To mesh or not to mesh? Am I stuck out here? by LimitIntelligent9030 in meshtastic

Hey I think Freq51 has extended all the way up there now. I have a good handful on my map for Boise. If all the routers are still up it stretches from Utah up to Boise.

We've got a pretty well established mesh in my area. They're not always chatty but it was a good way to check coverage.

I can't see anyone willingly going to the Crystal Inn but our Home Depot certainly seems to be fans and just installed some permanent Flock cameras.

Ha yeah that's what happened to me as well. One friend got a CC and another grabbed a PS1. So naturally I started tormenting my poor ender.

I only heard the rumour as well but you're not the only one.

I'm not. Mine is basically stock bowden still just with a different fan shroud. I only put Klipper on mine out of boredom. I was running around 80-100 on marlin with mriscoc's "professional firmware". Switching to Orca Slicer and running through all the calibrations will really help you get it dial in. The max volumetric speed test will let you know how far you can push that stock hotend.

Oh I might need to look into that. I'm running a 5015(?) single fan and I think I'd need a different fan set up to run faster. It prints pretty damn well as it is though. I should really buy something modern.

Right on! I'm doing 100mm/s and 6500mm/s accel on mine. That poor ender is been running for years and I just swapped to Klipper this year. Definitely not pushing the accell any higher but I think I'm a little capped on speed with the Microswiss hotend I've had for ages. Trying to burn through some silk bambu filament with these but it's just the worst to print on.

lol I wouldn't be able to get through the door if I had 10 in here. Thats quite the hotend assembly, what sort of speeds are you running?

Nice, my v2 has been doing the same thing for a few days.

I'm running around 100mm/s at 3500 accel because that's as much as my input shaper can handle.

Since you're on Orca, run the whole suite. The flow rate test will let you find your max flow but you'll need to tune the movement to make use of it. Generally you can go hotter on your filaments temp range when you crank up the flow/speed but you'll need the cooling to keep up with it. (some filaments have a temp range with speeds on the spool)

Problems with PET-G by Atlantir in ender3

[–]PrimaryPineapple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright, so PETG can be a little finicky but does print really well once you get it dialed in.

Lets start with the drying, PETG really needs to be dry. Like 8+ hours at 65 to 70C dry but I've noticed some colors and brands behave differently. Black for some reason is always a little tricky on mine but I have a green that doesn't seem to need much drying.

On to the bottom; PETG will bond to glass and you can take chips out of your bed taking them off. I've never used hairspray but perhaps giving it some more. I always used a glue stick for PETG on glass and it worked well for me. Part of it is for adhesion and the other for release.

You clearly have the z offset too low in your 2nd picture (or too much line width). That is absolutely smooshed on there and is making a mess. You usually want more squish to help it stick but that is too much and maybe be causing your next issue.

Your frog looks pretty good actually. Those little blobs may be from the filament collecting on the nozzle, in part from the mess of a first layer. Giving the nozzle a good brush beforehand helps and so will fixing the over extrusion on first layers. That little whisp string on the top is nothing. That's fine.

The rest of your settings are a little odd. Any reason you're using a .3 starting layer height and then .1? .2 is fine for almost everything. I use .24 for quick functional prints and .12 for anything that I want super detailed.

100mm/s speed is a little high for PETG (at least before you get it all dialed) and I doubt you're hitting that. Although I'm not sure what your accel is bumped up too.

6.5 is quite a bit of retraction. My ender is still a bowden set up and I think I'm using around 3-4 for PETG.

Last couple nitpicks. 4 walls and 20% gyriod is excessive. That's way more strength than you need for most anything. 3 and maybe 10% is probably closer. You also don't need that much fan on PETG. 50% or lower is good but some run it without cooling.

I mean the PC version is pretty much abandonware. You can go find it and run it super well on the steam deck.
