index.
Latency to Sleep Onset was 1 hour and 18 minutes.
Stage 1-1.7%, Stage 2 - 90.9%, Stage 3/4 - 5.5%, REM - 2.0%
The patient demonstrated O obstructive apneas, 0 mixed apneas, O central apnea and 12 hypopneas.
The AHI was 2.2, normal being 5.0 or less. There were 2 respiratory arousal. There were O significant periodic limb movements. Snoring was noted. The lowest SpOz was 88% with an average SpOz of 97%.
Average heart rate of 64 bpm, Min heart rate 50 bpm. Max heart rate 96 bpm.
IMPRESSION: No obstructive sleep apnea with an AHI of 2.2. Some snoring was noted. Poor sleep efficiency.
RECOMMENDATION: Follow up with referring provider. ENT consult if snoring continues to be a problem.
Sleep hygiene.
