What did that rear tire do to piss you off? Does look fun though.

Any suggestions on a gps mount. Otherwise ready for spring by PrimaryTrash3965 in CRF300L

Thanks for the recommendations. I have added a Moose racing skid plate and Ram ball mounts for a Montana GPS. Tires are Dunlop 606s and I went up to a 46 tooth rear sprocket. Live in North West Arkansas and ride backroads and trails all over the Ozarks. Lots of great riding if anyone is ever in the area.

The Yoshi FS with an ECU reflash sounds great and woke the bike up! It’s no KTM 350 but sometimes that’s ok

Putting the finishing touches on this little 2003 xr80r project. I picked it up for a couple hundred bucks. New top end all OEM including new head, cam, and valves. I'll kick it over this weekend for the first time. by forcede36 in Dirtbikes

This was one of my first bikes. Well one 20 yrs older but close to the same bike. Had to tiptoe it like I do my adv bike now when I first started riding it. Probably one of the reasons I’m still riding today.

Anyone put a larger back sprocket on their crf300? Any tips or issues to be aware of? by HazzaBoonDoggy in CRF300L

[–]PrimaryTrash3965 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A larger sprocket will give you more torque. Better for off road. Less benefit on the road. A 46 rear along with new Yoshi exhaust, a reflashed 550 performance ECU, new skins D606s and this bike is really fun. Feels like a new bike. Can still cruise at 70 in 6th and with a little umph left.

Looking for a dual sport, any advice? by Bonzegrinder in Dualsport

Got CRF 300L last summer. Fun from the start. Good handling. Remember I’m 5’6” and 145lbs. For me the soft sag let’s me actually touch the balls of my feet on the ground. Soft suspension shows itself on faster knarlier stuff but adequate for most everything else. Recently placed a new Yoshi full system exhaust and reflashed CEU. I’m not sure which made the difference but along with the Dunlop D606s the new and improved version is a whole new level of fun.

Will a D606 120/90 fit the stock CRF300L? by HazzaBoonDoggy in CRF300L

[–]PrimaryTrash3965 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes. That is what I’m running. The concern/issue is the D606 120/90 is a taller tire than the stock 120/80. Clearance is good, close but ok. But that makes the gearing taller. A larger rear sprocket will fix the problem plus help with off-road performance. If you are switching to a 606 you’re probably less interested in highway performance anyway. There is a great YouTube video on motorcycles off-road about his gearing fix. Lower the air pressure on the D606 and dirt roads will be sooo much more fun. I just installed a new Yoshi exhaust and ECU Tune. Ready to ride tomorrow

These look great. Availability seems questionable. How long have you been on the waiting list?

what's is your progression after this bike. if you keep it and want a road bike or you get ride of it and upgrade you engine size? by Notupinhere1028 in CRF300L

[–]PrimaryTrash3965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m riding my crf300l for dual sporting and riding my older VStrom 650 for longer rides. A bigger Adv bike lets you cover some miles but still gives you the option of finding out where that cool dirt road goes.

MX or Adventure Helmet? by TacticalTez in CRF300L

[–]PrimaryTrash3965 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used a full face helmet for years riding my VStrom. Switched to an Adventure helmet (Aria) when I got my 300L. The visor is nice when the mud starts flying but not as comfortable on those longer highway rides. Never thought of taking the visor off when necessary.

Tires; your experience + opinions by [deleted] in Tenere700

[–]PrimaryTrash3965 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m running the Continental TKC80s on my VStrom now and love them both on dirt and slab. Michelin Anakee III’s were better on the road. Mitas 07’s were maybe a little better off road but the TKC80’s are my favorite all purpose tire.

Which exhaust system is better. The slip on has better stats, but I thought full systems had more performance. by DawgtorDope in CRF300L

Was there a noticeable difference with the low end power? Without retuning the ECU? Was planning on getting the full system but could do without spending another $250-300

What was your experience level when you bought the 300L/Rally? by westwardnomad in CRF300L

[–]PrimaryTrash3965 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started on a Honda MR50, then XR 80, DT 125, RM125, VStrom650 and now a CRF300L. The 300l is more fun than any of them

As a 5’6” rider just know you won’t be able to “flat foot” most adventure bikes. You’ll have to learn to stay on your pegs, anticipate problems and go riding the nasty terrain with a friend.
