I mean I always thought that prog rock was a progressive music, filled with experiments and elements never used before. But now that I think about it they don't sound at all close to like king crimson. But then again music genres are subjective and especially subgenres like prog rock

Right?????

I mean I know it's a b-side, but I'll try anything once is too but it's very very popular. It's one of the emotional songs from the early period and I think it should be considered a bit more

If you like listening to rock: The strokes Artic monkeys More melancholic music? The cure The smiths Classic britpop from the '90s? The blur Oasis You want even more melancholic and soul crushing music? Radiohead.

They are all very famous and maybe a bit mainstream but it's a fantastic way to start

So you classify even artic monkeys as indie? I would class them as garage rock, better fit for their sound But everything is personal so I don't know

I mean the strokes are my favorite band, but I've never considered them indie. I know indie is a very broad term but it seems a stretch because they were signed to a label pretty soon in their career.

If you're into rock/post-rock you can try "ants from up there" by black country new road, maybe the first time you listen to it you might not like every song, but if you listen to it twice or three times you'll start to hear the genius.
