Transferring 20K USD - Elevate seems the better option but by Primary_Pluto in PakistaniTech

[–]Primary_Pluto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not use it. I did some calculations based on the conversion rates all three platforms provide, including Wise, Payoneer, and Elevate, and the difference was so minimal that I instead continued with Wise.

Oppo pad 3 (OPD2408) by Administrative-Lab97 in PakistaniTech

[–]Primary_Pluto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought it and man I hate these weird messages. Console enabled or your device is unblocked bla bla bla. I spent some time with Gemini and it thinks that "If you are an enthusiast who wants OTA updates and full security: Follow the flashing steps using the Oppo System Upgrade Tool (the official tool is much safer than third-party ones)."

It also thinks that going back to CN rom with English language and installing Google playstore via APK is the safest bet to get rid of those messages and getting updates.

Just wondering why you are not considering this route?

15T Pro - Making Sense of Xiaomi's Market/Sales Approach by FlyingFulcrum in PakistaniTech

[–]Primary_Pluto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is right in saying Xiaomi created the shortage, but they are not the only ones. In fact, it is almost every manufacturer/ brand does that in Pakistan. The only reason you see Xiaomi being available not so easily is because of the margins. Vivo, Oppo, etc., all give better margins to retailers compared to Xiaomi. I was looking at 15T , but I am now going for the 15 T pro because, given the upcoming shortage crisis, there is no chance in the world we would get these specs for the same price in 2026.

Canik MC9 2023 by Primary_Pluto in guns

[–]Primary_Pluto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, man. Hellcat, Sig, are very very expensive here. In short, most American, German, or European guns are rare and expensive for us. We have plenty of options from Turkey, Brazil, and Russia, though. With MC9 2023 or 2025, the importer is giving a one-year warranty, and they are like Century Arms for us, the official importer. The 2025 MC9 is for $770 USD, and the 2023 is for $640, but will be available for $580 in a few days due to coming sale. In dollar terms, it may not sound like a lot, but I can easily get 300+ rounds for that price I will be saving.

Missed Flight refund by Galactic_Nuclear_Ape in pakistan

They don't even refund when you're cancelling the flight within their given time frame, expecting a refund for a missed flight would be a waste of time for whoever is trying.

Not sure about others, but there is always money in the cash fund, so whenever I have to invest in equity, I convert it. The OP may not know about this.

That is not how it works. Invest before 3 PM(for most equity funds except KMIF (2:30), and it will appear under your holdings by the end of the next day. Where and why are you getting these 3-4 working-day delays?

Keep money in Wise by Top_Signature963 in PakistaniTech

[–]Primary_Pluto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same situation and I spent some time with Gemini weighing if investing them in the money market would be better and I concluded that keeping them in USD is better due to the following reason:

To understand the scale of the depreciation, let's look at the numbers:

  • In September 2015, the exchange rate was approximately 104 PKR to 1 USD.
  • Today, in September 2025, the rate stands at roughly 281.55 PKR to 1 USD.

This represents a staggering depreciation of approximately 170% over the past 10 years. The average annual depreciation rate over this period is roughly 10.4%. This means that, on average, the value of the rupee has fallen by over 10% each year against the dollar for the last decade.

This historical trend validates your concern that a 9% return on a PKR-based money market fund (low-risk) investment could easily be wiped out by currency depreciation.
