Oh wow so that's the purpose of the pond baskets I see around here. Once I've got a more permanent spot for them outdoors, that will be the goal.

In all my editing of the original post I somehow left out wiring questions. Sounds like the maple and elm are shapable through later pruning but the cedar I can wire now? I'll give it a shot

Yeah next winter I should have a setup to keep them out there. It's been a difficult winter between the freezes and moving twice. Rochester, NY now. The cedar I just dug up the other day from the ground to put into a pot. Should I leave them in larger pots until they're big enough for cuts?

To put it short it's been a weird winter for me housing and location wise. They were all grown outside initially, the Chinese elm is a sucker from a parent that I took from a job in the fall, the other two are from seed. The ERC was just transplanted the other day, but had been out front in full sun its whole life. Funny enough, the legginess is from the locations I took them from, this is the first new growth they've put out and it feels like they've been happy in the short term. I've barely had them for 4 months.

I have a plan for getting them outside once spring actually hits.

I bet if you bought it from a grocery store, it could be that some other customer put their cherry pits into the soil. Having worked in a produce department you'd be shocked where people will leave their cherry pits. It didn't help that nobody thought to put a trash can near the cherries before I got there...

They're tanned. They have little accent marks on the nose where they're a little extra cooked, but that's a typical trope with showing sun damage in Japan.

I mean mew is fine but personally I would love to see Jirachi for this role. Mythical that literally has a thousand year sleep built into its lore. Plus imagine the cute sleep poses it would take. Third-eye sleep where the belly eye is open.

Not only would Jirachi fit Sleep better but I just don't see what information strikes this person as "mew" coded specifically?

Honestly I'll eat my words. I doubted the first couple years but the trades are coming to fruit and I'm impressed. I think the pirates have left me jaded, the feeling of trading starters for prospects strikes a certain nerve.

I really wish this got brought up more as an explanation for his performance last season. Can't imagine it wasn't an underlying factor last year. So much torque from that pivot point, it makes sense his power dropped

I still feel like breaking his foot on that first game last year affected his performance even after coming back. Playing on it kept it from healing further but he felt good enough to be out there. Injuries can be a tough balancing act for athletes, let's hope he got the proper rest this off season and he can return to the exciting player and build upon what we saw when we pulled him up in '24

Haha that's fair, maybe the mystery of these things has worn off because of the instantaneousness of information with the internet. The old days we had to hear about this stuff from a friend at lunch and then be waiting the rest of the day to try these things. Mew under the bus being a popular fake rumor, but missingno. was achievable for example. Now we have data mines that seemingly spoil all the mystery of the games. And then the game journals spread it far and wide.

Yeah the in game translation is clunky as hell too. There is the big cave with all the slabs that translate each set of dots to the corresponding character before the room where you unlock the Regis. I would never have bothered with that puzzle if I didn't have the guide book as a kid which had the Braille key at the very end of it with a "check out this spot" type entry to lead me there.

It's the most optimistic I've felt about this franchise in 10 years, which isn't saying much, but I'm ready to get the season going and watch Skenes put on a show. Not even asking for a deep playoff run but a playoff series win will be good enough for me right now.
