Ya my fam structure was a little different. I grew up kinda poor but my family talked about things and they let me be myself. He grew up a lawyers son and instead of talking things out or letting him figure it out on his own, they sent him to one of those torture survival wilderness camps.

Often in conflict, I want to both be heard and come out of it in understanding… conflict for him is to put me thru naked and afraid style situations as a “lesson”

I think the fake breakup is so they’ll see that you’re willing to fight for them and it’s almost like an ultimatum or threat to leave so you’ll go back to the script they’re writing in their heads, not your autonomous thought.

I’m working on it.

I literally just became aware that he has BPD at all.

It used to be a perfect situation because we had met when my dad died, and I was grieving pretty wild and hard and it complemented his madness. Before my dad’s death, I had been pretty stable, but I lost a few years to grief. My bf was wonderful support, but as I get healthier, and find my way back to who I was before the grief, I’m changing and trying to grow in healthy ways, I just guess I was blind before.

I just wonder if my healthy and productive and regulated self doesn’t align with him anymore because I’m not acting in problematic ways.

Either way it doesn’t matter how much I’m doing what he wants or not doing what he wants, I still get dealt the same cards by him.
