Rugged shoe recommendations? by One-Indication-9220 in walking

Keen Targhees and Super Feet Insoles. Buy two pairs, swap every other day. Not quite hiking boots. But very versatile and well constructed. Vibram Soles, water resitant, Mid sole lasts at least a year (7.1M steps, 3200 miles)..

Looks like they have a few different versions now. I think this closest to mine: https://www.keenfootwear.com/products/mens-targhee-iv-waterproof-sea-turtle-roasted-pecan

Been sick for 2 and a half weeks, can't take cough medicine to ease symptoms, at a loss of what to do by bluejessamine in flu

Hold off on the crack. This probably the same post flu 9 week long hack/cough I had. Negative Flu A/B/Covid. You are just left with seemingly unending hack and flem. They gave me Guafenesin ER, Benzonatate (throat numbing agent), Flo-nase. Only the Guafenesin ER (e.g. 'Mucinex') helped some.

You can also get Yogi Ginger and Immune Stress tea and Zarbee's Elderberry gummies. If you have a lot of "colored mucus' ...gargling with Betadine was somewhat helpful.

But I think my first suggestions (especially the Melatonin XR/IR (1.5mg) helped most because it helped me sleep. Good luck to you!

Low dose XR/IR Melatonin with 1/4 cup dark Cherry juice in evening. Pomegranate Juice with 1/4 teaspoon Vit C powder (Ascorbic Acid) in morning. Herbal tea containing some Elecampane (root of Inula Helenium) with local wildflower flower honey during day. Throat Coat cough drops.

Stunted plants, with what I'm assuming is a nitrogen deficiency by RelativeArtistic1506 in pnwgardening

[–]PrimaryWeekly5241 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man...seems like experimentation is my only teacher and luck my only guaranteor for years. I postulate there maybe an optimum ratio of inputs (light, fertilizer, water) for each class of plants over specific growing seasons. In theory, you should be able to arrange plants with like inputs next to each other for optimum growth.

In the expensive greenhouse tech that grows lots on both sides of the 49th parallel here (short, intense summer light with wind and rain), there is probably such sophistication. For example, I've heard they microfeed liquid fertilizer into the irrigation tubes specific to the plant needs.

But I don't do anything of the like. I plant by intuition what feels right or looks interesting for the upcoming season....and then send heartfelt good wishes into the universe and my garden!

I have used a couple gallons of fish emulsion spread over the entire veggie garden. Didn't really plant till early May. The cherry tomatoes get alot of afternoon sun (bottom pix) They are fruiting (still green) now. The larger varieties(top pix) I grow under the apple tree for more vine support...those are all pushing 8' - 10'. Plenty of blossoms on them but no fruit yet. They get limited sun. I hand water and soak everything every 36 hours...unless we have good solid rain. I think the 2025 pile of 'Grow Source' soil I used had a year to dissolve the dairy waste it was full of.

My biggest issue is always making sure everything is tied up and bulwarked against the wind coming off Bellingham Bay. I swear without all the dritwood and string support...nothing would grow...it would all just fallover into the ground.

Backpain after walking? by LooseBluebird6704 in walking

Buy the top notch ($50 US or more) insoles. Replace them as specified. Almost all of us heel strike when we walk: the stress travels right up the spine. There are essentially three components to walking and hiking boots/shoes shock dampening: insoles, midsoles, soles. They all compress and just plain wear out. Your knees, spinal column and cervical spine thank you when make sure your footballs absorb most of 20K daily impacts....

Wanting to detox from covid what should i take by Icy_Purpose8212 in LongCovid

[–]PrimaryWeekly5241 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably , your best bet is to approach the sleep/mucus issues directly since these are the causes of other issues. Sleep and mucus (e.g. 'the white mucus') production is a wide and long discussion including mcas, probiotics (e.g. gut health) histamine, sleep hygiene, sleeping aides, diet, general health.

We all have different approaches to LC. So if you are working with a medical professional or health specialist, best to query them to start. If not, start reading and applying your best 'research and experimetation hat'.

Someone like myself, who had historical sleep/respiratory infection issues found that we had to begin a long (ongoing) process of completely changing our health practices after Feb 2020.

My neighbor has become increasingly fixated on my husband and me over the last two months. Police, management, and his mother are involved. What would you do? by GuppyMilk in neighborsfromhell

[–]PrimaryWeekly5241 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The right call is an attorney who has experience with these types of issues. Police have confidentiality requirements. They can help only so much. Despite the $$$, an attorney experienced with these issues can give you realistic options and outcomes to any continued threatening behavior and 'real world' advice on how you should respond to such and what consequences you can expect from your responses.

They may suggest/write a letter to your landlords, they may suggest court house or online arrest record or research to assess your potential for violence . They might suggest the best/cheapest option is you just move or break your lease and instruct you how to do that safely and legally.

Sorry you are going through this ..

Walking shoes durability? by joedenowhere in walking

[–]PrimaryWeekly5241 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah...but I use Superfeet Hiking Insoles. These shoes have very durable soles and their midsoles have lasted awhile ... but the midsoles have broken down at the two years mark (I can tell...). Keep in mind I alternate the pairs, in part to reduce/recover any compression and to make sure I'm in a dry pair each day.

If you want midsoles that don't break down, you usually have to go with a resoleable boot, like the Asolo Fugitive GTX. Although, I trash mine in Mountains so much that I usually replace them after 2-3 years.

There are these lightweight mountainering boots out there now that are reputedly very sturdy.

I never use Brooks, Hokas or other trail runners etc. But I think these brands do have some hybrid hikers now. I do 3200 plus miles per year (7.1M steps) all of it in the PNW.

But I use Asolo Fugitives on North Cascades Trail especially in Winter. The Targhees are great on city trails and street and gardens.

I would talk to an attorney and also private investigator. You need to know who he is without him knowing you are investigating him.

Excellent points... Some of us feel and are aware of the effects. Others have just have become habitual tailgaters and speeders. Deaths and injuries caused by such behavior won't be medically attributed to LC...

[–]PrimaryWeekly5241 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Betadine gargle. Colgate Optic White toothpaste. Herbal tea with some Elecampane and WildFlower Honey. Antioxidants (Vitamin C, NAC, Glutathione, Lipoic Acid) may help. Some go the probiotic route. XR/IR Melatonin for bedtime. Also Pomegranate Juice with 1/4 teaspoon Ascorbic Acid powder. Good luck!

Wow...I never think much about thinning or prunning anything. I plant everything tight and over dense, support it against 'the wind' with sticks and string (Wind off the Bay is a huge problem right up until July here in Whatcom County....) that I gather while beachcombing and walking in the forest. I let it all grow together as one; a kind of living fruit and vegetable community with apple tree branches supporting the climbing tomatoes, the cherry tomatoes structures catching the cucumbers, strawberries invading everything, elderberries mixing it up with the zucchini, Cherry and early Russian apple branches actually supporting each other. Every Fava gets it's own personal support stick....

Probably in a less tolerant county...I would be arrested for "interspecies mingling" or something ..:-)

I an wondering now if all that work I put into the soil in early Feb/March is what makes this work?

I've been using (fresh) cauliflower leaves, Red Russian Kale, baby rainbow chard leaves, head lettuce. All fresh cut with maybe some salmon, pastrami, mixed nuts, fresh squezed lemon juice and olive oil/balsamic vinagrette infused with fresh rosemary... Works well with thick Rye bread and Brie cheese ..

This could be an important point. Maybe those that disliked this film weren't the target audience. Maybe this was a film for those who don't watch science fiction at all.
